The 'Plodcast' tickled me 😂 come over from Lucy's channel. Enjoying finding new content, especially inspiration to get the trainers on and going for a jog/run.
Totally with Lucy on the dog front. I also have a dog that people are drawn to and it makes for constant people approaching. However, my experience is that is usually general public and usually the less intimidating looking folks.

LucyShawVlogs fan, here!! I comment as I listen along with podcasts so read or don't. 😁
    Storm, heheheheeee, how perfect! 🤗
Lucy is always appropriately transparent and people relate to her and admire her so much for it. The point she made on her relationship to food at her highest weight and how she was feeling like she was sort of no one in her own right was *so well* expressed. I have been there-feeling for my own reasons that food was that "one thing" bc I had no "me" outside of being an (abused, then, now divorced) wife and mother of 3. ...Lucy just said it *exactly* right. Yes, this happens to so many of us women, especially, in our own unique stories.
The host...bless his heart, he came across as if he thinks being a man in the military is the same as being a military wife and PT single mom...sorry, but I hope he meant he could relate to some kind of food dependency instead of trying to assume he knows what a woman ever goes through. That mentioned, I do like the "Plodcast" name-that's actually quite funny.
Wow...Lucy's point on "feeling human again" in connection with seeing her do for herself something that made something in her awaken from the outside in and the inside out...(her words were better), this line of thinking is profound. Such a contemplative prompt.
That's interesting on the clubs where the host lives being almost 90% women! Where I am, the clubs are over 50% men, and the women fight to keep up-my area is pretty competitive, though. I wish I had an area club to join sometime with more women and less pressure near me.
Thank you to the host for asking about what men can do "out there". My answer is: Look out as you pass women for any man who looks like trouble or a man who seems to be "joining" her and the woman looks uncomfortable or is trying to ignore him but he isn't taking the message, and jog over and ask, "Do you want him here?" Just taking the initiative to scare a bad one off is such a relief. Then "tip your hat" once he is gone and let the women keep going wherever she was headed. That is something we need from time to time. That said, if you see a woman hanlding her own stuff, just hang around and make sure he leaves and don't intervene. You don't want to disempower a woman but if she is losing, step up. Also, don't strike up a conversation with a woman who is hoofing it just because she smiled as you pass-its not an invitation. Those things, yeah.
Matt texting while marathon running! 😏
Those spooky/creepy/negative experiences *can* really leave you scarred in a way and that's terrible. But the positive is those instances can teach us how important SM boundaries are and if anyone needs to not answer PMs, then don't. No one owes anyone an explanation for their own boundaries.
I have also been in the 170s for about 2 years after starting at right at 220lbs. I am currently working harder to get to a 155 goal, whereas before I had 142 in mind (but I am not as tall as Lucy, I think, and height has to factor in). I think that whatever the number we are each content at, that we respect the journey with that "every step is a cause for celebration" approach, as Lucy has said on her channel. ❤
Preach, Lucy, on loving your body as a woman in Western society! You men don't even get what a challenge just giving yourself permission is, let alone embracing it full force. Very few of us truly get there. Lucy is a hero to *so* many women!! 🏆
The one mile story. Beautiful. I'm smiling so big hearing that one.
200 miles, Matt! My oldest is like this. I am not. When I meet a goal, I feel accomplished. I am curious about other distances, but I don't feel a drive to "do better, be better" because I did what I set out to do...and maybe because life has taught me not to want too much.
What kind of person wastes time by actually taking time to criticize someone else's road snacks during a race??! That is actual insanity!
Lucy fans are watching for the weight pack video-woooo!!! 🤗
It was SUCH a pleasure to "be in the room" for such a great chat that lasted this length! It felt so natural and I appreciate the men listening so well. I don't think I have ever seen 2 men allow 1 woman being interviewed so much of the floor. That part impressed (even though it should be the norm, but since it isn't, Cheers!).

Thank you for your comments. Love that you write these down as you go, gives a real sense of being part of the conversation. I would like to address the one comment though, just so you understand where I was coming from.
100% I could never fully understand what it is like to be a military wife, but I did grow up with my mother being one. I watched her have limited choices for her own future in that lifestyle, whilst being the rock that kept the family going. Most of my memories from that time are where we lived in what appeared to be a single parent household, as dad was always away working. I think this gives me a really good understanding of Lucy’s situation to be fair. I absolutely admire military wives, it’s not a life everyone could cope with. 😊
Please stick around, would be great to hear your view on some of the other conversations we have ☺️

Absolutely brilliant response thank you for getting these down on a page as it flows, this is how we want all our "plods" to flow too, so it sounds like we are on the right track, very open and honest conversations that feel like we're sat amongst friends chatting about the things we love! like Freddy says below, stick around if you would, be great to get some insights into an episode or two! Thanks again!

Such a great podcast. Loved listening all the way from North Carolina in the US! I found Lucy around the same time I found Freddy last year. Question about shoes for a 210 pound person. I'm on my 2nd pair of Brooks Ghost. Is there a better shoe out there for an overweight wannabe runner. I've been to running stores to be fitted in the past and while they will feel great on in the store after a few days wearing them, my feet hate me. Any recs would be great.

loving this vlog thanks all (Freddy & Lucy I already follow you, how can I follow Scott too??) I'd love to think about starting my own YT channel for slow runner content (seriously, slow back of the pack jeffer here). What camera set up and editing stuff do you all use, is it easy? Have no tech skills....

Freddy - 24 mins for a 5km, jeez! I'm 5ft4, 167lbs and i'm lucky if I can get to a 38 mins 5km. It's relative as you say but never say you're "not quick", i'd say that's a great time and a huge improvement on where you were even 6 months ago, excellent work!

    • @nicmarlow6388

I'm torn with the "always doing better" thing. I think there is something positive in wanting to get better times etc but there are different "wins" for each run imo. Time isn't how I always dictate whether a run/event was good or not. I think sometimes just being able to enjoy the experience more and not worry about time is really vital. My times have got slower over the recent years (i'm nearly 45 so not old but certainly not a young spring chicken) but I tend not to worry about whether i've beaten my last time as I personally find that an unhealthy obsession and it can take away from a completely enjoyable experience with a negative "oh well I could have done better" thoughts which mean i'm not happy even if i've had a great time out. Trails are a completely different beast too and even if you do the same one time and time again, weather/mood/food/hydration all play a part in whether you get the same time as last time. It's tricky as wanting to beat previous times is something to spur you on but I don't tend to put it at the top of my list as to whether i've had a good time or not. Just my thoughts though, I realise everyone is different and some people can not beat themselves up if they dont quite live up to their own expectations. Like Lucy said, as long as it doesn't consume you and take the joy away.

1: generally nothing to listen to but I have recently got into audiobooks so if i'm out for a long solo weekend run then i'll put one on to distract my brain. (if I were to listen to music it would be anything upbeat, pop, soft rock etc).
2: max £120. I wear brooks adrenaline for road and the north face vectiv for trail (and salomon for more aggressive trail)
3: love Lucho Dillitos for a quick sugar hit. Also little pouches of baby food are amazing! (particularly like apple&strawberry ones, they are a quick hit but smooth on the stomach) and a salted boiled potato cannot be beaten on a long run! I don't like it myself but loads of people swear by Kendal Mint Cake.
and @lucyshawvlogs - don't laugh at yourself, if *I* can think about stepping up and attempting a 100km (6th July this year 😬 ) then you DEF can!! :D
