Listen to this Gen Xer who lived off both 55th & 56th ave. Back in the 70s when we first moved to Lauderhill from over by Dillard high there weren’t many blacks it was mostly jews & Italian. My mom even worked in the home of an Italian family that owned a wine company named the Gallos. They put low income black families in the apartments that’s backed up to the turnpike which is where I lived. I went to Royal Palm Elementary & Lauderhill middle. It was a prosperous city with no crime. I remember how badly my family wanted to rent in tree garden as it was pristine. We ended up moving into the apartments directly in front of them because we were on section 8. We also lived on 27th ct. off 56th known now as u street. I have swam in every last pool in deepside as we would often trespass into the large complexes. It was my brother & his friends that named that side of Lauderhill “deepside” in the 80s. I also remember how u would be stopped by the police if u entered Inverray off Oakland & 56th. It was home to the television stars such as Jackie Gleason. Often times u could see Frank Sinatra & Sammy Davis, Jr with Gleason playing golf off Rock Island Rd. near Oakland park Blvd. Lauderhill back then was a playground for some and an unknowable trap for others. I remember when I became pregnant with my one & only child I brought him home to 5820 NW 27th ct. to my mother’s surprise 😊. We had a close community back then. Some Haitian’s & Jamaican’s immigrated moving in next door & we all had to acclimate to each other’s culture which at times (many years) wasn’t easy however, overtime we became one. Looking back now I can see the deliberate measures taken to by those in positions of power to defund the city turning it into what we currently see today. Grouping low income individuals together is a recipe for disaster because one can only survive and not thrive. All of that is done by design. Sadly, to this day my brother is one caught up in the system that led to him being homeless off 55th while my other brother turned to heavy drugs & my last brother passing away. My sister & I along with a few cousins & friends decided not to fall in the trap & are ok. In conclusion, Lauderhill was such a beautiful place to live & will always hold a place in my heart as all my memories are there. I witnessed in this video good hearted people who would probably give u the shirt off their backs if u were in need. We deepsiders are loving individuals just some playing the hand they were dealt. Shout out to Speedy, Dexter, Lydia, Tooka,, Red, Reggie, Barry, Peaches & the crew. Deepside babyyy! ❤
The Inverrary section of Lauderhill was a Jewish stronghold made up of mostly retirees & individuals at leisure. It was exclusive, sort of like a private city within a city. Inverrary Gardens was no different than any other complex in Inverrary as it was crawling with well to do white men whom loved playing golf. Golf carts were driven probably more than actual cars. That’s all u could see literally everywhere often time stopping traffic as they casually crossed the busy street. Inverrary Gardens had beautiful landscaping as did all of that section of the city. Some of Inverrary was not built out and resembled a forest. Inverrary even had a nice cozy park that couples would frequent in the night hours that was just south of IG. But all of that is gone since the housing boom. Majority of the Jewish community is gone too moving out west to Plantation & then again heading north to Parkland. However, there is still a remnant in Inverrary off 44th. Did u or family live there?

Law enforcement did a great job there although some of them can be jack a..s. But overall, they are ok. And because of cost of living, lot of houses, apartments, condos got to be sold to people with different mentally. That really help with the transition.

Lived in broward my whole life and always had good vibes going through lauderhill and plantation side do a lot of work in the nursing homes around there and the city. Might be the hood but the people will show you love like no other 💪⁉️
HOODVLOVGS KEEP DOING THING WITH THE VLOGS KEEP THEM COMING 💯💯💯👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Why dont you do a vlog on Zay Flowers neighborhood in Lauderhill? He does events out there for the neighborhood like Zay Day,... I used to teach a bunch of kids from that neighborhood. Love those kids...
I live in Lauderhill. Lauderhill is not too bad. Just show respect, and people will give it back. Some of the young dudes be on that time, but mostly people just be retaliating. Do people get shot or killed? Yes, all the time. Mostly, though, just show people their respect. That's over there by the Boys and Girls Club. China Hut is wild, lol.
I remember growing up they scared ppl from going to deep side but nothing but love over there, still have to be careful. 954!
Back in day we had lock haven on 56 and Oakland jumping ❤🙌
Can’t believe they covered deepside on hood vlogs that’s what’s up! I lived in the south Florida all my life and never been there and always stayed far away from deepside lol.
Yo People was bias then
I remember before the overpass from Lauderhill middle. It used to be an underpass after you cross the turnpike. You didn't go to deepside unless you had fam over there or connected friends. One love Deepside/Shallow side Lauderhill 💯
Lol if you couldn't fight you couldn't go over the overpass. I got into a lot of fights on there.
@@kendall3959 all facts!!
It use to be called "The Jungle" when it use to go under the turnpike. Omar what side you from. I grew up on 18.
@@kendall3959 I grew up on shallow side 20th st off of 47th Ave . Down the street from Lauderhill middle.
Bro y'all boys messed up our Halloween tradition. Every Halloween we had a egg fight and one year somebody from Shallow Side shot my homeboy in the arm. It's crazy because Deepside and Shallow Side actually get along. We use to play football after school behind Lauderhill Middle. Lol but y'all boys would never come on our side though.
R.i.P to my twin marimar deep side was the place we was raised fresh from Puerto Rico!!!
I have been in most of these areas , can’t wait to see improvements in Lauderhill.
I remember when Devonhut was all white, my Aunt was the first Black to own there.
As a Floridian and broward county dude. This shi kinda sad but its really life fr

Raised in Broward my whole life. I'm 29. Know enough friends and copped enough times from Lauderhill to know; These are some of the most kind hearted gangsters you'll ever meet. Just don't fk with their money(If you even get close).
A phrase I know: "We won't rob you; But we might run your bank dry".
Love my city. #CoralSprings
I’m originally from Harlem, but live part time in Lauderhill. My FL friends definitely turn up their noses at Lauderhill, but the more you get to know the people, the more you realize we are all very similar.
Damn I appreciate you visiting my hood real talk💯
I'm from Queenz but Lauderdale will always be my 2nd Home..
That plaza across the street I used to fix the roof leaks and everything else. At the other end of plaza there was a Dennys. Then south a half a block on the west side of the street is a U street. I know about the u street
That's crazy 🤣 I just was thinking of a tee stunna bar today he said, " everybody spinning man these jits dese days fu*kn dese Streets/ but if they all spinning shitttt that's mo money for me 😂😂😂😂😂😂🤞🏾💯💪🏾
Much love to lauderhill, Chico from Hialeah n Homestead, now I’m up in Pasco Florida
Lived in this area for a little over a decade. Trust me, it’s not that back at all. There used to be very little criminal activities there. I mean, very very little. Now it’s much better. Law enforcement did a great job there although some of them can be jack a..s. But overall, they are ok. And because of cost of living, lot of houses, apartments, condos got to be sold to people with different mentally. That really help with the transition.
This HoodVlog was dope. Shout out from 🇨🇦
Grown up in deep side grow up and had to get out the area you got to watch your back all the time
Im from Venezuela and im living in this hood, shit trust me Venezuela its worst, i feel like im in paradise right now, salute to my people from Lauderhill

I had so many fights at Royal palm. I use to go to the boys and girls club by the corner store they tore down. I use to stay off 54 terrace and 18 ct, now its a gated community.
If you know Lauderhill, you know sandal Groove on 19th Street. That was some wild times
I use to live there back in the day.
@@tyronemontgomery4876 that spot was between Deep side (56st) and the City (sunrise i-95 east)
The chick with the pink tank top has a cool clothing line. I think she was on hood vlogs before.
