The rest of their songs are quite different actually, this is one of their few where she growls all along. I would recommend "Rule Of Nines", "Blessed Be", "Circle With Me", "Constance", "The Mara Effect live at Silverside Sound"
Their debut album which came out last year was actually really diverse. I would love to see a reaction to Constance if you decide to get back to them. I hope you are feeling better by now! Have a great day~
I think the entire video was filmed on an iPhone, iirc. If you want to see a great video from them, “Blessed Be” would be my recommendation (you’ll get to hear Courtney sing). Also, “Constance” is a must at some point. Grab the tissues!
Great reaction! I’ve always thought that Courtney LaPlante’s harsh vocals have unusually good/clear enunciation, too. As other commenters have mentioned, Spiritbox have a wide range of styles of music within the metal genre - you never know what you’ll get next - but Courtney’s vocals are always stunning. She has a beautiful, warm and ethereal clean singing voice, not at all screechy, and their tracks may have a combination of her styles most often, but with some being all harsh like Holy Roller here, and some all clean. For the ones with both styles, she can switch instantly, even mid-sentence and back again, and live one-take vocal videos and live gigs show how very good indeed she is. For her instant switching, the live one-take of Circle With Me is an excellent demonstration as she does it towards the end, in an additional touch which she introduced to the song for live performances - in the studio release and official video she used a cleaner belting style for that portion. Regarding the video, it was self-made due to lockdown! Courtney’s husband Michael Stringer, who is Spiritbox’s guitarist (actually a multi-instumentalist too - he writes the instrumentals and she writes the lyrics and vocal melodies though of course they collaborate on the whole song too) shot the outdoor parts on his phone, whilst I’ve seen that the indoor shots (Courtney in the scary makeup) were shot on a fullframe mirrorless camera. The makeup was all done by Ashley Crook, the wife of Spiritbox’s then-bassist, Bill Crook, and those are her gloved hands appearing from behind Courtney. Props were provided from the recent wedding of friends, and Courtney’s initial choice for the dress was lost in the post, causing panic!
RULE 🔥 OF 🔥 NINES 🔥 live one take performance next!

During the lock down, too. It's why they used an iPhone and one of her friends did the makeup.
Surprised you’re just now hearing this. Check out their new song Rotoscope, you’ll love it.
Not the greatest song to introduce you to Spiritbox. Her clean vocals are beautiful.
Should've been Rule of Nines
