All of the Italian pens are beautiful. I just wish they were more affordable so i could own more of them.

I fully agree. I try to review once a month an affordable Italian pen. But even then affordable is less than 200$ which is not exactly cheap.

Hello Vincenzo! Thanks for showing us that attractive Omas pen! I have always been a fan of fine and xf nibs, when they are really good, you can't beat them. That faceted design is really appealing, as well as the greek key motif around the band! Maybe Omas will bring this one back!

I have exact pen. I love it. One of the best writers I have and I have "all the pens" 😂 while this is a daily writer, the nib to get is the more flexible version of this nib the 585 14ct. One of the best nibs ever made. And then also the more vintage extra lucens from 50s which is super flexible. I am definitely an Oman guy now. Picked this one up for less than ~$200 and it is worth every penny. It is light, durable, super simple in piston mechanism, really easy to take apart and clean with zero tools necessary. Just a great writer with zero fluff. Highly recommend. Great review.

Good morning, Vincenzo! I have an OMAS 360 Magnum that I love. The facets on your Extra reminds me of a Diplomat Classics Collection I have in a Blue resin with Gold accents. Hope your Italia team fools them all!!

My OMAS looks like yours, except for the clip. Mine has the wheeled clip. Mine also has a subtle ink window. Place your iPhone light behind it and see nearly your entire ink chamber. Otherwise, you are right. It is very light, beautifully balanced, with a wonderful 18k nib. Mine is an in-house italic. Congratulations. You have a special fountain pen.

I sure do. I am not sure the modern Omas pens have the same quality.

Nice review of a really nice looking vintage Omas Vincenzo. I think you've just given me an incentive to maybe start looking for a vintage Omas myself.

I would love to own one of the vintage true OMAS pens, the nibs are what make them special as they were all made in-house. When the company went under the employees took the machines to make the nibs and formed Scribo. The old stock of materials went to Armando Simoni Club and they still make pens. The name "OMAS" went into public domain and the owner of Nahvalur has started to make pens under the OMAS name but they don't have any of the qualities of the original OMAS that made them great. I think of the new OMAS as being rebranded Nahvalur pens with Asvine(?) nibs.🤣

That's an unfortunate turn of events for that pen brand.

You’re very correct. In my opinion, the new pens currently being made and marketed as OMAS should really not even be called by the venerable old brand’s name. Because the new-fangled ‘OMAS’ is nothing like the real thing.

Nice review. The "old" Omas pens are without any doubt among the best vintage pens. Take care, you know when you start a vintage pen collection, but you never know when it will stop 😆...

Hi Vincenzo: that is a fantastic pen! I am super partial to vintage OMAS because I have inherited 2 from my grandpa, a 1937 Lucens and and 556/S both with flexible nibs that write almost like magic. The Lucens is especially small and light but the nib glides and flexes with no pressure while the 556/S is a bit stiffer.

I only very belatedly managed to buy my first OMAS pen only three years ago. I now own three. ❤️
I have a 12-faceted Arte Italiana Paragon with sterling silver cap, another 12-faceted Arte Italiana Milord and a white (Iceberg) 360. I’ll try to get more. A celluloid one is an essential.
Your pen is just a true classic. The size, design aesthetics, feel in hand are just sublime. I wonder if your piston mechanism is as smooth as you’d like. Usually, the pistons on very many old OMAS pens are rather stiff and ‘sticky’.
My nibs are the original OMAS 18k and 14k (two Ms and an F). The alternate nibs were made by Bock. I don’t at all mind piston filling pens without ink windows. I have several, especially my beloved Stipula Etrurias, Florentias etc…Visconti inks are very nice. Especially the blue which is just a stand-out one. And I detest posting pens. So, that’s never a concern to me
Enjoy this pen fully. Any OMAS is a keeper. So keep this one! 🙂

I have a black OMAS Paragon, perhaps a tad bigger than this one, and I love it. I think you will appreciate the light weight when you write for any long period.

I sure do! I have seen the paragon for sale. I will have to check it out.

Congrats, you got an original OMAS before the heirs sold to Louis Vuitton Holdings in 2000. After 2007 2 more holdings of Chinese origin drove the brand down. I hope you always will enjoy this little gem of a fountain pen. BTW, I'm really curious who will win the UEFA cup 2024. So many teams are still in a rebuilding process like the Germans and Italy or even Spain and Portugal, Did England send a competive team, or will we see a surprise?

    • @fountainpentherapy

Unfortunate turn of events for that pen brand. As for the UEFA cup, Italy just had a miserable game against Spain and I am not too optimistic. My money is with England.

Great review. Interesting that you play golf, because pen reviewer David Parker of Figboot on Pens also plays golf. Maybe you to should arrange to play some golf together and talk pens.

I have 3 Omas ballpoints - Ogiva, Milord, and 360. All are well made and great in the hand. I have never purchased a fountain pen. It was always out of my reach. I should go hunting for one as I like how it writes.
Have you cleaned the nib, feed and piston? I am wondering if maintenance will be an issue.
    Excellent review, Vincenzo.

My husband and I have always wondered about the purpose of upside down writing with a fountain pen?

Your guess is as good as mine. LOL. I believe its for those who like to draw with their fountain pens. They can switch to a finer line without switching pens.
