Ballistic Gel Shots

- Ballistic gel (or gelatin) is a biomimetic material designed to simulate the material properties (density and viscosity) of human muscle tissue. The ballistics gel formulation is used as standardized media for testing things like ammunition, hand-held weapons, shrapnel, and others. For scientific reporting, generally folks formulate a gel that is standardized by the FBI, and this gel needs to be refrigerated and generally has a strong yellow/orange tint in color. In this example, we used clear ballistics gel purely to see how ammo penetrates, cavitates, and damages the gel.

Kind of amazing how that one bullet reached all the way to the end and had lost enough kinetic energy where the last part of it had enough surface tension to yank the bullet back into place
THAT was awesome
It's not surface tension
Just when i thought i was out they pull me back in.
Actually, it didn't make it all the way through. Still, a decent chunk left that still held the bullet back. I don't know if gels have surface tension, but that is usually a liquid characteristic.
I coudnt beieve what i was seing
So, what did we learn?
Don't get shot.
same comments
Follow police commands to show your hands or get shot
No, has something on sonic wave
generally good advice
I know what I learned. Line anything with gel to make it bulletproof!😅
i like how on the second clip, the bullet was outside and the gel was like, "where do you think you're going?"
So what happened there?
@Jesus has given you all. Repent or die. Muslims believe Jesus, but we understand him from a different perspective. Jesus (or Isa) is one of the prophets and apostles in Islam. We love him, but deeply as servants of God.
@@mra.prasetio do not compromise your faith for anyone brother ..I don't think prophet Muhammed peace be upon him would approve of what you said .. we don't see any different perspective .. Jesus peace be upon him was a prophet and a messenger of Allah .. and that's the true and only perspective .. your words imply that we can have both perspectives side by side in harmony .. but NO.
@@kongesnok "you are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong" Qur'an states that the best quality of Muslims is what I've done .. who are you to say otherwise.
@Jesus has given you all. Repent or die. Lmao no
The flash of light is caused by the air being compressed from the gel retracting, which causes the air to heat up very quickly and (as someone else here said) it burns the gel
Interesting
Cooool
Oh wow!
Mf I thought you said flesh light😂💀
That science guy
Love it. No ads, no intros, no bullshit talking, no sponsors, no dumb ass commentary, just straight to the point, showing specifically what we came for
Yeaaah. Lots of gun channels does that. It's understandable why they would but it's very annoying.
That's the way it should be
fuck ads rip vanced
fully agree
You came for it?? UA-cam showed it to me lol
Welcome back elites. We’ve found another video that’s gonna blow up in a solid month
It was at 100k when I first watched it
Not sure
True
Lol
Man it's really crazy and satisfying af.🖤
It's been a year
That rifle round implosion was sick 0:18
also the bullet went out then straight back in, I thought it was rewinding for a sec
why does it blow up?
@@Nyploid you mean the spark? Well it is because of the extremely and drastic change in pressure.
@@osho5996 oh hey, I didn't notice that! I wonder how unlikely it was that it'd get almost but not quite all the way through.
@@Nyploid it’s condensing the air really quickly which causes it heat up and make a small explosion. The same thing happens in a fire piston.
I often hear that gunshot wounds are more seriously internally destroyed than they look.
This video teaches it very well.
And none of these were hollow point rounds. Those things do some serious internal damage.
@@fallofshadows2209 There were some pistol hollow points halfway through. Little red inserts, the hallmark of Hornady Critical…. Something. Duty/Defense.
For more info, see "cavitaion"
humans are barbaric and not worthy of a god
Damn, that crystal-clear gel really lets us get an excellent view of the sonoluminescence. Nice!
Bro this is crazy how is this not more popular
It will become
I guess it will have couple million views at some point, so I am leaving my comment when it has just under 100k views
well.. it’s currently 273k
And the UA-cam recommendations have just brought me here?
Fast forward 12 days, it's now at 2.1M
Knowing that cavitation explosions would happen inside the flesh of a living target is terrifying.
ah don't worry if there's a good guy with a gun all problems are fixed. so glad I moved back to Europe XD
The cavitation bubble collapse with the rifle round is amazing.
This is how we get damaged when we get shot. The bullet doesn't just go through our body. They make a large whole inside us like it did to the gel, followed by internal burn because of the friction.
Nice :)
@@morlirstone2165 That's very menacing
@@justanub4697 yes i'm scared as hell inside
Something tells me this video is going to blow up
Pun intended
The light you see is plasma, very little and short lasting but it's wonderful!
What light
@@MonaLisa-ux6xd ua-cam.com/video/dd7BoaF6NZI/v-deo.html
I dunno if you know what you're talking about... plasma, maybe not, but the air is definitely igniting lol. Cavitation bubbles are crazy. Mantis Shrimp (or pistol I can't remember) can literally create a tiny explosion that stuns fish. For a fraction of a second, it reaches temperatures hotter than the surface of the sun which is a literal ball of giant plasma.
@@MonaLisa-ux6xd
I know that? What exactly are you trying to say?
No this is plasma, the air gets trapped in the gel and due to execisve speed it expands rapidly and is compressed intensely, becoming plasma for a fractional time... Go check it ..
Even more crazy: That light emitted was a single wavelenght, blackbody radiation is cool stuff.
@@MonaLisa-ux6xd That is plasma, it is caused by the air being compressed so fast it causes the air to heat up very quickly thus creating plasma
The second clip is amazing! The bullet was so close to escaping
I love the implosion. Something satisfying about that little *pop*
Slow-mo Fly>> Slow-mo spaghetti >> Slow-mo Gel shots
Okay, UA-cam. I could definitely stare at this all day.
0:17 the gel slurped the bullet back in??!
Comeback here u little sh*t!! U thought u would shot me and run?
The implosion pulled the bullet back in. Truly rare and remarkable.
This is one of those videos everyone is going to randomly be recommended in a few years
That rifle round capture was something else.
0:15 It's so satisfying how it almost goes all the way through, and then gets pulled back.
Broo if you look closely at the top it's like a water drop going into a puddle.
Somehow, I assumed the bullets were made from ballistic gel, so I wanted to see what ballistic gel being shot into ballistic gel looked like
So I wasn't the only one
You assumed bullets were made out of gel? What is this supposed to be, a gel blaster?
@@mouthbreather280 I wanted to know if someone managed to freeze or harden the gel in someway, and clicked to know why. People keep inventing weird weapons so I wouldn't be too surprised if someone did. Maybe shoot them with an air rifle. Biggest reason, I looked at the thumbnail and though the shockwave cone left by the bullet was the picture of a gel bullet inserted into ballistic gel
@Jesus has given you all. Repent or die. U want me to die?
reminds me of mythbusters where they try to make a disappearing bullet. They try make it out of ice, meat and I think also ballistic gel
I'm glad we're watching what UA-cam recommends to us together
First shot vs second is a good example of why more power isnt always better. The most damage to the body is done not from the puncture but from the transfer of kinetic energy from the bullet to the target. If the bullet is too fast and just goes all the way through, it takes most of that energy with it, leaving just a hole and relatively minor damage. Same thing applies to stuff like anti tank rounds. You want them strong enough to go through the first wall of armor but ideally not out the second one, even better if they splinter inside the target.
Wow! That's just amazing, and what is even more amazing is that the video searched for you, but you didn't!
That second shot was insane
Glad to see how everyones a scientist here
It's weird how interesting this is.
Sonoluminescence is the emission of light from imploding bubbles in a liquid when excited by sound.
This is gonna blow up soon
Like the gel did
0:18 did i just see a spark?
yes
@@kdgilroy4 why ?
Implosions.
A spectacular implosion
similar to what happens in a diesel engine, oil from the gel gets compressed by that temporary cavity closing back in on it rapidly after violently expanding. The compression causes the oils to combust like a fuel
This amazingly satisfying, I don’t know why, but it is, and I love it
I watch these ballistics videos to get an idea of what rounds are best to defend myself with against criminals
Reminds me of the show Mythbusters back in the day!
this is actually really good to watch.
That looks so freaking cool! Saving this video for later!
It resembles the bullet time effect of the Matrix movies, very cool!
I really am fascinated by the second one exiting the block to be sucked back into the block. So cool how physics works. Surface tension?
No, just the elasticity of the gel
POV: you first watched the fly, then the Spagetti and now this 😃
Edit: this blew up 😂 Don't accept all them cookies next time guys!
Wtf yea
@@ferrigino9967 lets goo🤣
i’m here from the fly lmao
I watched none 😎
@@TommyTom21 😲😲
Super satisfying to watch
That is the clearest ballistic gen I have ever seen.
That first one was the ultimate power dump and the second was an amazing catch
5.36k subs. You're gonna blow up soon
Woah, the rifle round created some sort of internal explosion in the gel. I wonder why.
Actually other rounds did it too. It happens because the gel captures the gas inside it and as it closes itself up, the captured gas heats up very quickly due to the rapid increase of pressure so it ends up imploding and creating a short burst of plama (ionized gas particles)
The gas still need some kind of "fuel" to burn this phenomenon the same as how something burn in atmosphere re-entry. In this case the gel surface get heated and then burn, that's my opinion
@@anonymousstout4759 cavitation bubble and the same reason the piston shrimp gets that name.
@@anonymousstout4759 no it just gets really hot
Watch firing guns under water. Happens even more…
Seeing that cavitation was really cool
I love how the rifle round goes, "actually, I kinda like it in here"
And thats how FLESHlights are made
Alright I'm in the slow motion video loop now
Looks like when I take a giant dump, that's how my colon feels.
I feel like a 2nd-grade teacher watching the same presentation for the 15th year in a row. But, hey, anything for YT hits.
cavitation, it's why very light, very fast rounds are more effective than slow, heavy ones, the velocity accounts for far more of the energy than the mass. you won't get that kind of effect from a .45
So THIS is how fleshlights are made.
This gell needs to be the new armor plating of our tanks
The first guy is me trying to hold everything in my life with oneself.
you just created a few universes
crazy, that's the stuff happening in the bodies of the people fighting wars right now
the fact a rifle bullet got pulled back into the gel just shows how strong this material is
Now I know few more things.
Didnt know id be making stuff like this
That rifle round coming out the end and getting sucked back in is so good.
Reminds me of my ex
The silence in these videos is so eerie
I'd survive all of them easily.
I don't know what is this but I like it, it's satysfying
So *this* is how they make Fleshlight sleeves? Neat.
That’s some wild stuff, you can literally see the massive energy from a projectile.
This is so COOL!!!
Underrated
That's gel look strong enough to save my life from bullet
The shockwave could probably end my life from organ failure
This is how fleshlights are made
Gel yanked that bullet. Like
'Come here, where do you think you are going?'
Great video
Actual flesh will have varying layers and densities, fibers and "grain", along with oddly-shaped geometries and structures.
I understand the need for standardized uniform ballistic gel blocks. But does it simulate/demonstrate the actual effects of bullets in flesh with good accuracy?
It's probably just meant to simulate the average density of soft flesh and so wouldn't represent an actual penetration all too well. But, making a 100% accurate model would be pretty costly, and also functionally pointless.
So this was how my flesh light was made
Bullet : Just when i thought i was out they pull me back in.
Tony S. : Tell me about it.
That rifle round looking like it's about to exit that block, but gets sucked right back in 💯👌
That's beautiful!
I'm not the biggest fan of this flavour of jelly but I do like the strawberry flavour
Its more awesome than the Hollywood vfx
Yes, these will surely inflict harm and pain onto me; might even kill me
Solid content.
No background, no history, no how much it cost, no how his wife ask him for 5 bucks this morning.
Plus its damn satisfying sir! I love it.
What video did you see before where someones wife ask him for 5 bucks?
“Hey guys, so today we’re going to be…” lol fuck that noise

Welp, I'm not even imagining what it must do to a human body
If and when we go to war with jello this will have been quite valuable.
Well all I've learnt is what NOT to have in the event I ever need to protect myself from a bullet.
The first one, I'm just imagining the sound that would be coming out of that gel 😆
The Gel be like "Get over herrrrre!" to the bullet 😂
"How to make a fleshlight in 0.2 seconds"
How was called the effect that described that explosion due the rapid change in pressure?
cavitation?
@@shogoyo788 Yeahh I think it is! The same thing as the bullet shrimp!
Sorry what!! The bullet exited, and a tendrill of gell sucked it back!!!!
If only i could use this thing as armour, no man will stop me and my puddgy armour
forget bulletproof glass, i want this block of gel protecting me
Rifle Bullet "Imma go straight through this gel!"
Gel " Oh no you don't, mister. You get back here!"
Damn I can't believe this is how Fleshlights are made
😠📸
Time to buy an armor of ballistic jelly
I don't ever want to get hit by a bullet.
Im guessing the one that exited the top was 556 but who knows caliber wasnt told.
Good to know a rectangular shaped belly will protect vital organs from a shotgun blast
