When I was a kid (11 or so) I remember picking up Gene Simmons Kiss solo out of that big back room. I think the front at that time was still just for tickets and paraphernalia. By the time highschool rolled around the front part of the store was all that was left.
I seem to remember this commercial jingle airing as early as the mid 70's. TV & radio both. Oh - speaking of commercials in the Dayton market - remember Emmert Royer of BHA? Steve Kirk (WING) Tatone Buick commercials? Fun times.
I had the fur coats are hairy line in my head and I came looking for this. I was never there but hearing the entire radio jingle took me back to my childhood.
Back in the 80's I was interviewed for a job there several times, and each time the owner wouldn't hire me!!! WTF???!!! I looked as though I should have been working in a music store - I had really long hair that I teased out, coloured, and permed, etc, etc, etc, Most importantly of all - I knew my music. I had hundreds of vinyl records at that time, and although Rock, Classic Rock, and Heavy Metal was my thing - I also was knowledgeable about other genres. Yet the rotten ol b*st*rd still wouldn't give me a job!!! Maybe I had bad breath, or something??? Someone told me he only liked to hire young attractive women, but that was bullsh*t, as I saw several different guys workin there over the years...oh well - whatever!
This is my family's store, and my dad (r.i.p.) would be flattered that so many of you remember this. Thank you all.
What an icon. I had to sing along with that song every single time it came on the radio. WTUE! Album Rock. What a great time to be alive.
Part of the soundtrack to my college years and beyond!

I remember these commercials being shown during "Saturday Night Live". In fact, I remember them better than I remember the show. :)
One of my favorite stores during my teen years.
