In that case it takes 4 quarts. Dry fill capacity is 8.8 quarts Service fill is 4 quarts which is what you are referring to. Make sure you have the 42rle transmission, you know this by checking to see if it has 13 bolts on the transmission pan
If my jeep runs out of gas before Amazon delivers the dipstick should i keep filling it up with a gas can? Or push it to the gas station since its in neutral? Update: i just pushed it, it was really far, and my wife's arm almost got stuck under the tire and nearly broke the temperature reader, but she hung on giving me constant temperature updates. And Amazon finally showed up, and turns out, the transmission level was fine.
Thank's a lot. when I poured 5 liters of oil. It worked perfectly. please tell me how much should be on a cold engine? For example, in the morning, when I had not turned ON the engine yet.?
I saw another video that said 45mm is the fill. I’ve never touched it and it’s around 50mm. My transmission is making whirring noises and shakes a bit so I thought it was low. Idk which direction to head beside the torque converter?
The O ring on my Transmission cooler hookup failed and a lot of transmission fluid leaked out, what level should I aim for on the dip stick? I figure if to much came out the temp reading might be off, but that just a guess.
How do you know how much fluid to put in. Let's say it's reading 30mm and it should be 40mm, is that one quart or half. Should I add a half quart at a time and keep checking.
If your transmission fluid is low will it cause my Liberty, to go into limp mode? My Liberty won’t rev over 2000 rpm, or go over 25 mph. I had my battery tested yesterday, and wouldn’t go over 25 mph. I changed the battery out, it started driving fine, but the following day same issue.
Low transmission fluid doesn't make it go into limp mode but it will make that the transmission slips ,sounds like you have an engine problem, check battery voltage, alternator, misfire
Joshyoden I dropped it last weekend. There’s one bolt that gets in the way of a standard 3/8 10mm socket. You’ll want to use a 1/4in driver and socket on that one particular bolt.
hi, please tell me, I have aJeep liberty 2011 sport. I changed the oil, changed the filter, poured ATf +4 mopar. 5 liters. I have dipstik just you have, but I don’t know how to measure the temperature. I've no chance to check the temp..
you can somehow find out approximately without devices what is the water temperature when the arrow is in the center?! to see on the scale how much to add oil in the box.
Cheers! Would you please put a link to the Temp/level chart? Also, would a regular engine Oil dip stick Work? Because the specialized from Amazon looks lile a regular dipstick?
The early first edition Jeep Liberty's were great, looked great, didn't have tha dog ugly square looks, even came with trans dipstick and dont need a heat chart to check trans fluid, just pull it out, is says full, that means good to go, no temp gun needed. I'd try using the oil dipstick, wipe it off and stick it in the trans...........
How many quarts total does it take for just a pan drop and a filter change?
In that case it takes 4 quarts.
Dry fill capacity is 8.8 quarts
Service fill is 4 quarts which is what you are referring to.
Make sure you have the 42rle transmission, you know this by checking to see if it has 13 bolts on the transmission pan
You can use your existing oil dip stick ,It will buttom out in pan one inch is 25.4 millimeters.
Ok but what about the part where you fill it? I'm trying to get that done

I appreciate that you checked the scanner and your temp gun and verified that. Ordered my temp gun!

Should you drive the jeep to get the trans warmed up or just start the jeep when its cold and let it idle?
Would you be able to use a dipstic from a gen 1 Liberty?
can the aftermarket dip stick get caught around the transmission gears if the engine is running in neutral?🐫
Where did you get the oil temp chart..? Have a 2010 Liberty Limited, trying to find this for my vehicle.
If you buy a dipstick on amazon for like 9 bucks it comes with the chart
the oil temp chart is in the OEM Shop Manual from - on CDROM in my case.

Did you check the drive shaft u joints

Let it run in neutral with park brake on for 20 minutes or until it's at normal operating temperature. Then aim for 40 millimeters on the DIPSTICK.
You can add the fluid that we to just use a funnel
Where would I put the transmission fluid in on my 2005 jeep liberty
Do you fill the fluid in the same place you put the dipstick? I can't find info on it anywhere
Yes pour down dipstick tube with funnel
How do you know how much fluid to put in. Let's say it's reading 30mm and it should be 40mm, is that one quart or half. Should I add a half quart at a time and keep checking.
I would do half quart at a time to be safe , I changed the transmission filter and pan and I had to put in 6qts after doing that
Por donde agregas el aceite ???
You add the oil into the transmission DIPSTICK tube with a funnel.

Did you just add the transmission oil only or changed the filter aswell.
I just added oil. This link is for a video were i change the filter and fluid.

I used the oils dip stick and it worked perfectly
Did you drop the pan? If so did the exhaust get in the way at all? I’ve seen on JKs it does but there’s not a ton of info about the libertys.
Joshyoden I dropped it last weekend. There’s one bolt that gets in the way of a standard 3/8 10mm socket. You’ll want to use a 1/4in driver and socket on that one particular bolt.
I dropped my pan and exchanged my filter. I put 4 quarts and heated it up and I used a dipstick and it shows I have 0 oil in there smh
You'll need to put in at least 5quarts for that job.
make sure your dipstick is long enough.
yoden ok thanks

You can also go to your local junkyard and find a dipstick from there.
I believe the dash reads back to temperature
Chrysler (Smiths Falls Ontario ) wanted $120 to run their 'special" dip stick into my transmission!
That's a bargain. They're normally $200-250.
Thanks for the video, made life easier when heading to the parts store. What was your source for the chart for how much fluid per temp to have?
Cheers! Would you please put a link to the Temp/level chart? Also, would a regular engine Oil dip stick Work? Because the specialized from Amazon looks lile a regular dipstick?

just use the oil dip stick after cleaning well.
Oil dipsticks are typically too short to reach the transmission pan.
So very helpful
Thanks for posting
Nice video well explained
Never showed how to put the fluid in
Pour down dipstick tub using a funnel ,they same as filling any other transmission.
Fluid type
That is great! Salam sukabeda from.bali...
