Hi! Is it possible to use less sugar for both the meringue and buttercream? If yes, what measurements do you suggest? Thanks for the recipe by the way! I love silvanas but I can't handle very sweet sweets 😅
Hello! This recipe already uses less sugar. :) Also, this recipe uses powdered sugar, not regular sugar, and thus, isn't as sweet as it would be if you used regular sugar. :) The meringue already has as little sugar as it can have, and we do not suggest altering the recipe for it to be successful. What you can tweak is the buttercream. The powdered sugar can be lessened even further to as little as 1/2 cup if you're really not into sweets. Good luck!
Hi! Yes, it's ok to use another type of nut. However, the taste will be different and the texture may be harder since almonds are not as tender as cashews. :) Good luck and hope it works out for you. :)
Hi! You can buy the cookies (still intact and whole hehehe... ) in supermarkets. If you can't find these, you can actually use any cookie that's been crushed for these. Hope that helps! Thanks for visiting and watching our videos. 😊
Hi! You will need a more fine sugar than caster sugar to make a smooth buttercream. You can try making powdered sugar but if you do, we suggest you add a bit of cornstarch to help it not clump up. :) Good luck! Thanks for watching our videos. :)
Hello! We have not tried but you can certainly try using egg white substitutes. Good luck! Thanks for watching our videos and dropping by to check out our channel. 😊
Hi! Unless the recipe says otherwise, all baking recipes require the oven to be preheated or else your dish will not be evenly baked, it will take double the time it says it will bake, and it will melt your ingredients before it can rise, leading to a failed recipe. Also, if you watch until 0:44, it says 325 degrees F that, when converted, is around 160 degrees C. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching our videos. :)
Hi! You can of course store this in the freezer so the buttercream will freeze if that's what you mean. :) Thanks for visiting and watching our videos. :)
Hi! You can certainly use almond flour if that's what available to you. You can also grind pili nuts, macadamia nuts, and even peanuts. Just remember to stop before it turns to butter. Good luck! :)
Hi! There are many ready-made versions in malls and bakeries around the Metro. You can also make it at home with this video recipe as your guide. Good luck! Thanks for visiting the channel and watching our videos. 🥰
Hello! Meringue is a really sticky mixture so using a silicone mat or parchment paper is really recommended. Also, the meringue cookies need to be cooked fully until crisp so it has a better chance to be removed cleanly from the parchment. If not, bake is little more until the bottoms are crisp. :) Good luck and thanks for watching our videos! :)
Hello! At which step? You need to use the kind of sugar as indicated in each step. Granulated sugar aka white sugar is for the meringue, powdered sugar with the cashews and the buttercream. Thanks for visiting and watching our videos. :)
Hello! Cream of tartar is an acid that helps stabilize and make the egg whites easier to whip to stiff peaks. The meringue will rise in the oven but it will deflate again since it's mostly air. Don't worry that it does. It's normal. :) Hope you try our recipe. It's easy and delicious. Thanks for watching our videos. :)
Hi! We do not know what the original recipe of Dumaguete is but this is our version. Hope you try it and find that it's just as good. Thanks for watching our videos! 😊
Hi! Cream of tartar is an acid that stabilizes the egg whites so it will whip fluffier than without. If you don't have cream of tartar, you can add 1/4 teaspoon calamansi juice per large egg white you use instead. :) Thanks for watching our videos. :)
