This idea might sound wasteful to some, but my chickens eat all of my bad bread. They love it when I mess up!! Lol😂
It doesn't sound wasteful to me since it's being eaten 😉
I have done this too. My chickens are thrilled when I have a bad loaf, lol
@@TheRoseHomestead Plus, since you cook from scratch, I have no doubt they love it 😋❤️❤️❤️❤️
You could also use it to make dressing/stuffing or bread pudding.
I love to make bread pudding with my old bread. Yummy ❤
I make bread pudding also. I cut into cubes, and soak in an egg and milk solution overnight in the fridge bake the next day.
Ge
YUM!
I've used bad bread for a french toast casserole and it worked out great!
Now I like the sound of these crunchy treats…bet they taste great and fun to munch on with sardines or soups.
From Sedona Arizona thank you to cheer your recipient 🇺🇸🇵🇾😃
I did this for bread crumbs with a couple of my failed breads. I will try croutons next time!!
Thank you Mary!
Lol I did it today with dinner rolls. I had frozen the dough balls so I could make just a few rolls at a time and took 24 of them out so hubby could take them to work for their holiday party tonight, put them in a pan to thaw and rise in the oven and did the unthinkable. I turned the oven on and oops. They are now completely cooked dense little pucks lol. I made a fresh batch for him to take.
I’m very new at making sourdough bread and, needless to say, I haven’t had the greatest success. Thanks for this. I love croutons, so will definitely do this.
@gfayecox if you haven't already tried it, her no- knead overnight sourdough loaf recipe is amazing. Super easy, very little work, and mine have turned out better than any other loaf I've made since starting sourdough during covid. Highly recommend!
@@Mama2Mischief thanks. Will try.
I love these ideas! Thank you!
I love croutons, great ideal.
Thanks for ideasa I have some bread in freezer I was wondering what to do with
Thank you ! Great advice
This is sooooooo timely, you have no clue! Lol. This is like a Duh moment. I threw out a stale loaf yesterday! Never again. Maybe even Bread Pudding?! Thank you so much, Mary.
Thank you! Much needed information for my household.❤
Those croutons look delicious! I’m going to try that! Thanks
If you have a stainless steel toaster oven with convection, that is another healthier solution than just placing in some air fryers. Basically in away that is what an air fryer is. But, it seems like air fryers would be much easier to clean at times. Thank you for the video! Have a beautiful weekend ;)
do you have a easy yeast roll recipe? nothing is easy for me but I would try one!!
I do have a recipe I use. I will try to film it this coming weekend, as I am going to be making some. It won't be uploaded for a couple of weeks but I will see that it is on here as soon as I can.
I am interested in what you've done to winterize your house. It looks like you put something over your kitchen window? What else have you done that helps? The climate where I live in much different so we are set up to cool the house, not keep it warm.
We put plastic over all of our windows. We zone heat as well. We close off our upstairs during the day and a couple of extra rooms so we only heat the most used areas. About 30 minutes before bed, we open the upstairs. We also go around the baseboards each fall to caulk if necessary. We live in a very old house and it can be difficult to heat, but, with these changes every year we stay toasty with our wood stove.
@@TheRoseHomestead I love the idea of plastic over your windows! I bet that really helps. Older homes and mobile homes tend to be drafty. I replaced the windows in my mobile home with double-pane windows plus a double-pane sliding glass door, and it still felt a little drafty. Of course, mobile homes have thin walls, as well.
I am new to making sourdough bread and was wondering how long I can leave out a loaf of sourdough bread without refrigeration since there is no preservatives like store bought bread.
I leave mine out for 3-5 days with no problems.
Quick question please: How shelf stable are crumbs n croutons once they’re totally dry? Store in bags or airtight container? Thank you.
To be honest, I'm not sure exactly how long they last on the shelf. I keep mine in the freezer. The croutons will last about 4 to 5 days. I'm sure the crumbs would last quite a while though.
@@TheRoseHomestead Thank you. I’ll bet you’re correct. Ok in the freezer they go!
💞
All my loaves of sourdough have been dense. It never rises. What am I doing wrong?
How old is your starter?
I am unable to save this or share
I'm sorry. I haven't been able to find out why. I am checking into it.
again, you added the wrong ingredients. you do not know what you are doing.
