I just stopped dying my hair about two months ago. I don't have that much gray yet, and definitely wondered whether I have enough. It's so weird that we're expected to keep damaging the majority of our hair to cover our grays, but once the grays are the majority, they're fine and we don't have to dye them anymore? Oooookay.
Also, I think "cookies & cream" is good alternative for "salt and pepper."

Omg I LOVE that! Cookies and cream!!!! And yes you are so right ! I was damaging my hair into the same pattern I already had!!!

I decided to ditch the dye and grow out my salt and pepper hair about a month ago. My roots are coming in and I'm shocked how beautiful and shiny the silver-white strands are. Can't wait to see how it looks fully grown out. I'm 32 and people say I'm too young to do this but I've had greys since my early 20s and it's a part of my natural beauty I want to embrace. Thank you for the video!

I’m also salt and pepper ❤
I’m still growing out the blonde highlights. I like my hair finally. I now know how to style my waves. I used to cut it all the time, now I wear it

Totally agree. I'm 68. I last dyed my hair on December 1st, 2019. I'm 4 years in and still have lots of dark hair, but I also have silver white around my face and through the dark, and I love it. People like my hair, and it is salt and pepper. I did it to be the authentic colour that genetically I'm meant to be. Salt & pepper is a wonderful colour for hair. ❤

Love your hair! I’m about a year in and have an amazing stylist. She did highlights at first then toners. I hated that weird orange color of the old highlights and finally just got a short bob to get rid of most of them. Honestly now I’m not sure if some of my highlights are part of my natural color or remnants of the dye but don’t care, I’m loving this overall natural color that is almost just like yours. Like a lot of people I had no idea what color my natural hair would be because of so much dye. I’m trying to grow it our longer now and enjoying playing with the color with purple and black shampoo. Mine is also like yours in that it’s hard to tell what color it really is depending on the light, I love that super shiny dark platinum color that I get with black shampoo. I also really think my natural color goes so much better with my skin, which ultimately makes me look younger rather than older. The dye seemed to accentuate the few wrinkles I’m getting (I’m 56). Thanks for sharing!

29 yo here. Thanks for your videos! Your hair is beautiful. (: Mine has been greying since I stopped dying it 5 years ago (who knows how long before that haha). I’m always caught between embracing it and dying it. I tried dyeing once and it didn’t help w/ the frizz so I gave up after that.

Unfortunately not all of us get nice salt and pepper gray. Remember that you might not get the cool pretty colors you see on many videos, even with purple shampoo. I did a few yrs of grow out and the bangs and some areas around my head were a pretty silver. The rest of my hair was a strange brown color which after about 2 yrs I am ready for change. I dont want to add dye and chase the gray again BUT I do want a nicer tone than I have. I decided to bleach and tone to a lovely silver color. This way I can grow out gray and it will blend without using dye. My hair is healthy so the process went well.

@@grayawhile your hair is gorgeous. The end of June 2022 was my last box dye. It’s going so slow. I have so many colors going on. When it’s down I don’t like it. If I pull it back with a big claw clip the front underside is white so I’ve been keeping it pulled back. I’ve noticed the last month I’m seeing more slate gray with dark patches. Definitely salt and pepper. I’m not sure if slate gray is the correct word. Was feeling bummed the past week as I don’t like it. I remember feeling this way a few other times. It’s forever changing my hair. Your video brought me hope. I did at the beginning have highlights and toner. Looked good but two weeks later the most horrible neon orange strips. Yuck!! That took months to go away. Still have a lot of red tones coming thru. My hair is shoulder length and still has so much dark. I know I have to be patient. Thanks again for your video. Going to sub your channel. Have a good evening. Brenda

I am 43 and I have been dying my hair before it was cool .. born dirty blonde prefer any dark color but since my accident, in 2020 I have noticed long gray white and hair is mix match places .. my issue is my hair now doesn't enjoy color or ash colors .so perfect time to grow out my natural gray hair? Perhaps... should I just frost my hair and use the pigment purple /blue shampoo to get the brassy tones out ... ?

I hate my salt and pepper hair! It still has a lot of dark in it and there are ZERO products that will enhance the lighter parts while not making the dark go "off" or weird. The salt and pepper washes out my skin tone and needs to be cooler. I'm two inches away from going back to colouring my hair as mine IS DULL. Yours has more of a smokey colour that is nice. Mine is very dark mixed with super silver but, not nearly enough silver to look nice. LOATHE it.
