I began watching Val in the last few years all over again, he is truly a gifted actor and after watching Val...He is a wonderful human being...Prayers he continues to heal....
Val should have received an Academy Award for Doc Holiday in Tombstone. He was absolutely fantastic. I was pissed off then and now. I totally love him. Just saw his movie ‘Val’. He is so brave and wonderful. 💕💕
I think "val" superficially skimmed the surface..while the archive footage was great- I would have like to see him dig deeper on the perception of his bad behavior..loosing everything..estrangement from the kids ..
He seems very smart, which is why I find it so hard to believe that he let a cancerous tumor fester for many months while trying to heal it with prayer and lost his voice because of it.

He not only took on a rocker persona that was given to him and completely out of his character, he was not into drugs ever or into the doors...but he sang 8n that movie as well, his voice that he trained to sound so much like Jim Morrison that the doors surviving members could not tell them apart! It wasn't Vals fault that the movie depicted Jim in a horrible light and was very inaccurate about Jim. Val didn't know, but he sure copied Jims moves and voice and was incredible. And Tombstone...he made that movie. He was just wow. He doesn't have the years and # of movies of some. But what he's done has been remarkable. He was youngest person ever accepted into Juliard.
His Documentary "Val" really made me see him in a new light. Losing his voice is such a tragedy. I hope he can get a Mark Twain movie made. I love his spirit.
A very complex and brilliant man. His roles as a young actor were so immersive and compelling I thought he was a moody narcissist but he's anything but that.

IMO Val Kilmer is one of the greatest actors of our generation. And to listen to him talk it's so obvious that he creates the character, the character doesn't become him.

Robert Downey Jr. is very courageous for beating his drug abuse (caused by his dad) I seriously thought he would've died from it, Johnny Depp another very talented actor ( I wish he would stop his substance abuse) & I love Tom Hanks, and also both the Scott's were/are excellent directors & lastly Tom Skettit a very good actor. Tony Scott's suicide is a tragedy.

I do think its a bit weird that he never came to the same level as Depp, Cruise, Pitt etc. He kinda had it going from the 80s, like a momentum buildup, but for some reason never landed any iconic role in the same way. Cruise, Depp, Pitt etc also kept on getting big roles after 2000's, while as Kilmer kinda went the B-movie route sometimes after 2000. To me its a bit of a mystery. Because Kilmer packs the same punch as these other actors and when I was young I always saw him as one favourite actor on par with Schwarzenegger, Depp, Cruise etc. Same goes for Michael Biehn which is a fantastic actor, but his career went to toilet because of his alcohol addiction he has stated himself.
He was such a perfectionist in acting that I heard he was hard to work with and he wasn't offered many roles after Batman. He was also writing "Citizen Twain"...which looked really good...and then he got throat cancer. Life is unpredictable.
