  • Playlist to the Spirit of Christmas Collaboration with Second Chance Ohana and many other UA-camrs who are GIVING AWAY their pieces to those in need: • Giving Back, A Cabinet...
In today's episode I am refinishing 3 second hand projects that came from yard sales, Goodwill, and the curb. First, is a curbside table that gets a fresh and modern look. Second is a totally trashed wooden box that we turn into a high end custom upholstered ottoman. Third we have a very outdated Bob Ross style painting that I give a new look for super cheap!

Heard that hubby used undiluted bleach, which should never be used on wood... bcuz of what happened. It goes below surface & continues degrade the wood.
Fyi - it only takes 4 drops to make safe to drink a quart of water when out in the wildnerness... ie: germ destroying!

      Hello Desert DIY,
I’m not to sure if you know that once a month in Glendale, Az they have bulk day. I’ve found soooo many nice stuff. So it’s goes first week of each month. Everyone puts stuff on the curb of their sidewalks that wants to be picked up. You might want to check if other cities do it to. Hopefully this help’s out.

This was an outstanding video, Cory. I was touched by the glimpse into your kind and loving heart. You are a great example for your viewers and Americans in general to follow.
Thanks for your continued support of the young people growing up in the system. This group of youngsters frequently needs a helping hand in order to get started in life. Most people don't know that a huge number of individuals spend their lives in the foster care system. IMO, these youngsters are an invisible and forgotten group in our society.
Kudos to you and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Thank you so much Teresa. I think most people don't know that this group of young adults exist in their communities. Most of them won't ever bring up having been in foster care, either (i dont blame them). So I am very happy that I was able to bring them to the light to be cared for! Merry Christmas

So sweet that you’re a little boy always wants to help. I really believe that it’s important to teach a child to work when they think it is fun. If you wait until they’re older to try to teach them how to do chores then it becomes a “chore” and they don’t want to. But if they learn to do it when they’re little and they think it’s fun then they don’t seem to mind it so much as they get older.

We had a similar chest when we lived in Arizona in the 1970's. You do such good work. I love watching your channel.

LOVE LOVE LOVE your work!! With the coffee table I still would have put pads or buffers of some kind in place of feet: and would have used some sort of hydraulic or locking arm hinge for such a heavy cover. Looks amazing!Enjoy! Good luck with baby #2 and God continue to Bless you for your help with the foster care momma & family. 🙏🏼❤️

You are such a blessing to this young woman. The style and colors make me think of someone who has never got to decorate her own space before. I feel like you are trying to get a ton of projects done before baby arrives. That handle on the table was perfect. The crystal knob was pretty but too small. That 2nd piece of furniture was funky. Good thing you live where you can pressure wash all year. It was 75° on Christmas here where I am.

I think you need to call your 'oops' paint Desert Sand. It seems appropriate...
The chest almost looks like it could have been a shipping crate that someone turned into a piece of furniture. You know, people used to do things like that, because you would never waste good wood. I could be wrong, but I have a chest that was a WWII ammo chest in a former life. My husband was using it as a tool chest for years. When he got ready to upgrade, he asked me if I thought I could use it for anything. Smart man! He knew I would!
I think it is wonderful that you and your husband put all that time into making these pieces over, for someone else. Y'all show the true spirit of giving.
    🙂👍💖

I'm a rub n buff gal too, but I've recently discovered that if you mix metallic Mica powder with polyacrylic, it makes for beautiful transformation as well! My fave today was your trunk for sure! Stunning!
