Just before the 2 of them were apprehended, I had an encounter with them in Montebello park in the middle of the night. I was sleeping on a park bench there. Very creepy & disturbing.

@@pumalogo204 Yeah. The powers that be 'made a deal with the devil' with Homolka. It was her testimony and giving the police the necessary proof to nail Bernardo. Without her information, he would have most likely only got a slap on the wrist. But, still . . . it is totally sickening that she, who was in it all with him, is walking free as a bird. But Bernardo should never have seen the light of day - PERIOD!! The scary thing is, as Sid says, he will go to medium security and little by little get less and less security and some night without the public knowing it, Bernardo will out on the street. Every psychologist, psychiatrist, etc. says he is a person who will do this all again as soon as he can. Again, the liberals and their easy on crime crap. Would they be so inclined to be easy on Bernardo if it was one of their daughters? Not very likely!!

You are absolutely correct about that, but here’s the thing….my opinion on this entire case. He was a rapist, prior to meeting his wife. Rapist is horrific enough, but once he met her, his crimes became horrific, sick, disgusting murders. One included his own, I think she was only 13 at the time, sister in-law. Her own sister.
Somehow she got a deal and is free to live wherever she wants, and he is doing all the time for both of their disgusting acts. She needs to be put back in jail for life. They have videos proving they both committed these deaths. Why is she out?
The deal they gave her. It's worse now, they are giving non-prosecution deals to people worse than her. Sickening.
when I was following this story in the 80s I thought Carla was more guilty than he was. It was HER little sister she set up, using drugs SHE had taken from work and she was unperturbed. She did a few years, got out, married her lawyer and probably never gave the past any thought. I have no sympathy at all for the both of them but I do regret that one partner in crime gets life and the other gets to have a good life
He was left holding the bag for Karla, who now lives in the Waterloo area. I remember her at trial, unemotional, stone cold killer, and she got the deal because he was too stupid to rat her butt out. They are two of the worst bags of skin on this planet.

Never watched this show/guy before but he is absolutely correct. Canada’s “Justice” system is broken; this is a slap in the face to the victims’ families.
What about Vince li he's free to eat another human being he's the guy who killed a fellow passenger on a bus and started to eat him but he was sent to a nut house and a slap on a wrist saying don't do that again the guys family never got justice for his murder he's free to eat again.

What about the affluent Mr Muzzo who decided, after a drunken weekend flown to Vegas and home in his family’s private jet, continuing to drink, to drive home and wiped out the only 3 children of the Neville-Lake family as well as a grandfather? He only got 10 year sentence in 2016 and was paroled in 2021 having served barely 5 years for the deaths of 4 human beings. I guess money does talk.

Not totally true. The Police messed up by not finding the video tapes. Karla knew about the tapes and where they were hidden, before she signed her plea deal. She lied about "telling all she knew". Bob Rae's Attorney General (Marion Boyd), could have cancelled Karla's deal at that point but didn't because gov't lawyers were afraid that they'd never be able to get any deals with snitches in the future. That's what happened and that's why she served 12 years and is free now.
Prosecution should never have made a deal in the first place. There’s no reason why you can’t put both of them away for life without the stupid tapes. Plenty of other evidence

Paul B, is a killer. When I was 17 years old he and his girlfriend killed that girl 2miles from where I lived. She was tortured amongst far more sickening things I don’t want to mention.

Medium-security
These institutions have the same security safeguards as maximum security institutions. Medium security allows more interaction among inmates. This allows them to take responsibility for their actions, and co-operate with each other.

Sure he's a Do status inmate and most likely will never be released but people are only up in arms because his case was media heavy. Does everyone realize how many inmates who have done worse things have been downgraded and eventually get out and no one bat's an eye?

Corrections Canada is NOT INDEPENDENT of Fed govt. They report directly to the Minister like the RCMP Commissioner reports to the Minister. By the way the Head of Corrections was placed there by Libs , that is how it works. I WORKED in Fed Justice system for 34 years

For starters, I don't know how he can quantify the fact that if Bernardo was black this wouldn't have happened. 2) Despite the fact Bernardo is a piece of sh** and should stay in maximum security, no reason to think he'll be out when Sid is 55 which is in like 5 years. He will never get out of prison whether it's Maximum or Medium it doesn't really matter that much. He spent 28 years already in Max and Karla has a family and walks freely in Quebec. Medium will allow him to talk to other prisoners and maybe a little Television. His chances of getting jumped or killed increases under Medium, So what's the problem?? lol

Evidently there was an attempted attack amongst inmates to his jail cell (where they got fought off with tear gas by security) while he was at Kingston Penitentiary. I'm hoping his pathetic life ends very soon in medium security.

Bernardo should never step foot on free ground. Not sure what the fear of medium security vs. max. prisons is though.
There is no difference in security but ultimately this process helps prepare him for a minimum security institution.

Paul Bernardo is the reason many Canadians believe the death penalty should be reinstated. When the death penalty was abolished it was supposed to be a life sentence not we’ll slowly sneak him out the back door after 30 years.

One other thing... here in Buffalo, a lot of the news coverage of this case, and subsequent trial, was censored or otherwise severely limited, and I'm sure it was the case in other Border communities such as Detroit, Plattsburgh, the far northern parts of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, and other such areas.
However, one particular night, while at a friend's house in Dunkirk, I noticed that Buffalo's *DATELINE* show segment on this case was blacked out on WGRZ... then I changed a few channels to WICU in Erie, PA... it aired in full.
We were 15 minutes from releasing Charles Ng onto the streets of Calgary because of our laws and “communication”.
I am 100 behind this guy.

Even more outrageous is the cost per year of keeping a person in maximum security: $115,000.
I was 15 too when this all happened and it was quite scary…It really opened my eyes to how our society can become psychotic. There are troubled people out there, we know nothing about it. The amount of mental disabilities out there, is insane. Our system is at fault for this and they deliberately create these scenarios with so many means to break down the human psyche.
This just happened with Cody Legebokoff. One of the worst and youngest Canadian Serial killers. He killed with blunt force trauma and knives as well. A serial murderer of 4 women in Prince George, British Columbia. He used all sorts of heinous killing tools. He was sent to possibly a minimum security prison in Ontario after getting a life sentence. They tried to sneak this through in the cover of night. They said they cannot give information on Cody's case because it violates his rights. The reason he is sent to a lower security prison? To rehabilitate him. He murdered these so badly not even testimony of the causes of death could be entered in court to other than the jurors.
Too bad we don't have the death penalty here. He should remain in maximum security for his entire life alone

He started out in Scarborough assaulting and stalking woman and also in the High Park area. I lived at High Park and he stalked me and followed me from the subway one night and I walked calmly until I reached the driveway of my apartment and started to run and open my door and closed it behind me quickly and I shall never forget his face and his screaming and pounding on the class entrance door to my apartment angry that I had outsmarted him and escaped his attacking me. I remember is so clearly to this day and at the time the police that came after I called, just told me I should not be walking after 10pm from the subway and did not pursue or help me. Working in the legal field I was going to be assigned to work in the courtroom during his case and refused. I am so lucky I escaped is wrath. Those people that let him move to another facility should be fired. This guy put fear in my life and those he captured. This is outrageous that killers and rapists get this type of protection and moved to lower security venues.

Should be in maximum security and throw him in General population they will take care of him. I was around 14 and remember this so well.
