Jays had such a nice core in mid 2010s and this management office decided to tear it all down because it wasn’t theirs. That team had something this team doesn’t have, leadership.
Well, I agree with Sid's rant 100% but I don't agree with that. The core was showing its age in 2016 but outperformed and made a playoff run. The writing was on the wall however that key players were getting past their prime and a rebuild was in order. If anything, they let it ride too long in 2017 and wasted a rebuild year. The key mistake was letting AA go and bringing in the Shatkins team.
Analytics will never understand the psychology of a player. What motivates a person is not always obvious, often why great coaches, along with great writers, are hard to come by.
Vladdy needs to grow up! I agree! The dumping of water onto players heads during post game interviews is old!! The other players get annoyed by it and you can see it in their faces. This guy needs to mature now and start taking this game serious. His mediocre offensive output this season, swinging at everything, was so frustrating to watch. I love watching the Jays but found myself not that interested this season. There needs to be some changes and it needs to be done now!
Right on Sid! I FULLY agree with you. You hit all the 'balls' in your commentary. MLB is all about money and politics now. Thanks to BT for allowing you to communicate this! Excellent!!!!
The only thing I disagree with Sid is what he thinks of Bo. Maybe he’s not as much of a leader, but he’s arguably worked a lot on his weaknesses (mainly defense), while still being the one real hitting machine. And his reason for challenging Correa at home was reasonable (he needed to make a perfect throw). 🤷🏻♂️ Deep down, I’m sure he wanted to make something happen. Vladdy on the other hand I wouldn’t mind not seeing again tbh.
Agree. Mistake by Vladdy was one of the worst in recent Jays history. Bo at home was an aggressive play that didn't work out. He at least looks like he is trying to win. Bo is continuing to get better every year. Can't say the same about Vladdy.
Bo is still a horrible shortstop with a huge ego and no common sense on the basepaths. Switch him to second base and check his ego, and he may be worth keeping. Vlady needs to go.
I think he's just emotional about the base running error. Because yeah Bo was the only one hitting for them. And he also greatly reduced the amount of fielding errors he made this season compared to last.
Analytics should have told them not to start Gauzman in game 1. The Twins owned him every time they played him. Analytics should have told them that the Twins are laying off his best pich, always low in the strike zone and usually not for strikes. Not one strike up in the zone all game. Analytics should have told them that their catchers can't call a game.
I was thinking exactly like you about Gauzman pitching the first game, and obviously it didn’t work out well. Just another bad decision by management. Things need to change or I won’t be watching future games.
I mean, you also can't reasonably expect to win a game 1-0. I really don't understand how they think its okay that you can do that. Gausman pitched great, one guy hit 2 pitches out of the park, whether or not one was a 2 run homer. That's still a 2-1 game. Gausman eventually adapted and overcame some of the difficulty and he got to a point where he fixed his approach to each at bat. Was it not great that he pitched game 1? Of course not, everyone knew that the Twins had his number. I still think it was one of the best games he's pitched against the Twins in his career, especially in a very high leverage game. However, he still had no run support. I don't need analytics to tell me that, this team can't hit good pitching. I also don't need it to tell me that majority of the players were putting in any effort to counteract that. Let alone the HITTING COACH OF ALL PEOPLE. its HIS job to make this team able to HIT THE BALL. ALL september long they couldnt hit against good/great pitching. What was the hitting coach doing this whole time? Sitting on his hands, expecting them to fix it themselves? The whole coaching staff needs to be fired. Except maybe Pete Walker because he has done some magical things with some pitchers but I still don't trust him in the dugout. Sid already gave a great opinion on Ross Atkins so I don't need to go there.
So new to this broadcaster. I am from the Maritimes. Huge Blue Jays fan. Agree with every comment he has made. As a fan I feel used and cry all means deflated.
when Rogers botched the AA situation I said I'd never watch the Jays again until They got serious. and I stopped until this year. I don't know why, especially since this team was so frustrating. I actually enjoy baseball but I may have to go back to ignoring this team until they can get serious. Maybe I'll just follow another team.
As someone who got their degree in physics, and also played baseball all the way through high school, you have to have a feel for the game to properly use analytics. People who rely only on numbers don't get the full picture, and any coach or staff who only uses their gut aren't getting the full picture. There's an emotional aspect to games that you have to consider no matter what the numbers say. The Bills shouldn't have returned two TDs on kickoffs last year after one of their players almost died on the field, Trea Turner shouldn't have been able to go on a streak after just getting cheers from the crowd, there's plenty of examples in sports where the human mind changes the situation of statistics where the numbers don't mean anything. This was one of those moments, analytics are still very useful and in 99 percent of cases throughout the regular season, this was the right call. The lack of awareness for human motivation is what made this a poor decision.
This might be the first time I have ever agreed with Sid, and not only do I agree with him, I agree with on every point he made. If Atkins is not fired, I will denounce myself as a Blue Jay's fan and I've been a lifer for 49 years.
Leafs haven't WON the Stanley Cup since 1967 and have won one playoff series in the last 7 years and still Leafs fans support their team. It is still more likely the Jays will win the World Series than the Leafs will win the Stanley Cup.

I seem to never agree with Sid. In this case, every single word I will agree with ( glad someone in media calling out Vlad fit the first base social club). The only thing Sid should have said is Vlad has to go. He will never change his immature attitude, and his bat is going to get worse, mark my words.
Unfulfilled potential. That's what I watched all season HOPING things would get better, and it never did. I knew they wouldn't even win this series, but I turned on the games anyway out of some personal duty I feel to this franchise, and got frustrated enough by the 4th inning that I turned it off. I thought that last year's crushing season exit was bad enough, looking at the faces of those players in the dugout as Seattle celebrated on OUR field, after they blew a 7 run lead. I thought that would be their wakeup call to recollect themselves, get focused, and put together a roster that could swing the bats and find reliable pitchers to close out games in convincing fashion. They went out and addressed what everyone knew were their shortcomings - leftie bats, faster base runners, and relief pitchers. The hype was real, and they had a decent roster on paper to start the season, and through sheer managerial incompetence and a lack of strong leadership to hold those men accountable, they never stood a chance. Top down clean out - send Atkins on his way, bring up James Click, and hire a new GM to provide them with some discipline and structure. John is a nice guy, a player's coach, but he cannot lay down the law, and it looks pretty obvious that many of his bizarre and ill-timed coaching decisions are ones that are not his own. This mess is not entirely on the players, this was just a poorly managed team that was too preoccupied with spreadsheets to put their roster in the best possible position to win.
I agree with everything except for Bo Bichette. The man is a leader and he did the right thing by trying to take home plate in that play. I didn’t see any balls dropped figuratively speaking or Bo. I agree 100% on Vlad Guerrero Junior that man needs to grow up.
It's easy to trash the team from the bleachers or on TV, he wouldn't trash them if he was actually working with them. If Sid thinks he knows so much then he should replace Atkins as the Jays GM next season.
Sid deserves a lotta props for saying what thousands of us are thinking. Shapiro & Atkins should go, but they're doing exactly what they said they'd do - make a "competitive" team. They're not trying to win anything, and they know Vlad & Bo aren't real leaders. Atkins actually had the gaul to say that he was doing fans a favour by not winning. If they're still there next year, I won't be.
This makes me wonder though what defines a bandwagon fan? Because if you're only a fan when things are going well doesn't that make you a bandwagon fan?
Jays fans are bandwagoners who will only support them when they are winning and will throw every player coach and management under the bus as soon as things go south.

very passionate and bang on the nose, you could see his hands shaking he was so fired up .. i dont always agree with Sid but this was spot on .. the Berrios pull sucked all the energy out of that team .. everyone just moped around in the dugout the rest of the game ... we need a leader that would have been up yelling at everyone to wake the hell up
Thank you to Mark, Ross and John bringing us to the playoff. I think the team needs to take a different direction to take more risk to bring this team to the championship level. John is still a rookie manager without playoff experience which we had witnessed for the past 2 years. We don't have much time before the window close again.
Mark Shapiro, Ross Atkins and John Schneider must be fired immediately. Shapiro and Atkins have done very little for this team since they got to Toronto. John Schneider has been making poor on-field decisions the whole time he has been Manager.
Well said Sid! Your comment about coming to spring training 'fit' also should apply to Kirk - he's an embarrassment! Vladdy is a self absorbed know it all (in his mind) and bats weren't good enough this year at all! I will say there was good defence from certain players - won't blame anyone for wanting to move on! So sad, so sad as there were such high hopes. I hope someone in upper management loses their job!
They deviated from what they've been so successful with all season - Starting Pitching. Why risk it when it's the most important game?!? Analytics said Kikuchi would be the best option to come in because they had 4-5 Left handed hitters coming up next. But that's when Kikuchi STARTS games. what analytics can't show is that they put Kikuchi in an uncomfortable spot by coming into relief. Starters are creatures of habit so this is definitely not on him. Yes, the offense didn't score so the point could be moot. I would of felt way better even if Berrios ended up giving up a run or two but kept him in for 6-7 innings. It could of changed the game with momentum....could of fired up the hitters. I'm sure many would say - "ya right!" but we never got that chance. I'm sure the hitters were just as confused as the fans/media.
Could have used that strategy in game 3 , if needed. I understand it, nice to have 4 starters, one being a lefty if needed. Key word, " if needed ". Just think, could have been 0-0 going into extra innings with Varsho standing on 2nd and the top of the lineup up .
@@johngawrylash7732 - Exactly. And it was a typical game for the Jays. They have a hard time scoring early in the game. I've seen it many times in the season when the starter keeps them in it and the batters would get to their bullpen and pull together a run or two. Not ideal, but that's been their game. I'm sure the momentum switched off once Kikuchi gave up the runs after Berrios left the best game he's thrown in 2 years....

Bravo! Well said!! I agree with everything said. So disappointing and frustrating. 😡 One thing he didn’t mention is Vladi being “lazy out of the box”. This drives me bananas and someone needs to tell him to be a professional and shape up. He hits the ball and, thinking it is a home run stands there and watches it. When it isn’t he ends up with a single, or is thrown out at second when he could have had an easy double. Such arrogance. We were always taught to run hard on any ball hit, and if we didn’t we were benched.

Twins and Berrios fan here. Jays have learned a hard lesson today. Analytics need to be mixed with real world experience. This sports caster was right on the money and in regard to the players also right on. Wow.
Thank you! Best of luck to the twins
I agree. Atkins needs to leave. Schneider is a joke. Jays are overweight. My gosh
Sid, truer words have never been spoken and I'm going to leave it there.
I miss Tim and Sid. This is a classic Sid rant. Also GET ANALYTICS OUT OF SPORTS!
Sid's the best
True words. Every. Single. One. Of. 'Em. Couldn't have said it better myself, Sid.
He went full vintage Tim and Sid here and I love it
Thank you for saying the absolute truth with passion !!!! This team was embarrassing and the decisions made were ridiculous. 9th inning and no guys in the dugout trying to talk to one another and amp eachother up !. Guerrero always talking on 1st base against the enemy in a huge game. These young guys are immature and do not concentrate were the exact words out of my mouth.
I don’t often agree with Sid and his rants, but I agree with the majority of this. It needed to be said.
Bang on Sid covering all the bases nothing to be thrown out.
It's easy to trash the team from the bleachers or on TV, he wouldn't trash them if he was actually working with them. If Sid thinks he knows so much then he should replace Atkins as the Jays GM next season.
@@arthurau9231 Oh stop it. Baseball isn't rocket science. We all sit and watch the same game from TV.? Have you got the guys doing the job or not. In the Jays case -not. This has been more than one season "sample size"
@@jackuzzi5251 Sid is all talk and no bite because if he was as knowledgeable in baseball as he thinks he is then he should be managing the Jays as their GM instead of trashing them on TV from the bleachers. After all I never hear Blue Jays reporters Hazel Mae or Jamie Campbell trash the team in the same way Sid does.
@@arthurau9231 Hazel and Jamie work for Sportsnet owned by Rogers who own the Jays. More people than Sid are criticizing the Jays.
@@jackuzzi5251 Scott Mitchell is a Blue Jay s reporter for TSN and he doesn't trash the Jays in the same way Sid does. Sid is a CLOWN because if he was as knowledgeable about the Jays as he thinks he does, then he should put his money where his clown mouth is and apply to be the next GM over Ross Atkins.
The funny thing was this was my first time watching the jays in years, I just finally came back to see this. I am out for at least 5 years now, possibly forever.
Love it. Tx for addressing things head on and not pulling any punches. What an absolute embarrassment of a post-season. Hopefully this ball club listens to people like you, Buck Martinez and Joe Siddall. Keep up the great work!
❤❤❤❤ now that's what had to be said n thank God you spoke the truth. It feels like something was going on and it was not for the good of the jays . Thanks you Sid thank you 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I’m all for moving on but, Alex Anthopolous was really a gem that Rogers should’ve done whatever to keep him.
Dude had the guts to win at all costs and his teams STILL reflect that. Wouldn’t be surprised if he ever wins another WS.
One of the best team builders in baseball. Huge mistake by the Jays to let him go.
Well said! Extra kudos for highlighting how well Berrios handled it. His attitude and class were exceptional.
Here here Sid. Well said.
It's easy to trash the team from the bleachers or on TV, he wouldn't trash them if he was actually working with them. If Sid thinks he knows so much then he should replace Atkins as the Jays GM next season.
@@arthurau9231probably why pete walker went to the dogout after berrios was pulled. He was pissed.
He’s such a good sport, complete team player, rooting for his team right until the end. Gentleman
I agree 100% Sid !!!
It's easy to trash the team from the bleachers or on TV, he wouldn't trash them if he was actually working with them. If Sid thinks he knows so much then he should replace Atkins as the Jays GM next season.
Well spoken!
Sid hit the nail on the head in every way.
His father needs to slap him around.
Correct; but the Jays' "Brain Trust" still believe that this lazy .260 hitter is a superstar.
Right on the money Sid!
Right on Sid! I FULLY agree with you. You hit all the 'balls' in your commentary. MLB is all about money and politics now. Thanks to BT for allowing you to communicate this! Excellent!!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Mr Sidney Sixcero!!!
I agree about Bo he improved tremendously. He does take risks but he only acts on impulse, like you said he wanted make something happen.
@@michellekelly5522 Yes and he's passionate about the game unlike Vladdy his actions show he could care less.
Spot on. I couldn't have said it better.
Jansen, the main catcher, was out with a hand injury so the team suffered with a less experienced and overworked catcher.
@rccyberwarrior2267 Not to be ignored....overweight.
I will be watching Arizona, particularly how Gabriel Moreno the dynamic catcher that GM Atkins gave away and Lourdes Gurriel play!
Excellent Pitching Berrios
So new to this broadcaster. I am from the Maritimes. Huge Blue Jays fan. Agree with every comment he has made. As a fan I feel used and cry all means deflated.
when Rogers botched the AA situation I said I'd never watch the Jays again until They got serious. and I stopped until this year. I don't know why, especially since this team was so frustrating. I actually enjoy baseball but I may have to go back to ignoring this team until they can get serious. Maybe I'll just follow another team.
That was a major league botch, by Rogers.
Jays taking Berrios out like that was a total Twins move.
Agree with you 100% but the Jays scored one run in two games. Would it have mattered?
❤❤❤❤Sid is RIGHT.
This might be the first time I have ever agreed with Sid, and not only do I agree with him, I agree with on every point he made. If Atkins is not fired, I will denounce myself as a Blue Jay's fan and I've been a lifer for 49 years.
Not sure why this would be the first time you're agreeing with him, Sid says it as it is... Unless that's not something you like hearing.
You don't work for the team so whatever you have to say don't matter.
Me, too.
Leafs haven't WON the Stanley Cup since 1967 and have won one playoff series in the last 7 years and still Leafs fans support their team. It is still more likely the Jays will win the World Series than the Leafs will win the Stanley Cup.
I'm sure many Leafs fans said the same as well and yet they still support them.
Good on ya for someone who knows and tells the way it is.
All he had to say was it's not the 92- 93 Jays roster. That team was elite with mature characters.
A different time, when our payroll was almost MLB's top.Amazing to think how, in 1993, they replaced Dave Winfield with Paul Molitor, and Jimmy Key with Dave Stewart.
@@lincolnmaceachern2410 Over the weekend I watched game 4 with the Alomar shot against Oakland ....what a game... when you watch it again you realize this team and organization pales in comparison to those early 90s Jays team
Tell it like it is Sid! Thank you
100% agree with you Sid.
It's easy to trash the team from the bleachers or on TV, he wouldn't trash them if he was actually working with them. If Sid thinks he knows so much then he should replace Atkins as the Jays GM next season.
Thanks for sharing Sid!
Berrios is exactly the kind of guy we want in Toronto
I can't argue. He's right on all points.
I seem to never agree with Sid. In this case, every single word I will agree with ( glad someone in media calling out Vlad fit the first base social club). The only thing Sid should have said is Vlad has to go. He will never change his immature attitude, and his bat is going to get worse, mark my words.
Totally agree with your point of view.
I agree with this rant and i believe analytics is ruining baseball just let people play the game
What else is there to say but Spot ON! Thanks Sid
So good to have Sid back analyzing sports. The best sports analyst in the World.
It's easy to trash the team from the bleachers or on TV, he wouldn't trash them if he was actually working with them. If Sid thinks he knows so much then he should replace Atkins as the Jays GM next season.
Love his honesty, bang on!
@@arthurau9231 Or you could be a Leafs fan and wait a hundred years before things change. They won't because pro sports is a business that just needs to see profits not wins. Fill the seats and your job is done.
@@arthurau9231 This makes me wonder, how a Team Owned Fan, or excuse me Employee defines a boot licker? Because if reality was allowed, you would not of asked the question in the first place, but since you did your job is complete. Now go get your cookie and pat on the head.
Preech on I agree with literally everything he’s said
The crazy celebrations for losing their way in just look horrible now! They should have battled harder to try and face Tampa. At the end of the day who cares about the Berrios decision as this team scored 1 run in 18 innings...hopefully Atkins gets the boot with Shneider.
I have never heard a better analysis of the Jays than this one. Sid’s passionate rant was , in my opinion, 100% correct !
Damn, I wish there were people surrounding our sports teams in MN (journalists, tv personas, etc) that would be this pubically critical when our teams screw up.
Jays fans have every right to be pissed about some questionable decisions made during this series. I got nothing against Toronto teams, hope the Blue Jays can make some changes in the offseason.
Sid you are right on with your comments. Well said.
Blue Jays should have kept Alex Anthopoulos. The Braves are better built.
very passionate and bang on the nose, you could see his hands shaking he was so fired up .. i dont always agree with Sid but this was spot on .. the Berrios pull sucked all the energy out of that team .. everyone just moped around in the dugout the rest of the game ... we need a leader that would have been up yelling at everyone to wake the hell up
thanks for saying what i was thinking all year sid
hats off to you sir
Sid needs to be back on a sports show
Hell no! He went on an LGBTQ woke rant how the NHL should fine Provonov on the Flyers for not wearing a pride jersey
Time for Sid and Tim part 2!
Hell no !! He may be right about this team, but he's been wrong about almost everything else . Sid's a Tool .
Being the sports voice on BT doesn't carry much credibility
Wow what a passionate critique. Coming from a great athlete yourself.
So you have to be an athlete to make comments about your favorite team? Frig off.
I agree full heartedly with Sid. I agree with EVERYTHING that he just said
I really appreciate Sids passionate sports rants. I don’t always agree politically I’m glad he gets time for this
God bless sid that was a speech a mamba mentality speech....I'm gonna go motherfucking work out now
Well said Sid!
Sid hit the nail on the head!
Blue Jays 2023 Payroll is (214 Million), and Baltimore Orioles 2023 Payroll is (71 Million)......What a difference????? Jays players are overpaid, have NO accountability and NO production!!!!!!!
Sid is saying what every single fan is thinking. Respect.
I’m so disappointed in that team I think you’re right Sid some big changes need to be made in that team next season I hope
One of the changes should be Sid replacing Atkins as the Jays GM.
It's easy to trash the team from the bleachers or on TV, he wouldn't trash them if he was actually working with them. If Sid thinks he knows so much then he should replace Atkins as the Jays GM next season.
Yeah that’s right it is easier for me to judge from that the bleachers but I’m not judged by the ability that I have to play baseball and nor do I make millions of dollars a year
I will never forget the 10 days of this
Bring back Tim and Sid!
Best rant I have seen Sid!
I'm not a fan of Sid, but he nailed this spot on.
100% right on what you are saying
I run in 2 playoff game losses this year
0 wins in last 7 post season games
Never should have let AA go .. just look at LA and Atl now
EXACTLY!! Remember when people wanted him fired? Where are those people now? I never wanted him gone. He knew how to run a team. Atkins and Shapiro are completely clueless. Racking up a huge salary with their roster, to just be swept in the wild card 3 times in a row? Yeah, not working lol
Sid Sixerio is awesome. He speaks for all of us.
Bravo! Well said!!
I agree with everything said. So disappointing and frustrating. 😡
One thing he didn’t mention is Vladi being “lazy out of the box”.
This is the Sid I grew up listening and watching. God I miss his sports rants
O's fans been suffering longer than Jays fans have as the last time Baltimore won the World Series was back in 1983 which is 10 years longer than the Jays. Imagine if the Jays like Baltimore had to wait 40 plus years between World Series wins, Jays fans might revolt against their own team and join another team's fanbase at that point.
