Brilliant stuff, Sam. Thinking back to Dunfermline's memorable achievements over the years, I well recall as a then 12yo the surprise, pain and sheer disbelief on learning, courtesy of Saturday's Classified Football Results, that Celtic had lost 2-0 AT HOME to Dunfermline in the first round of the Scottish Cup, January 1968. (My only "consolation"? The Pars went on to win the competition, beating Rangers' conquerors Hearts in the Final.) And Dunfermline's performances and results in the following season's European Cup-Winners Cup competition were stunning. Gotta say that I'm mightily impressed with your channel - the variety of content, the telling of the stories (which often include non-football material but which is clearly related and equally interesting), and the excitement and enthusiasm you convey and display. And having access now (this Comment dated 1 June 2024) to players and managers post match adds another dimension. The ground you were at in beginning of thr video is Dunfermline Sports Club, hosts the cricket, rugby and squash clubs. The side you were on is the cricket side though thr rugby 1st team play on that side too which is why there is the stand there. In normal times, the football club train on the cricket side for preseason until October time, then use Keltys ground, but in covid times we use Alloa ground this now.
Im a Pars fan and I didnt know the story about the badge! One of the best Dunfermline stories however, was when we played Valencia in the 1962 Fairs Cup and had lost the 1st leg in Spain 4-0. For the return leg, Jock Stein decided to put an untried 16 year old school boy and a 19 year old european debutant in the team just for the experience... We won 6-2 (6-6 on aggregate) Scoring 4 goals in the first 34 minutes. Back then instead of away goals or penalties, it went to a deciding leg which would be played in Lisbon, where we lost 1-0. Apparently everyone who turned up for the game at East End Park that night say that that was our best ever game at home ever. No British side had previously beaten Valencia and those they'd played were Rangers, Celtic, Wolves, Manchester United, Blackpool and Birmingham and they had won the tournament the previous year beating Barcelona in the Final 7-3 on Aggregate. That 16 year old schoolboy was Alex Edwards and the 19 year old was Jackie Sinclair who would between them score 3 of our 6 goals that night... I couldnt even imagine what this would be like for me to witness... My Grandad was there that night and always kept the highlights recorded on a VHS video which he kept on the book shelf, which also had the big games against Everton and West Brom and both the Cup final wins on it and I'd always watch it with him everytime I'd come stay at my Gran and Grandads and cheer along as if I was there in time with him just as he cheered all those years ago... Football eh...

Before you had the away goals rule Dunfermline had the greatest comeback in European Football competition when they lost 4-0 to Valencia away from home only to win 6-2 at home on an icy night a week before Christmas 1962. In those days you had a playoff game at neutral venue which we lost 1-0. Barcelona stole our record post away goals rule when they came back against PSG from a 4-0 defeat to win 6-1 in second leg
