"Wir konnten gar nicht fassen, wie viel sich von Euch in den letzten Tagen mit der Thematik unseres Kurzclips auseinandergesetzt haben. Es gab einen tollen Austausch mit sehr viel Lob, aber auch kritischen Stimmen, die einen besonders wunden Punkt treffen:
Im Mai diesen Jahres haben wir genau diese Aktion mit mehr Liedern OHNE Kamera durchgeführt. Wir fanden die Aussage dieser Aktion so gut, dass wir uns entschlossen haben, daraus einen Clip zu machen, der andere anregen soll, Ähnliches zu tun.
Vor dem Filmdreh haben wir uns folgende Frage gestellt: Darf man einfach einen Menschen in Not filmen und ins Netz stellen, ohne ihn zu fragen und seine Geschichte zu kennen? Unsere Antwort ist hier ganz klar nein, weshalb wir einen Schauspieler um Hilfe und Rat gebeten haben, diese Rolle zu übernehmen.
Bitte schaut Euch dieses Video-Statement an, dort erklären wir unsere Beweggründe detaillierter. Wenn wir jemanden verletzt oder enttäuscht haben, so tut es uns sehr leid. Das war natürlich nicht unsere Absicht, sondern das Ganze stellt einen symbolischen Denkanstoß dar, der die Menschen nochmal in sich gehen lassen soll.
Wir meinen es mit unserem Verein absolut ernst und sammeln seit einigen Wochen aktiv Spenden für kommende Aktionen. Dabei sollen Projekte, Vereine und hilfsbedürftige Personen direkt und nachhaltig unterstützt werden.
Einige Kommentare gehen leider auch unter die Gürtellinie, was sehr verletzend und demotivierend für uns ist. Wir bleiben trotzdem am Ball, weil wir an die Sache glauben."

We could not believe how much of you have analyzed this video in the last view days. There was a lot of praise, but also a lot of critical voices making a particular sore point.
In May of this year, we performed like this with more songs and WITHOUT a camera. We liked the message of what we were doing so we decided to turn it into a video in order to encourage others to possibly do the same.
Before filming we asked ourselves the following question: Can we simply film a person in distress and put it up on the internet, without asking them or knowing their history? Our answer is quite clearly no, which is why we have hired an actor to take on this role.
Please look at our video statement (Statement & Hintergründe: Three German students surprise a homeless guy), where we explain our rationale in more detail. If we have hurt or disappointed anyone, we are very sorry. Of course that was not our intention.
We are very serious about our non profit organisation and we have been collecting for some weeks now.

What these students did was awesome. Even though it states in their video description (in german) that this wasn't a real homeless man, they did also state that this was a remake of when they did the same thing with a real person but without cameras. That said that they had used an actor because they felt it would be disrespectful to the homeless person if they are filmed suddenly without permission for a video from which they make no money themselves (only used as a prop, really) Love from Switzerland

Better to "scam" a few bypassers for less than $10 total, rather than violating an actual homeless person's right and/or possibly putting the person into a situation that might overwhelm them in a negative sense, possibly suddenly make him/her "infamous" or even a meme.
Of course it's viral marketing, but still has a very legit point - homeless people deserve attention and respect, even if it's just a friendly nod in their direction. Just imagine sitting in a well populated place, fighting for your living - and being the loneliest person around. Would kinda suck after a few minutes, right? For them it's part of their daily life.

Because often times, rather than focus on the homeless man (in this case), they only focus on themselves, the "good deed" they just did and pat themselves on the back, as if they're somehow special...Many do these videos for the attention and views and to show everyone how "selfless" they are, but in reality, it was always about them and them alone...

It is horrible to read some comments here... Just a mirror of what society is in those days. It was in my opinion never the idea of those students to sing so that he gets some extra coins. It was to make him feel that some people still see him, recognize him as a human being and not as rubbish. You can see on his reaction when he boy asks for the basket that he is really doubtful and his body language is saying protection. But while they are sitting there with him on the ground, he is getting more and more relaxed.
Everybody who is thinking something bad about these video should feel ashame and ask hisself what happend to think in this ways...

Maybe he enjoyed it, but he doesn't seem very comfortable in my eyes. He reacts the same way I would in that situation... What if he has social anxiety and wouldn't want to be the center of attention, especially as a homeless person? Would've been nice to do this without the cameras (from several different angles)

Nachtrag: ich wusste vorher nicht das dieser "obdachlose" in Wirklichkeit keiner war und die Szenerie gestellt war. Das ist zwar schade, die Message des Videos bleibt aber trotzdem erhalten, finde ich.
Naja ist schon seltsam, wenn da einer kommt, nach nem Eimer fragt und der Kameramann drumrum läuft und Aufnahmen macht, ich denke das war ein Studienprojekt. Aber wirklich großen Daumen hoch für die Message.
Und Leute, wenn ihr einkaufen geht und seht, davor bettelt jemand, dann kauft eben noch ein paar Brötchen mehr, darüber freut sich jeder und ihr setzt ein Zeichen.

You know guys, it's not always about helping that one person. Actually, it's not even about that particular homeless guy, it's about us, as viewers. This video is addressed to us mostly, help us get in touch with our emotions and maybe encourage us to help more people in our lives, homeless or not. Sure, the homeless guy in the video will not stop being homeless with some euros, but it's a nice act, even if it's for them to gain fame and money (as some people say). There are other "cheats" to make someone famous on UA-cam, but these guys chose to "help" a homeless person.
