This week on TestDrive we’re comparing the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder SL and 2024 Hyundai Palisade Urban, two midsize SUVs priced around the $57,000 CAD mark offering plenty for Canadian buyers. We go over the technical specifications of each vehicle along with some key features about each. We also go over important dimensions such as length, width, height, headroom, legroom, and more.
We then take the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder SL on the road to talk about its overall drive, ride, performance, and our fuel economy test results. Nile takes the wheel while Victor rides in the second row. We also discuss our fuel economy test results with both vehicles along with some key features of the Nissan.
We swap over and switch positions as we test out the 2024 Hyundai Palisade Urban with Victor behind the wheel and Nile riding in the second row. We discuss the ride, drive, and handling of this vehicle along with our thoughts on the performance. We also go over some of the key differences the Hyundai has to offer.
We then wrap up with our final thoughts and takeaways from driving both SUVs back to back.

We used to own a Hyundai and were ultimately disappointed with it and would never recommend it to family or friends. Too many issues.

Pathfinder for the more traditional looks. Probably if I was looking in that price range I'd probably stretch and get an Infinti Q60, those look really good to me.
We've got another QX60 lined up later this season. It hasn't changed since we drove it a couple years ago but it's always nice to revisit vehicles.
For motor heads, Pathfinder is way better. Gives you AWD, more grunt under the boot and handles really well. Palisade is more for people who like gadgets and tech more than the actual driving experience.

The Palisade doesn’t have power folding mirrors. They stick out far, 96” from mirror to mirror vs. 86” for the Pathfinder. I couldn’t get the Palisade in the garage.

The Pathfinder design is more ergonomic and economical price wise than the Palisade .
I have a 2020 Nissan Murano I used for my work commute looking to upgrade to the Pathfinder .

I bought the 24 pathfinder platinum. You will NOT be disappointed. My bro has the pilot and other bro has CX-90. Pathfinder keeps ranking in bottom half on all these rankings yet when I drive all 3 I’ll take it all day any day.
VQ35DE is reliable motor burning-free. Get Pathfinder over potential burning engines; palisade/telluride.
Is that new? The v6 i thought was reliable in the telluride, where the hybrids, phev, and the 4 pots were junk..

Question for Nile, big man to big man, which has the better space front/middle row between these two and how does it compare to the Grand Highlander that I just watched your review of?
My seat always goes all the way back, no matter the vehicle, need a family vehicle that someone can sit behind me. If I blow the budget on a Grand Highlander or Sienna, at least I can get a hybrid which helps with $2/L gas here in BC.
I found that with the Palisade the seat sits high up, whereas the Pathfinder I could drop it very low, giving me more space as a driver to get the position I wanted. The Grand Highlander also had less vertical seat movement like the Palisade. I don’t normally need to push the seat all the way back so I couldn’t tell you which one maximized that, but the Palisade has better legroom dimensions on paper over both, so you may want to start with that one.
I AM SURE THE PATHFINDER HAS THE FAR BETTER ENGINE COMPARED TO THE HYUNDAI FOR LONGEVITY!!!!!!

If… Nissan upgrades the head unit to what they placed in the refreshed Rogue, then give me the Pathfinder. Hope the 2025 sees this upgrade.
I'd hope they update their entire lineup with the new hardware, but it can be hit or miss.
Be ready to see engine downsizing like refreshed Infiniti qx60
You can have any and all Hyundai Kia and Genesis.. hard pass!!

The Pathfinder was new for 2022, although the infotainment is very dated and needs a complete overhaul.
