Wayne built a very similar build for me just before this bike. Same engine mods. Ohlins front/YSS rears and a bunch of other bits. Quality of work is top notch. Communication was even better. So great to work with. Bike runs great. Probably closer to 15-16hp.
Heck yeah, thanks for sharing! Super cool seeing how many guys are modifying the Monkey platform, the possibilities are endless, depending on how much you want to crack that wallet open lol!
This is an absolute work of art, and the bike that Honda failed to build. This is what a majority of the owners one, a bike that not only looks like a rolling work of art, but that is functional impractical for those of us that actually want to use and keep the bikes for the duration of their life.

It'll be interesting to see if Honda ever toys around with building a production Scrambler version of the Monkey, I think it'd do pretty well in today's market. Oh yeah, the bar setup on this one is money in my opinion!

You went there in person?! How did you bring yourself to leave? I would have offered free labor for a week in exchange for a corner of their yard for a tent and cot. So many cool bikes and so much to learn from a master builder like that.
lol right! Trust me, it was hard to leave that afternoon when the sun was setting. I didn't get 10% of the content I wanted to because of being limited by daylight and all of the bikes having so many little details to film. Aside from the cool bikes, his son has some of the coolest toys you could ask for that I wanted to stay and play with too lol! To say he's got an awesome compound there is an understatement and he couldn't have been nicer to roll out the red carpet for me like he did, just some random guy on the internet. Plus, Wayne got his friends to drag out some bikes and they helped with getting these roller shots to mix things up a bit. I could ramble on about it for an hour lol but all in all, it couldn't have been a better day and I'm super grateful for the experience and the opportunity...
@@HondaProKevin sounds like a blast man. This kinda thing to enthusiasts and gear heads is like Disneyland for little kids.

Same here, can't wait to see what's possible with the Dax platform! There's a possibility that I might be able to get my hands on one for some videos this summer(ish). I don't want to jinx it but fingers crossed!
That looks stunning. The F&R Ohlins really does it for me! About the only thing I'd change would be the pipe. I think that 'Over' pipe is indeed one of the very best looking available HOWEVER, for a deep original sound I still think nothing so far beats the Yoshi RS-3. The Yoshi makes it sound like a full house big brother Honda XR trail bike. Operative word with Yoshi is DEEP BASS. I think in this instance the Over looks a bit better than Yoshi BUT THAT SOUND is what separates the Yoshi from the rest. Great effort on the bike Wayne, absolutely stunning, bloody well done mate!
Indeed, she is stunning! I tried to capture how awesome it looks in video / pictures but it still doesn't do it justice.
I haven't heard the RS-3 in person yet and videos only do them so much justice but from what I can tell by watching sound clips, you're spot on. However, wait till you hear the Over Racing exhaust on the orange Monkey I filmed that day... That thing sounds like a CRF-R motocross bike lol! We're kinda cheating there though as it has extensive engine mods compared to a more simple setup on this green Monkey. The orange Monkey's engine setup makes me want to go into credit card debt for something I can't afford right now, just so I can hear that sound every day haha!
I agree about yoshi sound. Over racing sounds cheap

Wait till you hear the Monkey in my next video... Not only is it sporting 30+ horsepower but it's rolling on a set of BST carbon wheels and the list keeps going lol!
What risers are they on the green monkey? I cannot find anything similar in the UK…

@@HondaProKevin Thanks, Kevin, and I am a total fan and complete tool for the after-market and custom shops and it is all worth it for a special build. And I got to experience that in '78 with two race-campaigned 125 Elsies which I purchased from a gent who wrenched for his hotshot sons in Canton, Ohio. And it was a blast to have FMF this and DG that and so, for sure, I could see something similar when I make the plunge for a new Dax. And I'm already thinking the forks with raised fender on the Monkey would look great on a Dax. :)
It was great meeting you Kevin. Look fwded to your next trip down here. I'm sure there will be yet another batch of custom Monkeys (and Groms, CT125, Trail 125 .. and maybe a DAX 🤫) to oogle over. 😉
Yessir, same to you and thanks again for all of your help with everything! Just need to find a way to slow down time when I get there lol so I can relax and shoot the breeze a little more while still getting some work done. Hopefully the Dax thing works out, it'll definitely bring in some eyeballs for Wayne since American Honda is still dragging their feet on making the announcement for us.

I'm a little biased but having painted hundreds and hundreds of bikes, this is one of my favorite colors I've used. Lots of flop as the light and angle changes. Gives it a very premium look.

Yessir, sweet indeed! The DHM stage 3 setup with an intake / exhaust bumps you up to around the 13-14(ish) wheel horsepower mark which is a massive bump over the stock 7ish whp they put down on the dyno when stock.
Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on some cool Super Cubs soon. Check out Wayne's instagram over at instagram.com/speedshop_wayne as he's built I know of at least one Super Cub with a WILD engine setup.

Lol well, about double the horsepower it puts to the ground when stock is massive in my eyes ;)
Stock bike put down 8.4hp and this one about 13.7hp. Percentage wise that’s pretty “massive”. Imagine a liter sport bike with that much percentage in gain.

bike looks like they just threw a bunch of after market stuff on it, just doesn't work overall IMO. looked better stock then that mess. wasted a lot of money to look like crap.
