For Real
after the announcement I'm HERE for all of it! Dark Road Final Update (Finale) coming in 2 weeks!
In mythology Odin loses an eye to gain his wisdom. That reminds me a lot of a particular other character in KH who mentions putting their Eye somewhere to gain knowledge. Hmmmmm...
Oh dang you think the teacher might be the master of masters?? :0
@@HiHi-lt1cb you'll seeeee
OH SHIIIIT
I don't believe Odin to be the Master but as we're on the Nordic Myth Odin there is also another aspect of him gaining knowledge and that is with his two ravens, Hugin & Munin, who fly across the lands to let him observe. Perhaps he has his own unique way of seeing other worlds while he himself does not leave.
Also, since Dark Road is taking from Norse mythology and there are two tribes it should be noted that there are actually *two* sides on the Norse Pantheon. One is the Aesir, which contain the most popular gods people know of, Odin, Loki, Thor etc. Then there is the Vanir, the lesser known with the only one of note being Freyja, Odin's wife.
Xehanort's classmates names are based on Aesir figures, so I wonder if the upperclassmen are based off of the Vanir since they have faded, dimmed, and vanished from the world.
Well, Freyja isn’t the only notable member of the Vanir, her brother Freyr was massively worshipped as he is the god of fertility and their parents, Njörður and Skaði, are also significant beings in their own right (Njörður is the Poseidon of Norse myth). Also Freyja isn’t Odin’s wife, Frigg is. Freyja’s husband is Óður who for the most part is described to have mysteriously disappeared. Though there are some theories that he and Odin are the same person or Odin was Óður in disguise which is why he vanished suddenly, at the very least there are no surviving sources of Freyja expressing any sort of romantic feelings towards Odin. There’s also other theories about Frigg and Freyja being the same person but that similarly doesn’t have a lot to back it up and their roles in the pantheon doesn’t have any overlap.
When you realize that all of KH lore is a time paradox
Yes. That is how you can know what happens before it happens, because it already happened.
I love the disconnect of how Eraqus is all "Darkness bad", but in gameplay Xehanort is throwing out darkness attacks left and right.
from what I understand, dark road cards are like union x medals, items created by the Book of Prophecy to summon magic from the future to fight
@@firxanza5172that makes it even more funny because Eraqus would just be watching his friend summon his future self's mega destruction dark balls of darkness and destruction and going "yep! That's my best friend who will never be opposed to the light ever in his entire life!"
Yesterday i told myself "i did not really play Dark Road after the first chapter, a recap of the story would be great", an here you are from the KH heavens
Nomura’s wild ride never ends...
"Darkness is bad and always has been." Only a Sith deals in absolutes...
It's not a story the Jedi would tell you
Wouldn't it be pretty likely that Yen Sid is one of the upper classmen? After all we know he was a Keyblade wielder and if aging works like it does in the real world (it probably doesnt) he would have to be around the same age as Eraqus and Xehanort. It would explain how Eraqus goes to him for council in BBS and why there are only three masters chairs in the Land of Departure if they were the only ones from Scala to survive.
Disney characters aren't allowed to affect the plot any more :/
I think that's the most likely outcome, either that or he was training with a different master and was a close friend of Xehanort and Eraqus, but we'll see.
@@SuperNintendawg Cinderella's godmother helped Kairi and Riku find the entrance to Quadratum so they can
@@Sleetysleetman also Eraques said, himself, yensid and Xehanort we're once young keyblade wielders before you depart from Land of Departure as Terra or Aqua during the storyline
@@cyno9843 Yeah, maybe in the mobile game, but I think he was referring to the big games like KHIII and Kh in general
Thank you for this video! I can finally understand more of the game without having to play these mobile games. I appreciate you!
For real👍 whatta time saver.
The Union Cross finale definitely clears up a lot of this!
the fact that the player is actually Xehnort's past life is just.......who would have thought. In a way we're essentially the villain that we have been fighting.
@@LionStaringAuraKingdom what. How? When do they say that? WHAT IS GOING ON I'M SO CONFUSED HELP
@@lucanagato_kogen watch union cross the 1st part you will understand how Xehanort came about from the player you made.
The Player is not Xehanort, or Xehanort being his new life. It's the figure that raised him
Xehanort is probably the first nobody, which is why his name is literally just "No Heart" scrambled with a recusant's sigil
:O
Xehanort describes coming into contact with Darkness as a hollowing, empting experience. Darkness in Zero, as Ansem , the Wise's false name states. It makes one feel like a Nobody, a lose heart as Tarzan says. Further, Tarzan says Clayton loses heart and becomes "not Clayton". Xehanort becomes a "no Heart" with no friends, especially Xemnas.
Maybe kind of like in KH3D the MoM put the recursant sigil in his name if he is a pawn to be able to track him through history
Dude you just fucking blew my mind with the name thing
So a nobody can have a nobody and a heartless? I guess that fits the lore.
Excellent summary of the story. Damo we would be lost without you.
From a Kiwi to an Aussie, mate you're an absolute legend for doing this.
20:35 My only problem with that idea is Xehanort's hair. He has it spiky on DI and early on in Scala Ad Caelum, but when his friends die/meets MoM it's the slicked back one we see in the future. Sure he could just restyle his hair, but the fact that they gave him 2 styles feels like they want to give a timeline. Or it could be misdirection.
I like that his hair changes
I mean, before union cross and dark road, beside kairi's grandmother there was no real family connection between anyone, peoples were just... sentient being travelling the worlds ahah (i know that Sora got parents, but does he really ?). Now we got Eraqus grandfather, Lauriam and Strelizia, Baldr's sister wow
THE BOI IS BACK!!! 2021 really is going to be a great year.
You know, the fact that the master of masters is always seen with his hood on disturbs me way too much and for more than only one reason.
The main one being, what if it's actually a character we already know ?
He could be anyone Nomura wants him to be, a stupidly clever plot device if you ask me
It’s Sora.
@@gflores8985 because everyone is either Sora or Xehanort
I've got a theory on what Xehanort might be fighting against: emptiness, the void, nothingness. If that is the case then perhaps the tool that would be the salvation of the worlds the series has shown us would be... imagination. If one could weild imagination, then one can potentially create, inovate, or transform anything in any way. It might also explain what is in the box Luxu's been guarding, a true book of prophecies, Maleificent did say that, according to legend, it could create whole new worlds. Maybe that is what Xehanort, maybe even the master of masters, is trying to fight, and how.
Odin is Luxu conspiracy STRENGTHENING
AHH I missed these explanation videos!! Great job as always man
Oh man, I hadn't even noticed that the Fortellers' names were based on the seven deadly sins. The leftover sin is Pride, so I guess The Master of Masters' super-secret name might be related to "superbia"?
You're gonna love reading what's etched on top of the black box then
@@damo *facepalm* What does it all meeean?
@@Eruvadhril xsuper
I'm gonna say that Xehanort got his taste of darkness and he ended up being possessed and took down the other 4.
A form of darkness is going to attach itself to Xehanort at some point like how darkness did with Ven. And because Xehanorts darkness is strong already (with darkness being able to be in someone's heart and them not know) he is possessed and takes out the other 4
Before Baldr and Eraques can arrive
Baldr along with Eraques were the two to stop him and stop the darkness. Like ven had guilt over killing streliza Xehanort has guilt over killing his classmates despite him not being conscious
Random headcanon I got watching this video, and that whole bit about Eraqus' grandfather: What if Eraqus was the grandson of the Master of Masters? Hear me out. We know that while the MoM is currently (as of KH3) in Quadratum, that doesn't mean he was there at the time of Dark Road. After all, he was the one who gave Xehanort the black cloak when he was a teenager. So he's gotta have some way of moving back and forth between Reality and Unreality. Eraqus posited the thought that maybe hating Darkness is in his blood, as an explanation for why the mention of it makes him nervous. And who else do we know of who hates the Darkness, and disappeared? The Master of Masters!
Loved the story explanation Damian! Definitely helps understand Xehanort better.
Xehanort's own biography is a paradox that he himself created
23:00 "Does Xehanort have a family who misses him?" Well, he at least has a mysterious black-haired woman who misses him 🤭.
Thank you so much for making these types of videos! I really appreciate recaps like this so I can keep up on these games' crazy detailed lore even when life won't let me have time to play through it all.
Yay! Thanks so much for putting this together!! Another great vid as always 😍
Eraqus's grandfather is just one of many generations who battled the darkness.
He is just the familiar member that had a relationship with Eraqus, so it's natural that he'd be the only member mentioned.
His grandfather definitely isn't Brain.
Edit: Also the lost master conversation in KH3 is before the cutscene in ReMind
I mean, they're basically identical and they share the same keyblade, so Eraqus might actually be Brain's grandson since the guy ends up in Scala after Union X ending, but who knows, Nomura could make up literally anything at this point
With Missing-Link, it looks like Brain is Eraqus's grandfather.
That Armour Young Xehanort wore! Bring back memories in Kingdom Hearts 2! The Armor Nobody riding the Nobody Dragon!
Yay! I’ve been missing your recaps, thoughts and theories! 🥲 Thank you for the video!!! 🙏🏾
The keyblade a wielder wields is a reflection of the person wielding the keyblade.
Yeah it's why Sora has the kingdom key. Because he's just an ordinary kid .
That is not true who is sora's best friend who dressed in blue and black and has silver hair the same colors as sora's key
I think Bragi is Luxu's current vessel, because Bragi is just Briag and Xigbar rearranged!
I don’t think it’s posible if that was the case wouldn’t xehanort have noticed that bragi was being possessed by someone (Luxu) ? Because luxu then later reappears as braig it’s over 65 years after that time that he meets braig and uses him to further his plans he would have noticed that it was not his friend but rather someone taking control of him and even if Luxu possessed him and had used the body belonging to bragi for 65 years am sure Xehanort would have noticed
This aged VERY well
The chess scene happens before Xehanort leaves Scala. The hair length doesn't match up.
It's short in the chess scene and long in the MoM scene and when he leaves Scala.
Hello we need a summary from this video till the end of the story
Damo, my man, you have no idea how grateful I am to you for making the story of the Chi/Unchained/UX and Dark Road branches of this franchise accessible to everyone else.
Not only is this an amazing resource for me to point new and old fans alike towards, but it's possibly the best way to archive the context of these stories until they get adapted into another format. Should the app ever get taken down, you, Everflow, and KHInsider will be all that keeps this incredibly integral part of the future story to come available to the world. That's no small thing.
Thank you.
You are literally the most awesome person! Hope you have a even more awesome new year!
"but for some, time literally flows differently, relative to other worlds." What you said actually supports a theory I have. I know this is only directly related to the worlds in recovery after the keyblade war, but I have a theory that time in Quadratum works differently from other worlds/realities. Cuz Melody of Memory takes place a whole year after kh3, yet Strelitzia tells Sora he's been asleep for 7 days since he arrived. Kairi and Riku are just about to try entering Quadratum by the end of MoM, so it just makes sense that time moves a lot faster in Quadratum.
Even if I don't need these explanation videos, I'm still hype for any damo content. Keep it up!
This is becoming a crossover between Nier and SMT
Having a TERMINAL(Kingdom Hearts) and other realms as the Dark Kingdom from Nier
Welp here for a quick refresher before tomorrow
Whoo! Finally, thanks for the update broski. Definitely showing this to my buds so they catch up.
when you mentioned family that might miss him....we finally met xehanort's mom :p kinda
would like to hear your theory about her
Never apologise for speculating in your videos! We live for it
Completely underrated you got a new sub keep making more vids like this
Another great video! You are doing such amazing work and helping fans like me that simply cannot play these mobile games
Brilliant video!
Thank you so much for this. I’ve been trying to grind out Dark Road but it’s just so bad. I managed to get past episode 1 but can’t do anymore
Love the video Damo!! Damn amazing work as always! There is one point i would argue though, when you said that when YX and the Master first met and the Master said he was a "Lost Master", I feel like Xehanort was shocked to hear that someone else knew about them. In KH3s beginning when Xehanort and Eraqus were playing chess and Xehanort mentions them it seems like that was the first time he's heard of them especially since he looks younger there and definitely sounds younger than in KH3 Remind when he is talking to the Master. I think the Master threw that line in that he's a Lost Master to intrigue Xehanort even more and to push him to dive deeper to find more answers about them. He definitely had to have been told stories of them when he was way younger.
Really good work Damo!
I don't think Odin is Luxu in disguise but he is definitely suspect. The Gazing Eye is mounted ornately in his classroom which gives us the idea he is the wielder of it, and Luxu was tasked to make sure it was passed down through the ages. It's only at the end of KHIII does he say, "*Finally*, back where it belongs" and how he made a deal with Xehanort that he would get it back, presumably to ensure he would have it regardless of the outcome of the War.
Whether we see Luxu in another form, still in a cloak, or what have you I think the pertinent matter regarding him is when he looses track of the box. Or did he? He seems to have only sent Luxord to find it, who is someone he admits to not knowing. I wonder if he ever lost the box at all.
Also, I don't think Brain is Eraqus' grandfather, but definitely his ancestor. It makes a sort of dramatic irony though. Though both are on the side of light Brain tends to think things in a nuanced way (similar to Xehanort) while Eraqus is straight forward in his beliefs.
Here from the future. Pretty cool how Xehanort calling Eraqus a blue-blood hinted the split (upper and lower houses?) in Missing Link.
Good job, I didn't understand these cutscenes alone, so thank you
Thank you so much! I never got past Ep 2 and the game shut down. Now I'll know what I need for the finale :)
I never noticed it before, but MoM has an odd twitch in his hands when Xehanort says something about people being "sheep pretending to be wolves" Makes me wonder if it was intentional. Maybe it struck a nerve with the MoM, maybe this was his confirmation that Xehanort was the seeker of darkness he has waited for, or probably something else significant. Its a tiny thing to focus on i know, but in a series with so many mysteries any little thing can be a clue to something.
Yes especially when a camera angle directly points at something. If your into cinematography then one concept you understand is career perspectives. Whenever the camera is directly focused on a specific movement or viewpoint such as the MOM hand twitch it’s usually to signify there is something subliminal going on that the movie/game won’t directly tell you. I believe certain angles are to spark our curiosity
I have watched mostly all your videos regarding to KH lore and you don’t miss 👏 you go in depth about it and now I feel like I can finally understand the KH plot. I’ve been lost since 2002 😂. You’re the best keep up these videos 🔥
I appreciate that! Hopefully you're as keen as I am for whatever comes next!
First video of 2021 goodluck my guy
Thanks for this!
Thanks for this video, you’re the one keeping me in the loop these days ...sigh 😔
I'm still unconvinced that Bragi is not linked to xigbar/braig/Luxu bragi with the X can form xigbar just as braig can
I mean
You didnt overthink it, and hey it turned out true
Thank you for your service
Mann your narration and voice reminds me of vaatividya from the soulsborne community
Love listening to you both!
DAMO. NEVER. MISSES 👏👏👏👏
The legend has returned.
I know this is unrelated to kingdom hearts but you have a really good voice for voiceovers.
I hope they do a cutscene movie of this game.
Hey man, I have always been intrigued about kingdom hearts, it's so nice to see someone take their to time to explain it, but I have to admit I'm totally lost, so I hope you can help me start of the story in a chronological order.
Or as a matter of fact tell me where and what I should look/search first. I really wanna know how the story of kingdom hearts pans out.
I kinda dropped everything KH related after KH3, didn't unlock the secret ending, didn't play remind... I'm rly thankful of these videos, even though since english isn't my mother tongue it sometimes gets hard to follow (especially with names). Thanks a lot for summing up everything, I hope you'll someday make an omegavideofdeath when everything is somewhat set in stone for the Xehanort saga to set up for any sequel that might come
I understood virtually none of this. Great work though!
@yymenghis64 it's just starwars
yo damo idk if you've realised but some of the flowers look different in front of the tombstones , it almost seems like some have been there longer then others
Ive always assumed from the context that Xehanort laid the four sets of flowers down, flowers that each look slightly different because that's just how boqeues work. I assume we didn't see him lay down each boqueue because we cinematically didn't really need to, but I will concede that it isn't 100% confirmed that he laid them all down
The full game isn't even out yet, we're still stuck in Wonderland
I need you to do a video on who the hell Yen Sid is. All we know is that he is a former keyblade master and that he trained King Mickey. We have no idea who trained him. Since we have never seen his younger self, my guess is that Yen Sid was one of the upper classmen that went missing. Meaning they all didn't perish. What are your thoughts?
Odin is sus
Odin vented
I always found Xehanort to be an interesting character... now after learning the truth of everything he is by far my favorite character in the series. The most necessary evil in the KH world. I hope he shows up in the future for the final confrontation of Light and Dark.
I hope Nomura adresses the idea the whole player's reincarnation thing and somehow bring xehanort who remembers his player days to the plot, while finally admitting he isn't against light or darkness, but chaos..
There is a probability Xehanort will be at quadratum. I hope he will.
Will there be a future video where all 7 parts+ending are explained in one full video?
Yo is it me or Xehanort in the thumbnail is ripped as f? Either way great video 👍
Will you eventually do another one like these for the finale that came out earlier today? I'm here to get the previous recap
I have some questions.
When can you summarize the final update for Kingdom Hearts X?
What do you think are Demyx and Luxord's real names are?
Did you know Zack Fair was killed by Sephiroth between Birth by Sleep & KH1? (Which is why Cloud seeks to destroy him)
What is your take on the Quadratum Dimension(the universe where TWEWY's Shibuya is)?
What do you think Luxu really looks like?
Do you think Braig was really how Luxu portrayed him to be?
Who do you think is the first keyblade master? (Honestly, I think he planned the war and the dark seeker saga because he wants to be entertained.)
Brain time traveled into scala, he didn’t found it. That was ephemer. That means Brain can absolutely be within the timeline of Eraqus’ grandfather.
Time paradoxes loops or whatever aside cuz it’s still confusing as heck thanks for the video that clears up a bunch of other stuff and makes love the series more.
Still if they keep saying events can’t be rewritten then doesn’t that mean xehanort found a off the island before alone yet it clearly shows his past self doing for him??????
I reckon you may be the only reason most of us have any idea what the hell is going on in this series anymore!
Is he planning on doing the other parts since the ending was almost a year ago?
Will you do a video soley focusing on destiny islands? It seems like that place always comes back for one reason or another and never seems to change. Also one thing that has always confused me is that the series seems to prop up sora and mickys keyblades but at the same time seem to disregard their uniqueness
The keyblade turning up their in 0.2 was one of the biggest asspulls of the entire series, I hate it so much hahaha
The chad is back in action
I love kingdom hearts, but no other game makes me browse through dozens of UA-cam videos watching story parts so I'm ready for whenever the next big game is. I've kept up to date with few of the side games, but in my opinion these mobile games with lots of story is the worst path the franchise have taken. It's so hard to keep up to date with the story
Agreed, 100%. I'm so confused, anyone has different theories, no one knows anything anymore, this is all a big mess
"One bright light can cast many shadows"
In retrospect that's actually fortuitous of Xehanort to say. He later takes on Ventus, knowing or ignorant of his ancient past, and we're told that his heart is too pure and it is dangerous. If by pure we equate light, then his great light would make him the perfect breeding ground or target for darkness to hide.
"Friendly rivalry" he says. After the he set the score to 100 to 2.
*Sees this*
"Oh thank god, I don't have to play that side mode!"
Thank goodness this is here. I was never gonna play another mobile game.
We hear Luxord (spelling?) as Yazora's driver in the secret ending of KH3 so good speculation. He and Demix (also spelling) probably both come from the fictional world. I wonder in what role!
Anyone coming back to this from the finale?
is there still to be an update to this video? or is the dark road stuff still in the works? I see youre video about the secret endings, but i'm still missing half of the game
So Luxu possessed Odin? I think it would make sense that everyone he possesses loses and eye (maybe to "refuel" his Keyblade?). Btw I'm only 8 minutes into the vid, so forgive me if this is answered later on.
Imo something's going on with Odin, and it could well be that Luxu is in control of him and is trying to blend in
@@damo I pesonally have a theory that Mom can replicate his "eye" and put in in people like Darkness puts themselves in people's hearts. The Eye of Providence. He controls Fate by watching though people and objects. I theorize he is also in Luxu, Odin, Yozora and possibly Sora. Sora is Mom's favorite proxy, his best piece.

Nice bro, cheers for another video. Honestly, I'm getting kind of tired of getting jerked around by Nomura as I age and his writing gets worse, so without your videos I don't know whether I would have had the will to keep up with this weird series I love so much. Thanks for all that you do.
curious, why do you think the writing has become worse ?
@@jamison4281 the story has gotten more complicated and less interesting at the same time. There's a lot to go over but it boils down to Nomura having no plan, retconning like crazy, and mistaking a complicated twist as a good one. There's a lot more but ill just go with those three.
@@SuperNintendawg i respectfully disagree that it has gotten worse and that the majority of people who follow this series are more into this aspect of the lore than the disney parts.
the story i don’t feel has ever really been complicated, the frustration more comes from having to wait for the next chapter instead of being able to play into it. it’s more like a monthly shonen manga than playing video game chapters.
there aren’t many retcons but considering it’s approaching a 20 year old series that would be expected. ideas change over 20 years.
if you genuinely think nomura has no plans, melody of memory literally set up three different games and none of them are kh4
Hey man, whatever floats your boat. But just because people like it, that doesn't mean it's good writing. People like Atlas Shrugged.
@@SuperNintendawg at the end of the day it’s a video game series not meant to be taken to seriously.
just enjoy it for what it is instead of having preconceived notions of what you want and having expectations not be met. everyone has their own tastes
If the dandelions are to escape the virtual daybreak town by being projected to the future . Brain could be eriqus’s direct grandfather
I'm pretty sure he is, I mean they look too similar, and they share the same keyblade
I can't believe that player became Xanortet (99% that I misspelled it lol) it like that old saying you either die a hero or see yourself become a villain (sort of)
So what if Xehanort winning in kh3 is what gave him the power to go to the past to free himself from destiny island and in doing so, is what inadvertently setup the timeliness in which the light wins? 🤔 The only plothole that I see is how brown robe xehanort from the future was able to get the power of darkness in the first place to set all this up in motion (as well as how he got to the island and grew up alone but I imagine that's not as important)
Love the Norse references in the game
Imma throw a really weird theory out there for fun.
Odin is Luxu maybe at the time telling them they had gone missing, sending them out to experience this darkness to set things in motion? Just an idea if you have any holes in that feel free to share I’m curious to what people think
God I'd love to see this story in a mainline, nonmobile game
I love this video, but it needs to be updated with the current information given to us.
