All magical Superheroes suffer from this. Zatanna, Constantine, Doctor Fate, Raven, Brother Voodoo, Klarion, Wiccan, etc. are all plagued with having the most versatile (and often strongest) power sets, only to be thrown into the background because they would solve the problem faster than the regular Superheroes.
To be fair, his opponents were very powerful beings. Thanos had 4 out of 6 infinity stones and those were probably the most powerful to rank. Scarlet Witch's Chao magic is both the most unique and powerful magic. Dormammu is nearly a god so strange had to resort to his wits
I think the main problem as to why Strage’s strength feels inconsistent is that in every installment other than his first film, his powers are so poorly defined. The writers can make him as strong or as weak as they want as the plot demands it

The snakes, the giant hands, the giant cat head.... what was the purpose in any of it? I mean seriously he probably would have put up a better fight against Wanda using eldritch whips and shields. Then there's the musical battle, which was just silly. Indeed, I dare say the least absurd point of that movie is Defender Strange, throwing the cutting discs and creating the giant magical net to bind the ribbon monster. In No Way Home, however, he fights more practically. Conjures eldritch whips, sends Peter to the mirror dimension, teleports people around, etc. The fiery, magical energy special effects seem to really work well with him, the constructs, the mirror-dimension effects, etc. They seemed to abandon most of this in the MoM movie in exchange for giant cat heads and snake heads and green fire (Flames of the Faltine presumably, yet somehow I still feel it could have been done better.) But then, Multiverse of Madness is a mess in general. Doctor Strange was more of a main character in No Way Home than he was in his own movie. In the end, in MoM, Strange was the titular character, but not the protagonist.

I would love for some Colour difference like the flames of the faltine. I want strange’s magic to be unbounded unique different and creative. Not the same old orange eldritch constructs. The least stupid magical power Strange displayed in that movie was creating a giant magical buzzsaw. Everything else was just absurd to the point of stupidity. That's why I didn't complain about Infinity War and Endgame, where his magic felt more "on brand" with what we've come to expect from the doctor.
You know one complaint I have with Magic users today in live action comic book movies, is that they don't say the incantation or the verbal spell to cast the magic. They just do the magic without any explanation.
I get this so much. I really thought I was the only one who loved it when mages actually muttered the spells before they take effect. No because, in my opinion, I genuinely feel like at least it gives their opponents a fair chance. For example, the spell can't take effect until it's been fully said so their opponents could, idk, bind them before that happens. This is only for the instance of OP characters mind you. idk if I make sense or not😬
It's not with any explanation that's just not how all systems of magic work some are incantation (witchcraft in the mcu) based some are somatic (sorcery in the mcu) others like chaos magic don't really require either as they are that powerful.

Not a continuity problem it was stated and shown that Wanda is stronger than strange. Also if you would have watched the movies you would know Wanda possess both magic AND psionic abilities. Your "opinion" is irrelevant because she was using her telepathy to control them. Remember for most of her time in the mcu she was using her psionic abilities like telekinesis and telepathy. That changed in wandavision when she discovered her chaos magic and she used that as well as her psionics in mom.

the main problem with the movie was it was too much Wanda and too less Stephen. besides that, the movie was visually great but hard to follow. a problem many modern movies have nowadays as the effects become overwhelming and mostly because of shadowing the poor writing or directing skills like Jar Jar abrams or GRR Martin. Anyone else notice that the hand movements for the time stone are different from Dr strange and infinity war?
In the 1st Dr strange movie he was still new to it and infinity war he gained more experience so he didn't have to do as much also he didn't do as much with it in infinity war. In mom the stone is gone and it is just the eye of agamotto

Not a continuity problem it was stated and shown that Wanda is stronger than strange. Also if you would have watched the movies you would know Wanda possess both magic AND psionic abilities. Your "opinion" is irrelevant because she was using her telepathy to control them. Remember for most of her time in the mcu she was using her psionic abilities like telekinesis and telepathy. That changed in wandavision when she discovered her chaos magic and she used that as well as her psionics in mom.

Ok sure. You have a point on Wanda is a master of psionic but the part of continuity problem still exist and still remain no matter how much you try
Take this for example. Wanda indeed considered to be stronger than Strange. Sure but still Strange is one hell of a obstacle in front of Wanda and her goal, we also learnt that Wanda can destroy someone with one single shot and right after that facing Strange and Wong. What did she do? “If you would have watched the movies you would know” Wanda toss Strange and Wong aside simple because the plot said so resulting in her missed her goal and the audiences have a minor migraine
Alright, after that she slaughtered the entire Illumiwhaty, shown off her badass powerful (and cough.....feminism.....cough) anyway, we know Wanda cable of doing horrible horrible thing, and she faced Strange and Christine “and if you have watched the movie you would know Wanda” toss them again leaving her biggest obstacle remain alive and leaving the audience with a even bigger migraine
(Also the whole deal of Wong saying sorcerers not allowed to use magic near the mountain, got toss off the cliff, proceeds to use magic)
So after that we all. From a very painful experience, know that Wanda is powerful that even the Strange cannot lay a single finger on her because she have a long range skill and after the long ass big succ she perform on Travez and so is the cringy ass motivation speech from Strange. Wanda now for some fucking reason become a mele girl and proceed to got hit by plain fists...............hmm, i wonder what happen to Mr.Fantastic after he tried to punch her with a 10 times longer arms than Travez but ok, boi suppose to die faster than girl in this movie because we need “the message”........................i wanted to die after seeing that in theatre my mate
The deal here is to create a good villain you need a point which called the point of no return. And the longer you can linger your villain at the edge of the line the better the villain
Take Homelander for example, his point of no return is if the fact that he killing and not stable minded is public, everything will goes down to even a bloodier path. That’s create the SO MUCH tense everytime he on screen because we know exactly what he is capable of and knowing that the only thing stopping him from doing so is just this fragile line and the boys is save purely from that line of no killing infront of civilians but still the line is fragile and is very tense
Now let’s go back to Wanda shall we. Her point of no return could count from the moment she slaughtered the entire santum. Ok, an odd choice to put your villain in a slaughtered mood already, sure it will be pay off later on in the movie right?.............no, again she proceed to toss Strange and Wong away and just that. Another point of no return is the slaughter of illuminawhatthefuck. She legit destroyed that universe set of heroes and proceed to toss Strange and Christine away again, and that yoyo type of bringing your villain cross the line and back not gonna make your villain unpredictable, it just make the movie frustrating and plot convenience
The most solid proof of this is the end phase of the movie. I don’t care how much you praise on Wanda there is one truth that if you just pay attention to people around you in theatre and yourself you will likely realise that you and them have lost the frighten of Wanda as a villain simply because of the yoyo effect. We now know she won’t fucking do it, i even talk to my mate in the theatre that i fucking dare she do it, the plot simply keep the threats away from the main cast of characters and that’s why we don’t afraid anymore. The main casts won’t die because of a brilliant invisible line of no return like homelander and the boys. They were saved by pure plot, by the director saying yeah i want you go full out massacre on them but have mercy on those two resulting in massive continuity problem scattered across the entire movie
To long didn’t read: so............is Wanda supposed to be a full-out killing machine or a clown? I dunno. It is frustrating to watch, fuck this movie everyone hate it

the main problem with the movie was it was too much Wanda and too less Stephen.
besides that, the movie was visually great but hard to follow. a problem many modern movies have nowadays as the effects become overwhelming and mostly because of shadowing the poor writing or directing skills like Jar Jar abrams or GRR Martin.

No, mister fantastic and black bolt are already dead so a girl with a shield can somehow outlast them. Anyway after the fight Wanda our beloved continue to chase down this dude but not killing him. Allow him to trigger a new, stronger woke power in America Travez and she punch the crap out of the Scarlet Witch, who countered and immediately killed mister fantastic for doing the same because suppose, no woman can be harm or hurt or else Marvel gonna get cancel on X also known as Twitter back then I guess

It's a bit funny that people within the marvel universe don't try to learn this type of magic more often.
If i knew sorcerers exist, and knew what they were capable of, i would definitely do everything I can to learn it especially with all the other crazy things that exist in the MCU like advanced aliens and interdimensional beings.
