    Hi Bob, Just found you yesterday and removed my 2000 Safari with ease and replaced the Infamous moisture ridden CAP / Rotor Assembly. Thanks. Next time I'll take your advice and use Delco parts. Not sure what I was thinking because I always tell the shop to use Genuine parts OEM...

      My logic is... “do it once”.., I don’t want have to do it again later! 😉

    Bob I have watched you fix the rust on the Astro van. I watched you solder the wires to get the door locks to work. I think this might be to bid a job for you do you agree. Oh, wait you have that new plastic crap that will keep your floor dry, so you may as well go ahead. And it should be fun to watch. Haven't seen the back of your head in a while and you haven't been hurt yet. this could take care of both of those in the one video.

      Pat Gentry well, I guess you’re watching so I must be doing something right!

    Do you have a video on EGR replacement... The code is coming up again on my 2000 Safari for it on the tests. Van has 509,800 mi on original engine on her and this is the 3 rd one but I have time on my hands now to replace it as it is an accessible place up front. Thank you and just subscribed...

      Not unless it was included in my 3 part manifold gasket replacement series.... I pulled off a lot of things and put them back like they came out...

    Thanks Bob, I've been there many times having been driving one of these since 1995. I dread doing this every time . That main section gives me fits . Now I have a designated set of specific tools that stay in the vehicle. Ever seen a condition where a severe misfire that seems to happen when it gets real moist like rain snow or foggy weather?

      I did a complete ignition tune up last winter when it had starting problems and it runs perfectly now, starts first click. I think a new cap, rotor, wires and plugs (I have a video doing that too!) may cure it.The lesson I learned is... use genuine AC Delco parts, I get them very reasonably right on Amazon! Thanks for commenting! Lots of Astro repair videos on my channel. I have a whole playlist dedicated to it.

      @@bobsbarnworkshop Hey Bob, Yeah I just now found your channel. I was looking for tips on removing the dog house because it gives me crap every time . My current Astro needs to be tuned up again. I found humid air conditions caused found major arcing at the coil. As a remedy I clean and spray down all the wires around the coil area with Gunk brand electrical protector which worked great. Thanks for the video's I'll be watching the rest of yours.

      Romer22001 yeah, after you do it a couple times you get pretty quick at it.... two torx 30 side screws, a couple 13mm on the bottom horizontal to the floor under the carpet, and pull off the cover. Pull out the heat duct, two more vertical 13mm in the bottom corners and the two big screws horizontal in each top corner, good luck! Don’t forget the power connector for the lighter plugs... I always forget when reinstalling!!!

    The hose on the heat duct on mine just kind of fell off when I removed it. Having a hell of a time finding where it goes? Any tips?

      the locks are totally electric. You can take off the plastic trim inside and you'll find a lever that will pop the lock. Otherwise you'll have to trace out the wiring and test the lock solenoid to find and fix the problem. You should hear all the locks in the van click if you insert the key and turn it. Hope that helps.
      I have several videos in my Astro van playlist showing work on the electric locks
      Thanks for watching!

    I am trying to replace coil thru doghouse. I'm having trouble getting out old one, can you help?

    • @bobsbarnworkshop
      @bobsbarnworkshop  3 роки тому

      Well with the doghouse off you’ll need metric wrenches or sockets to get it off. I don’t specifically remember what size the hold downs are but I’d guess 10mm. It’s a pain working under there I know! You can always remove the passenger seat, just four 18mm bolts down through the top corners of the seat base makes access much easier! Good luck!

      Pat Gentry just wearing work gloves, it’s cold in western NY in January! My wife’s car gets the garage space and it just as cold a dark in there!

    What about the magic trick necessary to get that thing out from between the seats and back, it's beyond a Chinese puzzle to truly getting it out of the way making this entire video pretty worthless.

    • @bobsbarnworkshop
      @bobsbarnworkshop  3 роки тому

      Oh boy! You’re right there! It can be done by twisting, tilting and good luck it will come all the way out! Make sure both seats are all the way back and it helps! Good luck, thanks for watching!
