Thank you Val for working on Top Gun 2. You were fantastic.
Just watched it and was surprised By his scene and presence in the movie
Beautiful comment, Ofentse. 💛🙏🏼
Yeah I was very happy he was in the movie because he deserves to be. Val Kilmer is such a great actor
I almost cried. 😌👍
Val is a living Legend! Always been a big fan of his work!
Years ago, I met Val at a convention in Australia and he was also a favorite of my Mothers, she adored him in Tombstone and often quoted "I'm your Huckleberry" to me. As he signed my photos and Tombstone Bluray cover, I said to him, "My mum would have loved to met you", he said, "Well where is she?", I replied "Unfortunately she wouldn't be able to handle large crowds like this" and jokingly continued to say "I could get her on the phone to say hello though". Val said "Sure" a few minutes later Val was chatting to my Mother and told her "Wish you could have come today, we miss you here" My Mother was over the moon to chat with him saying her favorite quote back to him and they shared a laugh. I brought home a personalized signed photo to my mother of Val as Doc Holiday, which hung on her wall until her passing. I now have that photo and the most wonderful memory of Val making my mothers day. Thank you, Val.
Mike Free Aw, this story made me bawl!! RIP mama, and glad Val was so nice to her
Thats a good one
Wonderful story!!!
That is sooooooo cool!!!!! 💪🙏🤘
Awesome story, Mike! Glad it happened for both of you, like that. Pretty cool!
Man he was so healthy back then. God bless Val. He's a fighter man.
Throat cancer or not, I'm just glad he's still able to experience life alive. He's earned that right. What a great man
@@Lovicide Watch his new Val Documentary. It's very good and honest.
@@Lovicide can you experience life whilst being dead?
Dang Right he was very Healthy and happy and handsome as Hell .
Amazing actor. Breaks my heart to see him going through the throat cancer battle. If it hadn't been for that, I know for sure he'd still be making top movies today and perhaps be playing top roles and be as good looking as always. Hang in there buddy! 🙏
I was confused thinking he was talking about the new Sequel until i saw this video was uploaded 8yrs ago
Will he ever get his voice back? 😔
@@Daniel-ld7xs I don't think so, but through some type of voice device designed specifically for him, he might. Just like there are prosthetic or bionic extensions to help aid the body, I think there's something similar to the voice canals, but it all depends how severe his condition is. I hope he recovers at least so he can get strong and healthy enough to be around for more time and make s few more movies.

He deserved an award for his portraying of Jim Morrison. No one could have done it so well.
Agree 100%
Yea definitely
I respect Val Kilmer but I’ve always felt Jason Patric would’ve made a better Jim Morrison. In the film The Lost Boys there’s a scene where Patric’s face merges seamlessly with a picture of Morrison.
@@NZ_Man I had often thought that as well. I wonder if Jason could sing as well as Val did covering the Doors music .. I actually met Jason Patric about 10 years ago .. very nice fellow.

And seeing him today...
And how he stole the scene from Tom

This dude as Doc Holiday is still the pinnacle of an actor's ability.
Val made the movie Tombstone with Doc. Really excellent.
Great acting but still beneath Daniel Day Lewis acting in Gangs of New York.

@@tamaski Thats such an elementary level argument. I think my 6 year old has said the same thing. Philosophically its a pretty easy argument to overcome. You nor does anyone, understand what a supposed gods purpose for doing things would be. If god exists the idea that bad things wouldnt happen at all assumes a lot of other things. It assumes we arent meant to experience pain as a lesson. It assumes god is the only all powerful being (meaning the devil doesnt exist). Its just a dumb thing to say . I would respect you more if you said, "god doesnt exist" But making that argument just makes you look dumb

His part in Top Gun 2 was absolutely perfect. I’m so glad that he was in it.
Quanti attori bravi che non hanno vinto l Oscar ragazzi
To have Val Kilmer back in Top Gun 2 and tell Tom Cruise he’s STILL DANGEROUS would be priceless.
He has to do the thing where he bites his teeth together again lol
You KNOW that if he's in it, he's going to reprise that line...
@skateski yeah, that would be a fun incident for the film...
Would like to see him in a roll of instructor at Top Gun.
Things I want to see in Top Gun 2:
Ice tells Maverick he's still dangerous
Maverick spills the coffee over himself while Goose's son does something unexpected.
Small part in Top Gun 2, but one of the most memorable. Iceman lives forever!
Just seen Top Gun: Maverick
It was great to see Val in the film.
He’s definitely one of my all time favorite actors. Top ten for sure
Saw maverick in the theater, the scene with Val got me choked up.
wish they did the movie when val was still healthy, but the maverick movie was still epic. nostalgia
I absolutely loved his character in "Heat", one of my favorite movies EVER.

I watched Top Gun Maverick. It was bittersweet to see him after so long. However I felt quite sad what happened to him. Used to be so young, strong, full of energy, now he lost his voice. Good to see him here before he lost his voice.
Top Gun 2 was an excellent film, and a clinic to all production companies and directors across the world of what a sequel should be. Long live the Iceman!
I hope Kilmer is well and healthy. Best of luck to him!

Kilmer was as important to that film as cruise was!! It won't be top gun without both of them
Absolutely
Agreed
Agreed. VK was being humble. I respect people that can be. Not the glory hounds. Or the "actors" that don't know to respect fellow actors (e.g. Steven Segal--when asked about other martial arts action stars like JCVD...Jeff Speakman...). There's a reason why guys like Stallone are still relevant and working decades later. While others disappear after a few films.
They got so many things right with Top Gun. Actors, directing, photography, soundtrack...hoping for a "reference quality" 4k HDR Blu-Ray with Atmos. Demo worthy. Deserves it. As should TG2, assuming it's anywhere near as good as the first (I hope almost...doubt it will be "as good")...waited too long...I think 3 decades...
True that Iceman was legendary
Val Kilmer had throat cancer surgery and can barely speak. So there's no way he will be in the new movie. His voice is gone for the rest of his life
My first introduction to Val Kilmer was from the movie Willow
Tony Scott! What a legend. Nice to hear kind words from Val.
So grateful he was able to be a part of Top Gun Maverick... Loved him as Iceman in the original but his performance as Doc Holiday will always be my favorite.
You made a Marine cry when I saw you again Val. You still have it ! Charisma a professionalism.

Man, you made me cry in maverick. Great actor.
I heard a great story about Val Kilmer once that brought a smile to my face. Apparently he was in some nightclub in france or England for a night out. Two guys who did not know him were sitting at the bar and having a good time. One guy gets up to take a leak and runs into Val in the Bathroom. He respectfully asked if Val could wind up his bar mate by pretending to know the guy in the bathroom like they were old friends. Val agreed. The guy walks back to the bar and brags that he ran into his Old Friend, Val Kilmer. The barmate called Bullshit , Until a couple of minutes later, Val Strolls up and talks to the guy from the bathroom like their were old friends. The Other guy just watched, Amazed. That is a Great Story and a great actor. Should have won the Oscar for Tombstone, as the best performance of the 20th century. RH DSD
Great story and I agree 110 % on The Oscar (sad he didn't get nominated) which was a crime !
It is too bad that the Oscars are political instead of for pure talent. Val deserves a super Oscar for that performance. I have watched movies for 60 years and never seen a performance that GOOD in a movie. Respect. RH DSD
Totally agree and awesome story btw. His performance was unparalleled in that movie. Every time I hear of or see a special talking about Doc I think about Val as him. Totally underrated actor imho

Val captured the essence of Doc Holiday in Tombstone. It was for me the most incredible performance I have ever seen. I liked Ice Man and Maverick together but Doc Holiday has become more of hero than ever. I'll be your huckleberry!! LOVE IT!!
Such a great actor very underrated.. he should have won an Oscar for playing Doc Holliday in Tombstone what a great performance.
MrMagee78 totally agree with you about him. I can't say he's ever done a lousy performance I even liked him in Batman Forever which I can understand why people dislike that movie (I like it and I think Val Kilmer & the cast were the best parts of that movie)

Without Val Kilmer, there wont be a perfect Top Gun. He brings the "ice coolness" to the show.
Playing Doc Holliday will always be his definitive role for me.
Lol John Holmes from wonderland
True but he nailed Jim Morrison and Madmartigan.
@don wilson it's huckle bearer, referring to the fact that he'll carry his coffin
He's played a ton of great roles
My favorite role for him was Madmartigan in Willow. I also thought he did alright as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman Forever, but the hardcore comic book (nerd) fans didn't like that movie because they want to see a more dark and brooding Batman. But I think Kilmer played it just right. Christian Bale's phony brooding deep tone accent was just overkill... even Affleck does a better job at playing the role! I love how Michael Keaton got all pissed about working with the director when it came to making Batman Forever, and dropped out giving Kilmer the chance to play that role. And then years later, Keaton made Birdman, which basically depicts his own story of how he dropped out of the caped crusader role, that was then given to a better-looking younger actor (Kilmer). lol
Amazing that it finally happened. It was great to see Val and Tom again. What a fun sequel!!
What a man we were graced with... thank you Val. You will always be remembered as a deep soul with understanding of life beyond what most fathom.
Val is one phenomenal actor. He did a movie called First Sight with Mira Sorvino. Small budget film but he was amazing. He played a man who recovered his sight as an adult. He went into a store and crashed right through a glass window. I just knew he was going to be nominated just for the way he portrayed the fear and uncertainty behind that character. The Saint was also impressive. I can't pick a bad film I've seen him in.👍😊
Val Kilmer is one of this generations most under appreciated actors. He's an enormous talent that has significantly added to every movie I've seen him in, and completely redefined the role in some (Tombstone).
I was SO glad he was in TG2: Maverick. would not have seen the movie without him.

I have watched lots of Val Kilmer interviews I find him fascinating, He has always talked a little slow he is so full of authenticity he inspires me to live life in the moment. I also believe he should have gotten a oscar maybe even a couple but from listening to him when he talks about the films he has chosen to be a part of. I get the impression that a oscar is not his main objective he does not really even care if he is the lead character in the find he chooses. One Movie that comes to mind is Heat which he played 2nd lead when he asked why he took it he said because he gets to work with De Niro and Pacino he is a true artist who loves to live life and truly entertain people he is simply a joy to watch and to listen too. Btw he had to gain weight for either a film role or a performance in the theater if you google him now you will see he is in great shape.
