20 years from now a teenager is going to inherit this car from grandpa.
@@bondedstars ill tell you i see plenty of gen 2 ES' around campus, but hardly any domestics older than 2010 outside of performance models and trucks
@@bondedstars Other than the power steering and master cylinder problems that still plague it unless they're finally using an electric power steering system.
grandpa had good taste. However with the ICE ban a lot of teenagers will never experience driving in the first place.
Romantic but probably unrealistic view of the future. in 20 years cars with ICEs will be only on display or driven on special occasions by rich people. Normal “Gas” (as you americans say) won’t be affordable if the future goes on as it looks like today.
Similar to how I just gave my dad's 2002 Grand Marquis with less than 50k miles to my son. He has no idea what a sweet ride it was in it's day.
I have a 1998 Camry with 300,000 miles and it still runs smooth. If it ever dies I plan to stay with Toyota or treat myself to a Lexus. These cars are simply second to none.
With you, I had a 2010 Camry with 200k and treated myself to an IS350 :) best upgrade
i raised you with a 600,000 miles 2000 honda accord.
2nd to none is a bit hyperbolic, considering that the only real selling point is the presumed reliability
Lifes to short to spend it driving a camry....
@@gureno19 I love the Camry but I have to agree 😂
This is one of the best, most honest, relevant, and useful car reviews I have ever seen that cuts through all the bs. One of the best 15 minutes I have ever spent in my life. Such a pleasure to watch.
Best 15 mins in your life? Wait until you are little bit older and discover a thing called “women”!
@@KentBuchla15 mins? Settle down. I reserve my wife to enjoy that time with her boyfriend.
@@KentBuchlaJake and I are on an even playing field. My wife, Sam, enjoys her Lexus while she has the opportunity, which I paid off this past June. Now, Jake, doesnt hold that against me when she doesn't pay for Olive Garden, and, he ends up paying for that. We respect eachother and this car really helps close that gap.
My grandfather passed away 2 months ago he took his 1993 Lexus ES to the grave he owned it for 28 years. He was 88. My aunt donated the Lexus to the Mexican family that used to clean my grandfathers APT for the last 8 years. The Lexus is still going!
A CD player still there - Gawd bless Lexus.
I've actually seen reviewers poke fun at them for retaining it, not considering it's the best way to get ttur hi-fi quality audio.
@@user-rd4hp4qi8q I suppose you could use high quality audio from a device connected to a headphone jack, but even some new cars are getting rid of those. I just see the CD player as another option of how I can play music.
@@ARentz07 I don't have the old 3.5 on my phone or in my car sadly. Its sometimes just nice to hear all those special sounds the artist intended you to hear in a song, and even Tidal and stuff don't achieve what a cd can.
Lexus knows its geriatric customers just want to play their CDs
at this point it costs more for them to remove lol
My number one goal when buying a car is reliability. Lexus has never disappointed me. I'll take the high fuel consumption - even while living in Denmark - as part of the package. Maintenance is cheap, yearly checks are cheap, insurance is relatively cheap. Peugeot did nothing but break down for me and even the so famed Audi and Mercedes kept breaking down or show error lights and always had something broken during the maintenance. List of things that broke on my Lexusses:
End of list.
P.S.
Just have your shit break down in the middle of nowhere in a country you can't speak the language of. Then you will understand how important reliability is.
You must ignore car maintenance to have cars break down on you so consistently.
@@R4M_Tommy Hey look guys! This guy believes that proper maintenance of shitboxes are gonna magically turn them less shit.
I can’t imagine living in Europe, home to so many interesting cars, and choosing to buy a Lexus.
@@khonjel_singh your analogy sucks 😂
@@R4M_Tommy On a Peugeot? Forget it, sir. It will break down any time for any reason. Not cool in the middle of Lithuania. They are absolute garbage and last very short. I always maintained my A4 and E class very well (all used vehicles mind you, just like the Lexusses) but occasionally it showed an error lamp and had to bring it to the garage. Then they found out the sensor that senses the thing that's broken itself is broken. At maintenance I had to change the 'carrying arms' (word for word translation, dont know in English) twice on the Audi. That is a design flaw plain and simple.
I drive very long distances and people rely on me for medical relief. I cannot allow my shit breaking down and if you find yourself in Copenhagen, reply again as I will honest to God reach out to you so you can find out for yourself.
I am in my 20's and drive an older ES 350 that I mainly bought for comfort and reliability. In the first few months after I bought it, I was a little self-conscious because it wasn't as "fun" as my friends' German cars. But honestly, I no longer feel that way. Like you said, the NA V6 is such a delight. The technology is very minimal and just what I need, and I'm very happy to see that it hasn't changed years later in the 2022 ES. This car isn't about standing out; it's the exact opposite actually. It's about the DRIVER, about being comfortable and having a best friend that will never fail you. I plan on keeping my ES as a daily driver until the wheels fall out, because unfortunately regulations are ruining the industry, and soon everything budget friendly will have cheap turbo-charged engines.
Very well said mate! Congratulations mate, what colour did you get?
Same! I'm 21 and just got my first car. I bought a 2008 Es350, man I am in love with the car. Definitely driving it until she dies
Also in my 20s with a 2008 ES350 that I love. Same experience as yours. It's a wise choice. Enjoy it dude!
I downgraded from my Tesla Model 3 to a 2008 Lexus RX350 because I've decided to get my doctorates and save money. Youre absolutely right. The Lexus isn't anything flashy, but its definitely a beauty. I love my car and will probably drive it til it dies. I will highly consider a Lexus instead of a Tesla as my next vehicle. I would not have said those words a couple years back.
@@geo5106 Congratulations mate! Good luck with the doctorate!
The Lexus ES350: Humble and reliable. Dignified luxury in a reasonable sense.
Indeed. A 'grownup' car.
Many will complain it's a boring car. Boring because it starts every single day for 10 years. Boring because you never have to take it into the shop. Some people like drama I don't.
@@rxonmymind8362 Yes that is why Lexus shop is not crowded like Toyota or other dealers. Love my Lexus.

I drive a 2017 GS350 AWD and love. I had a 2020 NX 300 but got rammed and it was totaled, nobody injured. I took the insurance check to the Lexus dealership and bought the GS350. No more SUVs for me! 😊. Lexus is just good stuff.
Ive owned over 10 cars and ES was the only one that got me to 100k trouble free miles. Zero nada. Next car is going to be another Lexus(prolly LC500).
I have a 2015 Subaru Forester. I got to 120,000 miles before I had any issue. I have 359,000 miles on it now. HOWEVER, I do want to get a Lexus for my next car, because I have had to replace more things than I believe I'd ever need to replace in a Lexus. I had 3 Toyotas before the Subaru and had very few problems. Granted, I never got any of them much past 200K.
The LC500 is spectacular, in my opinion. Pure automotive jewellery. I wish you many happy miles!

I just got my 2021 ES hybrid this month… i do like the screen update if this 2022. surprised a review is out so fast. i’m 37 and used to be a hardcore bmw racer hardcore modder, track day bro but i love the solidity refinement and quiet of the ES. i like that it’s the polar opposite of what kids like. call me a grumpy old man. but i’m proud of it
How does it behave on highway entrance ramps? Passing cars on 🛣 highways?
@Digital Tog Good. I'm 51 and looking at the ES. Thought I might be too young for it.
I'm 49 and I just bought a red 2013 GS 350 AWD with only 34,603 miles on it. Can't wait to get it. It's going to put the power down much better than a FWD ES 350 but still be super comfortable on long road trips. I can drive 6-7 hours in that car and not be exhausted from all the NVH and harsh ride of a sports car. Yet its 0-60 is only 5.6 seconds. Only 0.1 seconds slower than the 1992 Acura NSX that I once owned.
@@CarShopping101 You once owned..? Was it a NSX not worth keeping.?
U don't have to be old to appreciate Lexus. I'm 31 this month, also a track addict Porsche/bmw guy. After 10 years of dealing with hard suspension and loud intake sound, my back and head only accept lexus as my DD. Now I have a Ls and ES for my wife.
this car's best kept secret is that there's a werther's dispenser in the center console.
Ain't nothing wrong with some Werther's Originals.

In Dubai, the ES represents 95% of the Uber cars (Uber is under the public taxi company, but drivers are free to buy the car of their choice). It is not uncommon to see an ES hybrid clocking 600,000 kms / 372,000 miles, and when you ask the drivers if there are issues, they all say "no issue sir".
I really went to a uber that has a New Es350 bro i swear its has a 700 thousand miles !
I deeply appreciate your ability to objectively review how well a car fulfills its intended mission…
In Japan I saw a few 100 year olds who died in this behind the wheel, still driving around with rigor mortis set in and the Auto pilot set on 20 mph. You get a whiff of decomposition when they roll past You, staring into nothingness.
There’s an award winning anime plot right there.

That's the thing with Lexus. I'm okay with them being a generation or two behind the competition in terms of tech or powertrain because everything on the car is tried and true plus they're just plain comfortable and stress free to own. Lexus dealerships provide excellent service too.
This might sound strange for an expensive luxury car, but there’s something really humble about the Lexus ES
It’s a luxury car, sure, but it’s like the normal person’s luxury car. Someone appreciates quality and comfort, but wanted a slight step above an Avalon
ES is not an expensive luxury car. It is rather one of the more affordable luxury-ish car. Just like what you said, it's an Avalon in a suit lol

You just got a new subscriber. I like your review; it's practical and honest, not a racing-based review which doesn't help me as someone looking for a commuting car.
I never liked sedans until I drove an Avalon for a week. I plan on buying an es, avalon, or camry next year for a daily. Fantastic platform 👍
Definitely go for the ES. People say it's basically the same as the Avalon, but I've always found the ES (especially this new gen) to be waaaaay nicer. And you can get CPO models for a steal.
ES is super smooth, but damned if every new Avalon I see in traffic isn't making me look twice right now. The recent redesign was incredible for that car.
Avalon is a better car overall. It is the same as the ES, without the Lexus badge. Your insurance rates will be lower, you'll pay Toyota maintenance costs versus Lexus, and you can work out a rebate much easier on the Avalon as opposed to the ES. An Avalon, with rebates, can be had at the top-of-the-range Limited trim, at a lower price than a base ES.
Want an Avalon? Better hurry and get one quick. Toyota has just announced that they're discontinuing the Avalon after 2022.😥
@@texan903 Stating my bias up front as an ES buyer, Avalon was a fine car and a better value overall in many ways, but it was not a better car. The ES is clearly superior in numerous specific metrics: sound insulation, standard and optional sound systems, quality of interior mateirals being just a few. The Avalon objectively beat the ES in three areas: folding rear seats (not an ES omission, but reflects a choice by engineers to add an extra structural stiffening brace to the ES that blocks the pass-through), the availability of heated rear seats (a real and puzzling ES omission), and that stupid touchpad --- but in '22, ES fixed it with a touchscreen. Every other area, ES generally wins, as it should with its higher price.
I don’t see this as a car for boring people, I believe that this is a perfect car for someone who wants luxury that can be affordable AND keep a low profile as this is comfortable and easy to deal with type of car. You don’t need an S-Class to be happy this is more than enough
I owned a 2013 ES350 for 2 years (2nd owner from 2019 to 2021). Bought it with only 30k miles andPut 10k miles on it.. amazing build quality. Just sold it 3 months ago for my 2002 ES300 with 161k miles. One owner who maintained it at the same Lexus dealership thru 110k miles. This one is amazing, interior leather like new, no accidents, timing belt, water pump and valve cover gasket replaced at 87k miles. So quiet and solid, the craftsmanship is unparalleled for a 19 year old car. Definitely keeping this car for next 10 plus years. Brought it 2021 by installing a double din Alpine head unit, w Apple Car Play, microphone and hard wired back up camera w LED lights. Shifts smooth, feels like it 5 years old not 19 ! Best value for a Lexus you can find !
My is 300 is in for service and they gave me a brand new ES 350 loaner car this thing is amazing
Great video as usual. No doubt one of the best cars on sale today.
Thanks for the review, Mark. When my wife's 2014 ES200H needed tires, I put on a set on Continentals. Now there is some steering feel and I actually had fun taking it through the mountain twists of the Pennsylvania section of I-70. I've grown to like that car.
Lexus uses a couple of brands as OEM on new ES's (Michelin, Bridgestone). Like most OEM tires nowadays, they're cheapo gas mileage specials and the traction is trash. I got immediate traction improvement, although certainly not a cure, by swapping them off immediately.
Mom’s ES350 only had the battery replaced once over the 12 years we’ve owned it. I love the Lexus Red, the smooth and peppy V6, the smooth and quiet ride, and very nice speakers. I love this generation of Lexus, it’s sharp but composed, and I want to own one.
I love my 2010, it’s comfortable, tons of features and never had a single issue
Great review, totally agree! I always dismissed this car as an old man's retirement car...but I finally drove one recently, and I totally get the appeal. The reason it still has a boring FWD setup is that customers buying this car prioritize comfort & reliability...it effortlessly centers itself on the highway - never experienced that before in a car - no one is tossing the ES into corners, at least not more than once. It does exactly what it was designed to do, and if you take it for what it is, it is immensely enjoyable.
If they added AWD to the V6, this would be one of the best daily drivers out there
Agree I’d buy one right now if they did
Put a set of Michelin CrossClimate 2s on this and you'll be just fine 99% of the time.
Well then a used lexus GS is for you, they should have made an AWD V6 for the ES considering it replaced the GS
@@thepcuser5469 Yes. Problem is, for whatever reason they didn't design in enough room in the new platform for both the V6 and AWD.
Amazing review , i love the quality of the video never seen such a high end video shoot.
I have a 2007 ES350. Probably one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. Old, high miles, rusty, but rides smooth, enough power to move itself, and quiet. I would buy a new one. Can’t get cars like this anymore.
I have a 2019 ES350 and I absolutely love it. I was a BMW Fanboy for years owning several of their "high tech" turbo'd straight 6's. After getting so frustrated with the problems and bills from all the breakdowns I finally switched. I honestly don't all the hate lexus gets for V6 in these I went from a 335i to this and it's not that different and I drive it like a racecar all the time. Even though It's a bit slower I find its power delivery more engaging. I can't wait for the IS 500.
Same here , i’m a BMW fan boy who is switching to Lexus for exactly the same reason
I just switched from BMW Active hybrid 3 to Lexus es 350 because the BMW was costing too much to maintain. It was a piece of junk after 75 k miles. This car is so smooth, quiet and comfortable. I got the ultra luxury and the technology is leaps and bounds ahead of BMW.
Big brain people
Just got mine yesterday 2019 too. Love the smoothness
I thought the Perry Como style bringing music fit the demographic for this car. Good choice.
please continue to make videos like this my new favorite channel for sure !
Thank you for this review, you really hit on why the ES350 makes sense and your right about a car that will last a long time and is reliable...very well done.
I've just discovered your UA-cam channel and, coincidently, I'm a long-time Lexus owner with my current vehicle being a 2020 ES300h Ultra Luxury model. You are absolutely correct about this model being designed for boring, retired guys just like me. I didn't buy it for any other reason than for all of the attributes you highlighted in this excellent review. What a wonderful car this is that obtains incredible mpg's!
I just ordered a 2022 ES300h Ultimate Luxury.
I can imagine driving this to Florida listening to Lawrence Welk all the way in serene comfort.
I bought a 2019 Lexus ES 350 after my 2008 was wrecked in an accident. Couldn't be more happier.
I was a backseat passenger in my coworkers 2020 ES350 and I can say it's really smooth and refined. Backseat babies in car seats will be easily put to sleep for sure.
I got the first run of 2019 ES350 with factory broken sound system. I got it fixed and replaced amplifier for free and it sound awesome right now. Dealer was great. Very nice and quiet car.
There was nothing broken with the audio system honestly. That's how the engineers designed it to sound.
@@barbecuetechtips6024 , That's what some dealers said at the time, not my dealer. He did acknowledge the problem first time I showed him.
this guy knows videography. With all angles and shallow depth of field. Great video
You hit the nail on the head, not the latest and greatest but wow covers all the bases so well. I own a 2018 GS350 AWD F sport, another fantastic effort from Lexus, so sorry that it's production run is over. I hope to grow old driving this car for years.
I'd much rather be bored in this than broke down and excited in something else.
Yes. But, surely there's some examples that are both..?
@@ThomasNing New cars are extremely reliable save for maybe a handful of examples. You rarely ever see cars on side of road anymore like you did a few decades ago. Reliability isn't even in the top 5 buyer's concerns anymore according to research I've seen
almost all cars are reliable for the first 5-6 years anyway.
@@kristians2704 Yes, but the entire subject is how it'll fare in 20 years.
@@ThomasNing ok, but how many people that buy/lease NEW cars (not used ones) keep them for more than 3-6 years?
Dad bought me a Cpo one back in 2011 and I drive it to this day with no issues. Only thing that went wrong was fuel cap and that was a cheap replacement. Going to keep it as a DD and drive until it goes under. Saved me so much money in my 20s as well since I never had a car payment yet had a really comfortable daily driver. Drove it throughout college and never felt less since my interior was much nicer than 3 series and c classes.
Wow! What a thorough analysis! Thank you so much. I just subscribed to your channel.
Hey Oluwaseyi, if you like Lexus reviews, I've made plenty of them. If you have time let me know what you think :)
I have an ES330, ES350, GS430, LS460. You cannot beat this as a daily driver. You just can’t. My ES330 just crossed over 260,000 miles with out a single issues. It’s my daily and I’ll keep it for ever. My land cruiser also has just shy of 300,000 miles.
Now I will say, even at 260k Miles, the ES330 is smoother and heavier than the ES350. It’s basically on the SAME level as the LS460 with air suspension! It’s 99% the smoothness.
Have the 2017 model and still looks like new and haven't yet have problem. It's a smooth and very comfortable car and you only buy this car for comfort and quality. It gets in and out of traffic nicely with sufficient power and add a little more kick on sport mode.
My mom has owned 3 generations of the ES, currently driving the current gen since 2019. The current gen's suspension is 100% better, it is noticeably stiffer but without loss of comfort, you can actually take a corner at speed without coming to a full stop in fear of rolling over. But the best thing I love Lexus for doing to this generation is 6:58 in the front where the splash shield ends there is a cutout exposing the subframe. 7:23 in the rear right between the control arm and exhaust they've welded on a dedicated stand off right on the subframe. Both were not there for the previous gen, this makes jacking up the car so much easier. For someone who works on their cars, change tires twice a year, this is pretty significant for me. I work on a lot of new cars, they get more covered up each generation, I'm glad Lexus is taking the little steps to help out the little guy.
Came first for the LFA video, came again and again for wonderfully shot and edited videos.
purchased the ES330 in 2005, plan to drive that car for 30 years…currently has 88,000 miles, dealer maintained, with regular maintenance intervals, no serious issues to date.
Right on 👍
Such a good all round car. Aldo, Lexus make the softest seats in the auto industry nowadays, reminds me of those you’d find in American luxo barges from the 70s, 80s & 90s.
What more could you ask for to have a 306 hp aspirated ,, smooth riding car that can still get 30 mpg on the hwy.?
Not quite true anymore. The new seats are still excellent, but to keep up with the German Joneses, they've made them noticeably stiffer.
