@@aydenbeta1380 Not sure what you're running. But I'm on a 5800X and I've been poking around RPCS3 the past few days. Using the reommended settings for the following titles.
Gran Turismo 5 - 50-60fps at 1440p. Car dealers and some other things will tank frames to low 30s in some places still.
Gran Turismo 6 - 45-50fps at 1440p. Runs a lot worse for me than GT5.
      skate. and Skate 3 - 80 - 120fps at 4K.
Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction - 4k, 50-60fps, some places will happily exceed 60fps.
Ratchet and Clank A Crack in Time - much more unstable than Tools, some graphic effects can tank frames hard. Some areas will run close to 60+ at all times, but most locations will have drops to at least 30-40.
MGS4 - 40-60fps usually. I have it uncapped so it can exceed but you're going to have some sections drop.
Overall, rock solid for most of my time playing. Gran Turismo and Ratchet franchise have a lot of issues still, MGS4 obviously still has a ton of issues, it needs hacks/cheats to fix issues to get it running. You'll definitely need at least a 6 core CPU though as quad cores can get seriously bogged down. My old 3600X could still get a really solid 60fps on Skate 3. Enough to play through a good chunk of the goals.
GPU isn't too important, especially if you don't use resolution scale. My 3080 is usually hovering around 50% at most in most of the games I've tried. Usually even lower.

Last year, I built a new PC and it's a very high end build (though I didn't upgrade the GPU until April this year). This PC was designed with PS3 emulation in mind. Just about every game I've tested runs phenomenally. Sadly, I can't play some of the WWE games because they get stuck in the loading screen after a match.

But windows scheduling was having issues with giving AVX tasks to little cores in testing and they couldn't resolve it for whatever reason. Also, AVX was a large thermal contributor to an already thermally limited design. I think that made their decision easier. I feel like we will see AVX 512 again in an intel CPU, but it may not be until they work with windows to ensure it's a smooth experience. In contrast, AMD supported AVX 512 for the first time in the 7xxx series CPUS, but it's a weird half AVX 512 where they combine two AVX 256 units in some black magic voodoo technique. But my understanding is that the performance isn't quite as robust as what we saw in the Intel 11 series Rocket Lake parts.

Been using RPCS3 to run Midnight Club: Los Angeles and the various Ratchet and Clank games recently, and it's so great to see these games without the low res limitations. I think Tools of Destruction's visuals still hold up at 4K despite originally rendering at an upscaled 640p. My 5800X seems to struggle with Motorstorm Pacific Rift, but it seems to get a little better with every update. OK here's a few millions, you take that out of the market, you work for us, you port this officially on the new hardwares
Not only would they remove talented people from emulation scene (let's face it, Nintendo clearly want them off for instance) and they'd get a functional emulator with bells and whistles ready in no time that they can cash upon.

Licensing. These emulators are usually released under a copyleft license like GPL, and are using tons of code from similarly licensed projects, means instead of taking them out of the market, they would even be required to release all future improvements they do under the same license. This could theoretically be circumvented by relicensing it (which would require consent of all contributors) and replacing all code derived from other projects, but it's probably far more easy to just start from scratch and have full control.

The Xbox 360 version on Xenia Canary is much better. If you're in an area with water in it the game speed drops to 50% and in areas like Groznij Grad, the bike chase and later areas (The Boss fight included) the game runs very slowly too. And you need to tweak the controls a lot to circumvent the pressure sensitivity, I got a custom layout and I can play pretty well with it, but it's hard to retrain the muscle memory. I had 0 shader compilation stutters (I have an i5-8600k).
On Xenia it runs flawlessly and the controls are better, since you don't have the pressure sensitivity things and they're more similar to the original. The only issues I couldn't fix were the cockpits of the Hind (they weren't see through), a couple of glitches during radio conversations and a cutscenes where Sokolov explains the Shagohod in Groznij and a flickering triangle in the skybox when you fight the Shagohod.
And strangely, both RPCS3 and Xenia have a bugged cutscene: after you kill The Boss there's a cutscene that show the aircraft and only its inside is rendered.
On PCSX2 the game runs very badly from The Fear onwards (and has the same controls issue of RPCS3, if not worse) and even after hours of tweaking it still looks a bit blurry.
Let's hope that the Master Collection comes to PC too, I don't care about the remake. The only gripes I have is that the HD Edition doesn't have the nightmare sequence or the extra stuff (Snake vs. Monkey and secret theater).

Just so people know that might be considering emulation for PS3: Get at the very least a CPU that can run 8 threads. Ideally 8+ physical CPU cores. I had a 9600K (6 core/6 thread) which I tried to run Dragon's Crown (not exactly a system crusher) and it was a stuttery mess, it would run for a minute and then pause and jitter for a bit and then back and forth like that. I installed a 9700K (8 core/8 thread) and it became completely playable with no stutter that I could find. I haven't tried harder titles, but just wanted to showcase this as a reason to get a minimum of 8 threads.
I think that the fact that the Steam Deck with it's 4 core / 8 thread setup can play PS3 actually rather well also highlights this based on reviews I've watched. I'd still personally want at least 8 cores with additional threads being a bonus to run it myself.
Of course, this makes a lot of sense in my mind since the PS3 cpu was a 7 core CPU (it blew my mind when I learned about that leading up to PS3 release. PC's were barely getting dual core, let alone quad core at the time.)

    Ryzen 5 5600g
    16GB RAM
    RTX 3060
And I managed to get higher frame rates than the PS3 original and run the game at 4K.
Due to the nature of the PS3, RPCS3 is mostly CPU bound, if you want to know if your CPU is good for RPCS3 or want to upgrade to one that is, there is a tier list available, just Google for it, my CPU is considered B-tier and yet it still ran Armored Core 4, Demon's Souls and MGS4 with next to no issues (i had minor graphical glitches in MGS4).
Also, with this CPU you don't need a graphics card at all, there's videos of people playing MGS4 at 1080p and 30 FPS without a graphics card (quite impressive considering the original game ran at 1024x768p and would often drop frames to the low 20s)
Since RPCS3 is mostly CPU bound tho, that frees up your graphics card to upscale the image, I've managed to run all previously mentioned game at 4K/60, the only exception being MGS4 which would dip whenever things got too frantic (but the only dips are when the frame rate would tank on original hardware)

You forgot to mention about the fact that Gran Turismo 5 and 6 suffered from random freezes/crashes. Thanks to the stability updates made to the rpcs3 for these games, the random freezes/crashes are finally gone. Now it's the perfect occasion to play endurance races.

That's why I've left PlayStation on this current gen, I've got a SX. The backwards compatibility on Xbox is far from perfect, but there are so many good titles on it, and plus - I can use my physical games on it. I have almost 200 physical games for PS3 here that I can only use on my PS3, and I expected a full BC from PS5/Sony. What I got: "even you if you have the physical game, you gotta pay the Plus to be able to STREAM a PS3 game, sir". Well, deal breaker for me.

@John Smith that's what I have, you get all the emulators and obviously all native releases(which there are ALOT of)
I also really enjoy matching each system with its respective controller, so I'm able to play wii games with a wiimote, ps1/ps2/ps3 with a ds5, snes with a snes controller and so on. It makes it little bit more fun.

I neve had a PS3 was think about to get one, and decide to give a try to this emulator, sadly my Logitech Wheel is not supported, in the PCSX2 works fine with GT4, they emulate her as old DFGT, but the PS3 emulator only accept wheels that are original supported by the console and through a shady method of flashing a firmware, I hope one Day they find a way to emulate newer steering wheels like the PCSX2.

PS3 was such a great generation.
I’m starting to feel sad at the increase difficulty to join/expand the experience with this console.
You better be ready to pay top dollar for an official controller or pay a premium to get a disk of an obscure game.

I bought ps3 with 60 original good games in box 200€
    Ps 4 with 4 games : 210€
    And ps5 with 2 games : 360 €
Three consoles with 65 games and i paid 770 euros .
Almost the half price for one rtx4080 , without extra money for cpu , rams and bla bla .
Sorry but your way is wrong and very expensive.

I always take that playability rate with a big container of salt. Don't get me wrong the work, talent and effort in any of these emulators is extremely impressive!! But the vast majority of those "playable games", would even run on a potato. Often they are simple games that are also ports. Also, there are quite some games that one doesn't need a emulator for and are available on PC natively. All emulators include these in the playability rate, but it says extremely little about what is actually playable from the most interesting stuff.

i have a 5600x and beat mgs4 just a few days ago. yes there are some crashes and frame drops though the worst frame drops are during cutscenes and overall the framerates are considerably higher than the ps3.. and ps3 was either u had 60 or 30 due to vsync, but rpcs3 you can reliably run at 45 fps (if someone asked me what frames i was getting mgs4 i would say 45 on avg which is a bigger difference than you might guess from 30) not to mention 1440p vs 720 is huge. there are alot of details in the game u coudl not discern at lower frame rates.
mgs4 is imo officially better emulated than on hardware now and i will be doing a big boss no kill playthrough soon (didn't the first time as i didn't know how playable the emulation was yet)

It shouldn't be this way......
