    Hello everyone! I am not very good with words and emotions, but I am thinking of everyone in Ukraine, of protestors in Russia and of those of you who have been anxiously watching the news from around the world. I am sharing this link going around social media, of actions to take linktr.ee/RazomForUkraine
    I hope everyone is taking care of themselves, and I hope this video can be some light hearted content for some time away from how heavy these last few days have been.

    The sizing up tip if you're in between is a must. When I get a smaller size, they do look SO much better, but then I NEVER wear them, hahaha, so there's no point and it's money wasted.

    yes to high rise and barrel jeans! You were on the fence about the size of the back pocket, but a big back pocket is usually a sign of good quality denim! I recommend the ribcage 99% cotton 1% elastane versions; I have a dark and light pair and really like their rigid but comfy combo. -Misun

      Sometimes they're also a sign of bad design because pocket size and placement are factors in making your backside look good lol

    Just subscribed! :) I just wanted to say I came across this video because I was looking for some additional guidance on the fit of barrel jeans (I have a pair from Toteme and seem to be in between sizes) and wow, is this an awesome video! I absolutely love how detailed you are on everything verbally and telling us the exact details of the denim and the sizing...it's just so incredibly helpful. Also, side note that we are the same height and measurements, so that's a bonus for me too lol ♥

    Personaly, now that you mentioned, I use to be in a Jeans store,. Anand, even that I'm a Levy's fan, I stood to a Lucky brands pair of denim. The bags placement always hit well at my hips, even thou, is a 1 size larger. But I figure out to avoid wash them frecuently, fabric turns tiner for the feecuent wash, and use the clothing dryer. Finally I figure out fabric café. You are right. Between my mistakes, I learn the proper care of denim.

    I personally think the mid rise looks more flattering on you compared to the ultra high rise because it shows a bit more of your torso!

    Hi Helen, great video as always! IMO, for your proportion, you suit mid rise jeans best. Agree that low jeans make the tummy looks obvious etc, but the higher rise jeans make your upper body look shorted than it is.

    I just recently found out about keeping the edge and I'm so mad that tailors don't suggest it! I can't unsee now that all my denim look weird with the new hem and that's why I think they look bland after I get them tailored :(

    Thank you so much for these jeans tips! This past half year I've really been searching for my perfect jeans, reading lots and lots of guids and tips but having trouble since I'm so short and also my body shape. I finally found some stretchy barrel jeans that are really cheap too (though unfortunately pretty bad quality...) but they are my ideal jeans~ Tried on lots of Levi's (ingluding the ribcage which looked absolutely horrible on me!) but none of them fit right... Hopefully I'll find my ideal Levi's in the future!

    I miss my first pair of Levi’s, I used to live in my barrel jeans. After I got into weightlifting I doubled in size, it was quite quick as I’m only 5ft 😂- so I want to get a made and crafted version in my size currently. And side note I recommend if anyone is curvier or a muscular build and u struggle with jeans- best bet will be mom jeans, rib cage, and barrel cuts- opt for oversize or wide leg (or stretchy) ;)🙏

    Such wise words I had once *buffs nails* I'd love to see a dyi video on the hems they turned out great from the looks of it!
    I love wearing different Jean styles. My favorite are very reminiscent of your barrel legged ones, I call them my ugly jeans . Lol and I feel too cool in them! I think owning a few different silhouettes is important in denim, because that way you don't feel like you're wearing the same thing every day!
    Really wish these more high end brands were more size inclusive. But alas!

    Hey! Super helpful tips! I'm trying to decide between two sizes in these Levi's TENCEL High Loose Flare jeans. Never had this fabric before (same 79%cotton, 21% Lyocell) . I'm just curious to know if your "Tencel/Lyocell" Levi's relaxed a bit after wearing them? The 30 fits my waist perfectly, but is definitely really tight across the hips and not very comfortable when I sit down. If they relaxed a liiiitle bit, I think they'd be great though! And then the 31s are too big in the waist and also a little big in the hips, so kinda bunches when I sit. Not sure it would be that easy to get altered? Anyway!
    Thanks so much! :)

    I stopped wearing jeans a couple of years ago because I got SO fed up with the fit. As a 6’ individual with a longer torso “high waist” usually reads as “mid rise” on my body and I hate it! Let’s not even talk about the micro-zipper low rise of the early 00’s! Eek!
    I’m determined to find a pair that works this year!

      6'1 here, and I have no trouble at all finding jeans, even high rise. Current go to is Lee Drew/Stella A-line. Don't bother their measurements, they are bullocks. A 31/31 Drew for example is 32.5/34 in reality, and has a rise of about 38 cm front, 44 back, and that is high! Inner leg is pretty long as well.

    Ahhh man should have went with 27z on most of the jeans I got on thred up. I’ve been wearing 26 for a minute but there’s no way I’m your size… I have to be bigger, you’re like a model lol, I suspect the madewells I got will be tight but I might be ok with the everlane and the Paige ones (which have elastaine)

  • @lovemadeinjapan
    @lovemadeinjapan Рік тому +1

    I would like to add these mistakes/tips:
    1) No mixed fabrics. Denim=100% cotton and nothing else. I only accept partial hemp. Tencel/Lyocell ruin you wash, are impossible to clean, and spandex/lycra will make your jeans change shape over time.
    2) Proper rise. If it stays on you butt, it is a good rise. So I basically rule out low-rise. It never looks good on anybody (including men).
    3) Stop looking in your "section". Male/Female/Kids, it does not matter
    4) Know the measurements of jeans that fit good: waist, hips, inseam, leg opening, front rise, back rise. It is the reason I don't buy new online. Vintage sellers online (I don't mean junk sites like Depop/Vinted/Thredup) alway list all these sizes, and I never have a non-fitting buy there. And take a tape measure to brick-and-mortar stores. Always!

  • @serenity8910
    @serenity8910 2 роки тому

    Finding the best looking pair of jeans is truly the hardest. Personally, I'm quite short and also heavier than average and I definitely have a tummy. If it fits on the leg, it's also too tight on the waist. If the waist fits, the rest looks too big and it's unflattering because I'm short. My ideal denim look would be something like the Levi's High Loose Taper, straight and quite slim and tapers at the ankle. But to be honest, I'm not sure it fits my body type!

    👌what about removing the big label at back of a jean??

    • @lovemadeinjapan
      @lovemadeinjapan 2 роки тому

      Depends, sometimes it is washed with the label, and then the fabric underneath can be really dark. Try take a peek below first. On the other side, if it is one of those black Levi's labels they are ugly as hell, I would get rid of them straight away. I never sell jeans, I bring them to goodwill/recycling container if I'm done with them, so I can do as I like as it does not harm resell value for me. But others might feel different about that aspect.
