In a multiplayer game like Sea of Thieves, where progression is tied to cosmetics, its very important to have time limited items for events completed. For example, I've been playing since Day 1 so I have both the Day 1 Patch but all of the Hungering Deep set. Which makes me feel extremely accomplished, without that kind of limited items, it makes the cosmetics for those who gained them feel worthless. i.e the Megaldon Drum Re-release (Fuck you rare)

Tip for anyone who's going after the sunken curse with friends, only one person needs to have collected the journals and anyone else can just come along for the voyage. (I have tested this)
The ashen curse doesn't work the same way. I was the captain sailing with my brother and missed one single journal while my brother found them all. He got the curse while I had to run the tall tale again

Imo legendary curse should really make a comeback it being something so core to the lore of the game, like if it was just some random crab curse or something with no real meaning behind it other than just its description text id get keeping that exclusive, but the legendary curse? nah

For the sunken sorrow curse, as long as you’re with a person who has found all the journals and do the voyage with them you’ll get the curse too. My boyfriend and I found this out by mistake when we were planning on finishing my journals after his voyage and I was browsing through my vanity chest when I saw I had the curse too after we did his voyage. So side note, you don’t necessarily need to find the journals. If you’re with someone who’s done that already and you do the voyage with them you’ll get the curse too👍
@Tengen uzui yea, you can get all of them except the legend curse. You just have to complete TT 2, 11 and do the voyage that lets you unlock the sunken sorrow. OFC if you want the gold curse you have to essentially do 45 tall tales. 1-9 5 times and you have to read all the journals.
Legendary Curse is still obtainable, you just have to get level 105 in the Guardians of Fortune PvP faction and then it is buyable from the person who sells the cosmetics for Pirate Legends. (The guy in the back right corner of the tavern in Athena's Fortune)
I think the legendary curse should be unlocked for all players who reach 75 for 3 factions ive been pirate legend before seasons exsisted just did not play during season 1 so i did not get it thats just annoying
Let me clarify here too, 75 in 3 factions is far too easy. Needs to be locked behind a very grindy commendation, something like veil seeker, and make the 2nd requirement having reached 100 in ANY plunder pass, and you must be 30 Athena. I'd even opt for more requirements. It needs to be this way so the people that already have the curse won't feel like it will over saturate the game, and it gives the people that are actually SERIOUS about getting it a chance. I'd honestly do whatever it takes in game.
I actively use the gold curse and although it looks alright and shows my time and dedication to the game, my god was it so annoying and time consuming to get..
I'm still a little sad that I could've gotten the legendary curse when it was still there And knowing that I can't get it at all anymore even though I was pirate legend and had renown 100 back then
quick tip if you completed a talltale 100% you can just have your mate leave the game before completion granting them a final chapter checkpoint. Then have your friend join again and place down the talltale, you can complete it instantly again.
Definitely won't happen, but ain't it just nice to think about some cool Curse ideas? Like a curse which gives your characters a few patches of translucency to see the skeleton, or maybe even a curse similar to Davy Jones.

I really do hope they re-release the pl curse. I've played the game since launch, thousands of hours logged but during season one there were simply life events happening that made it impossible to play more than once or twice. I don't mind if they add it requiring a huge grind like the gold one, maybe they should re-add it and have the conditions either be level 30 Athenas or all Athenas commendations unlocked, hell even both and I'd be happy it was back!
You don't actually need to unlock every achievements for the sunken sorrow curse, just read the book at the end of the quest. I did all the stuff needed to access the quest so I could just give the curse away to my friends, which they got without even stepping foot in any other underwater temple.

Imagine people gatekeeping the legendary curse to the point that rare decided against keeping in the game. That's the kind of community this game has lmao no one is special for playing during season 1 and choosing to not grind day in and day out to get PL first thing. I didn't get PL until around 160 hours into this game because I wanted to enjoy the journey but I guess all these people want to feel special. (I did play in season 1 just didn't have more than 3 hours every couple of days back then, I had school and work but I guess I don't deserve glowing eyes LMAO) Great video though.
Videos like these are really helpful! You should consider making videos on how to unlock different items within shops and the best ways to get them. Or just other informational content is also very helpful!
I believe the legendary curse should look way cooler. I say ditch the logo thing on the chest and make small parts of the characters body like parts of the arm float like the ghost clothing does. It would make it so much cooler imo

They should make an alternative way to get gold curse but more difficult (depending on your skill) but less time consuming or just more pvp focused idk.
This is gonna sound insane, but hear me out. Give curses actual purpose. Ashen curse allows you to deal fire damage to players and non-player enemies and grants fire immunity from firebombs and fires aboard ships. As a debuff, if a player afflict with the curse, while swimming their bodies give off a steam aura while in the water. Gold hoarders curse grants more defense in the form of extra health(because...well...your covered in gold) and anyone afflict would have a "midus touch" ability, where any sellable loot turns to gold once picked up. You can sell this turned loot to HG(Gold Hoarders) but there is a catch, because the HG doesn't normally deal with skulls and merchant goods, these sell for more gold but less HG rep. An added side affect would be a slower swimming speed and well passively sinking due to, well, being made of gold! Order of souls curse, this curse allows you to summon up to three skeleton minions, if your in combat versus enemy AI or players, the minion AI is more accurate with their shots and take more hits, but there will be a cool down in between summonings, if you're on a sloop solo, these minions will man a harpoon, a cannon, and will automatically adjust the sale for optimal wind conditions. You can't summon skeletons in water, they'll immediately fall apart. The sunken sorrows curse, players afflicted with this curse or granted the ability to breathe underwater and definitely and swim up two times faster, also due to the nature of the curse if you're in water for too long you'll turn into a siren and start attacking your allies, you'll turn to normal upon being killed. I also thought of doing something similar as the order of souls with a ghost curse if we ever get one, and if there was a curse associated with Hunter's call, it would be to turn you into a half human half shark hybrid with the ability use your hand as a melee ,swim in water, and ram enemy ships and puncture their hauls, but such a technique would require a 5-minute cooldown. And in my opinion I would do all of these curses in stages, at first let's say grade 1, this curse is strictly cosmetic, but as you perform certain achievements and/or get certain commendations in the game the grade or severity of the curse becomes greater and greater until it becomes basically all the things that I talked about at this point. I know it sounds insane but it's just a thought 😁

Its a lame they didnt add the legendary curse again. I agree that some itens should remain exclusive for the players who own them. But I dont think that should be the case, since the curse is directly related to the lore of Athena's fortune. Dont get me wrong, I dont think that should be easy to get it, but makes no sense be a pirate legend with the gold curse or the order of souls curse if you are not dedicated to those factions
It has been said that the Legendary Curse will be making it's way back, as apparently anything in the pass that wasn't themed around the seasons theme would return ("Themed" counts as having the seasons theme in the name). Season One's theme was Shroud/Shroudbreaker, and so the Legendary Curse was not themed so I am quite sure it will make it's way back.
An interesting way that I believe they could allow for members to win/ unlock items such as the legendary curse that were available for a certain period of time would be to allow pirates to dual other pirates who have unlocked it. If you sink them or kill them in pvp while they have that cosmetic on, then you unlock the skin and the game notifies you that it has been unlocked.

Also, personally while I would've loved owning the legendary curse, I think it's pretty cool to have a curse exclusively for the real hard-asses out there that got legend and lvl100 in the first season. Let them have it. They clearly deserve some cool stuff for being this early and loyal to the game.
Agreed. I have a bias because i own it, but i vividly remember grinding my ass off in s1 to get to pirate legend. Amazing feeling and amazing reward! Love the exclusivity of the curse, and probably the most rare item i own..
@@piotr78 kinda what I was thinking. I played the game religiously for the first 2 years after release. Only to get bored of the content drought before the release of 'seasonal' content. Personally, I think removing content from any game is a poor choice. Making things time exclusive may increase their rarity, but someone on the dev team put hard work into cosmetics that are removed for whatever the reasoning. You developed it, make players work for it if you must, but don't just throw it away so that some players get to feel 'exclusive'.
Me a pirate Legend who has played since the beginning and has nearly every commendation since before shrouded ghost and didn't really play season one because he didn't know what it was feeling super sad
Not sure if anyone will read this but Rare should take a page from Epic Games and release the pirate legend skin again but with a different color. This way the day one members keep their day one skin and the new players get a chance at a cool skin.

This happened to a friend of mine, who reached Pirate Legend during Season 4 and was suddenly awarded the Athena's Might Cutlass from S2.
i got the curse, grinded really hard to get it. I dont mind seeing it coming back cause i hate exclusive stuff. But if they do, they better be bringing back other exclusive items from back in the day. Just like de ferry dlc skins...
They should allow the curse to give you some kind of abilities not gon lie like the curse would actually do but also give you some certain debuff with it
Funny enough, the legendary curse is the only one I have. The gold curse sounds like way too much grinding for me, and the others don't appeal to me enough to want to do the work for them.

5:06 why would people complain about this? Now I can’t ever get the curse because I wasn’t playing during season one. Got to pirate legend, and now I can’t even get every ghostly item for my pirate.
If you get a buddy to cancel the TT when you have acquired the last item he keeps that checkpoint. You can go to the hand in point and get him to put down the TT checkpoint and it will give you the item, he then leaves and you hand it in, this counts as a completion. He the rejoins and will still have the checkpoint so you repeat this and get another completion. This can be done for all TT's other than shore of gold.
Gold curse is easy clap if you just use 2 or more players to checkpoint spam each tall tale so u technically dont have to do them 5 times each. Still gonna take u a bit of work tho just not nearly as much. Also you'll wanna be using a walkthrough guide for each tall tale if that wasn't clear.
The only curse I have atm is the Ashen Curse. The others either seem like too much work or just don't look good enough for me. I am working on Sunken Sorrow at the moment I just keep ending up in servers with reaper sweats so it's hard to get the quest done. I want the Gold Curse but I get bored too fast and too easily so I know I'm not gonna be able to put enough in for the grind it takes.
If they do re add the legendary curse, I think it should be that if you have rank 50 in all trading companies and 20 in Athena's, it's purchaseable, but at a high price
I get the backlash about the legendary curse. And sure its a celebration of the hardwork and dedication from those early pirates. But as a somewhat new player who loves this game and grinds hard and am prob putting more hours in now that those guys did. I feel it still unfair. And how many of those guys no longer play or if they do very infrequently. Very elitest but thats how it is.
Doesn’t make sense to remove it when there’s only a handful of them and new players exist, just let new players grind the annoying requirements and it’s just green glowing eyes why make it time limited
Ah yes why make time limited cosmetics Why not bring back the black dog outfit or put the ferryman set in the shop, it's because they are time limited and that's the whole point of them, there will be better cosmetics in the future.
For the legend curse I think they do plan on bringing it back into the game by the guy that stands in the back of the taverns he has the same glowing eyes and says to come back to him when you are more prepared or something like that.
Haha Didn't expect to see me in this Video. I am still Disappointed the Devs have not reached a decision on circumstances to rerelease the Athena's Curse. It may be the unpopular opinion. But I hate that the Devs couldn't think of a better item to push for their Season 1 Pass. Sure Legends spent $10 dollars for this Pass. But plenty of Companies have retconned cosmetics. Example make the Athena's Curse purchasable via the Hideout. 4 million oughta suffice. Then make the commendation related to how many Athena Chest they've turned in AS Legends. I'd so 50 or so. THEN!! This is the important part, add Glowing Green Scars on the body with the Glowing Green Eyes. NO TATTOO on the chest, just Green scarring. So the two curses and differently unique. PLS Rare/SoT team... Do something to address this issue!!
I have Sunken Sorrow and Legendary, I don't think I have the patience for the Souls and no way I'll ever get the gold one. I don't actually wear them though because all my stuff is dark for easy tucking.
They also said they scraped the captaincy update in yr1 of the game and yet hear we are with the update for captaincy a lot of people my self included kinda got screwed with the s1 pass I hit level 97 three times in that pass because It failed to update the progress kinda like the Golden glory we can they have where you get a bunch of stuff you don’t get any rep for it I fully believe they will put in back in the game they really mucked it by making it a level 100 item why not make it a curse for idk the highest commendation and title for the Athena‘s fortune company

I'm not a big fan for limited time rewards like the plunder pass or seasonal rewards. It's a system that punishes you for not playing the game rather than reward you for playing it.
To be honest, i think that all battle pass items should never come back because thats just how i feel on them but with the legendary curse, it feels a little cheap, every other curse is out there able to get they should tie it to being a legend again. outside of the curse itself i dont really care to see anything else make a come back xD
Everyone keeps saying they should bring the pl curse and other exclusives back, but it's a really bad idea. It makes grinding for items in the future pointless. If you've been loyal enough to play from the beginning, you should be able to have your exclusive items. I've played since pre-release, and there's no reason why someone who downloaded the game 2 hours ago should be able to get those exclusive items. They didn't participate or earn them in any way. If you missed it, then you just missed it, that's the way life works. You can't show up at a movie theater halfway through a movie expecting everyone to be okay with starting the movie over for you. The game has been out for years, and even been on gamepass etc. so don't blame the older players for having things you can't get. We were here and we earned them, it's that simple. When someone sees my pl curse, I want them to know I got it from season 1, not yesterday. It's like when they re-released the day one eye of reach on day 1000. It made every single day one eye of reach completely worthless, because now all the new players were running around with them. All they're doing is robbing their most loyal and dedicated players of their achievements.
I don’t know which game started it, but I believe fortnite popularized it, it being giving games seasons with exclusive content that you can’t get if you just didn’t play the game in a 3 month span. And I hate it. I hate seasons in games. Like sorry the game was barren or broken or just unfun for 6 months and I didn’t play during that, but I still want the cool hat so let me beat some challenge so I can get that hat. I can understand promotional content like tf2 locking hats or something behind buying and playing another game on steam, because it’s a promotion and that other game won’t last forever, but seasons are awful in games. Imagine people gatekeeping the legendary curse to the point that rare decided against keeping in the game. That's the kind of community this game has lmao no one is special for playing during season 1 and choosing to not grind day in and day out to get PL first thing. I didn't get PL until around 160 hours into this game because I wanted to enjoy the journey but I guess all these people want to feel special. (I did play in season 1 just didn't have more than 3 hours every couple of days back then, I had school and work but I guess I don't deserve glowing eyes LMAO)

I believe the legendary curse should look way cooler. I say ditch the logo thing on the chest and make small parts of the characters body like parts of the arm float like the ghost clothing does. It would make it so much cooler imo

Went through the effort to get the gold curse just to be disappointed with it. The gold took me good eye!
If you’re upset with how it looks you can get a new player model by buying the potion in the emporium
They should make an alternative way to get gold curse but more difficult (depending on your skill) but less time consuming or just more pvp focused idk.
Or like a Reaper/ Flameheart curse of sorts for the PVP curse (IDK)

This is gonna sound insane, but hear me out.
Give curses actual purpose.
Ashen curse allows you to deal fire damage to players and non-player enemies and grants fire immunity from firebombs and fires aboard ships. As a debuff, if a player afflict with the curse, while swimming their bodies give off a steam aura while in the water.
Gold hoarders curse grants more defense in the form of extra health(because...well...your covered in gold) and anyone afflict would have a "midus touch" ability, where any sellable loot turns to gold once picked up. You can sell this turned loot to HG(Gold Hoarders) but there is a catch, because the HG doesn't normally deal with skulls and merchant goods, these sell for more gold but less HG rep. An added side affect would be a slower swimming speed and well passively sinking due to, well, being made of gold!
Order of souls curse, this curse allows you to summon up to three skeleton minions, if your in combat versus enemy AI or players, the minion AI is more accurate with their shots and take more hits, but there will be a cool down in between summonings, if you're on a sloop solo, these minions will man a harpoon, a cannon, and will automatically adjust the sale for optimal wind conditions. You can't summon skeletons in water, they'll immediately fall apart.
The sunken sorrows curse, players afflicted with this curse or granted the ability to breathe underwater and definitely and swim up two times faster, also due to the nature of the curse if you're in water for too long you'll turn into a siren and start attacking your allies, you'll turn to normal upon being killed.
I also thought of doing something similar as the order of souls with a ghost curse if we ever get one, and if there was a curse associated with Hunter's call, it would be to turn you into a half human half shark hybrid with the ability use your hand as a melee ,swim in water, and ram enemy ships and puncture their hauls, but such a technique would require a 5-minute cooldown.
And in my opinion I would do all of these curses in stages, at first let's say grade 1, this curse is strictly cosmetic, but as you perform certain achievements and/or get certain commendations in the game the grade or severity of the curse becomes greater and greater until it becomes basically all the things that I talked about at this point.
I know it sounds insane but it's just a thought 😁

Its a lame they didnt add the legendary curse again. I agree that some itens should remain exclusive for the players who own them. But I dont think that should be the case, since the curse is directly related to the lore of Athena's fortune. Dont get me wrong, I dont think that should be easy to get it, but makes no sense be a pirate legend with the gold curse or the order of souls curse if you are not dedicated to those factions

It has been said that the Legendary Curse will be making it's way back, as apparently anything in the pass that wasn't themed around the seasons theme would return ("Themed" counts as having the seasons theme in the name). Season One's theme was Shroud/Shroudbreaker, and so the Legendary Curse was not themed so I am quite sure it will make it's way back.

An interesting way that I believe they could allow for members to win/ unlock items such as the legendary curse that were available for a certain period of time would be to allow pirates to dual other pirates who have unlocked it. If you sink them or kill them in pvp while they have that cosmetic on, then you unlock the skin and the game notifies you that it has been unlocked.

Agreed. I have a bias because i own it, but i vividly remember grinding my ass off in s1 to get to pirate legend. Amazing feeling and amazing reward! Love the exclusivity of the curse, and probably the most rare item i own..
Season one wasn't early in the game! It was 3 years in.
@@piotr78 kinda what I was thinking. I played the game religiously for the first 2 years after release. Only to get bored of the content drought before the release of 'seasonal' content. Personally, I think removing content from any game is a poor choice. Making things time exclusive may increase their rarity, but someone on the dev team put hard work into cosmetics that are removed for whatever the reasoning. You developed it, make players work for it if you must, but don't just throw it away so that some players get to feel 'exclusive'.
Me a pirate Legend who has played since the beginning and has nearly every commendation since before shrouded ghost and didn't really play season one because he didn't know what it was feeling super sad

Not sure if anyone will read this but Rare should take a page from Epic Games and release the pirate legend skin again but with a different color. This way the day one members keep their day one skin and the new players get a chance at a cool skin.
The Legendary Curse could easily be up in Season 6 since they're adding to the Athena's Fortune.
Somehow I got it in season 4 despite missing it in season 1. I have no idea how, it just… popped up…
@@colonorum5840 If you achieved the appropriate Renown in any season, but weren't yet Pirate Legend at the time, appropriate rewards will be given to you once you reach Pirate Legend, regardless of what season it is. This happened to a friend of mine, who reached Pirate Legend during Season 4 and was suddenly awarded the Athena's Might Cutlass from S2.
They’re not adding it back rare have already said. All they’re doing is adding a new Athena voyage and ranking Athena to 30
i got the curse, grinded really hard to get it. I dont mind seeing it coming back cause i hate exclusive stuff. But if they do, they better be bringing back other exclusive items from back in the day. Just like de ferry dlc skins...

Funny enough, the legendary curse is the only one I have. The gold curse sounds like way too much grinding for me, and the others don't appeal to me enough to want to do the work for them.

If you get a buddy to cancel the TT when you have acquired the last item he keeps that checkpoint. You can go to the hand in point and get him to put down the TT checkpoint and it will give you the item, he then leaves and you hand it in, this counts as a completion. He the rejoins and will still have the checkpoint so you repeat this and get another completion. This can be done for all TT's other than shore of gold.

Gold curse is easy clap if you just use 2 or more players to checkpoint spam each tall tale so u technically dont have to do them 5 times each.
Still gonna take u a bit of work tho just not nearly as much. Also you'll wanna be using a walkthrough guide for each tall tale if that wasn't clear.
The only curse I have atm is the Ashen Curse. The others either seem like too much work or just don't look good enough for me. I am working on Sunken Sorrow at the moment I just keep ending up in servers with reaper sweats so it's hard to get the quest done. I want the Gold Curse but I get bored too fast and too easily so I know I'm not gonna be able to put enough in for the grind it takes.

I get the backlash about the legendary curse. And sure its a celebration of the hardwork and dedication from those early pirates. But as a somewhat new player who loves this game and grinds hard and am prob putting more hours in now that those guys did. I feel it still unfair. And how many of those guys no longer play or if they do very infrequently. Very elitest but thats how it is.
Doesn’t make sense to remove it when there’s only a handful of them and new players exist, just let new players grind the annoying requirements and it’s just green glowing eyes why make it time limited

For the legend curse I think they do plan on bringing it back into the game by the guy that stands in the back of the taverns he has the same glowing eyes and says to come back to him when you are more prepared or something like that.

Haha Didn't expect to see me in this Video. I am still Disappointed the Devs have not reached a decision on circumstances to rerelease the Athena's Curse. It may be the unpopular opinion. But I hate that the Devs couldn't think of a better item to push for their Season 1 Pass. Sure Legends spent $10 dollars for this Pass. But plenty of Companies have retconned cosmetics. Example make the Athena's Curse purchasable via the Hideout. 4 million oughta suffice. Then make the commendation related to how many Athena Chest they've turned in AS Legends. I'd so 50 or so. THEN!! This is the important part, add Glowing Green Scars on the body with the Glowing Green Eyes. NO TATTOO on the chest, just Green scarring. So the two curses and differently unique. PLS Rare/SoT team... Do something to address this issue!!
I have Sunken Sorrow and Legendary, I don't think I have the patience for the Souls and no way I'll ever get the gold one. I don't actually wear them though because all my stuff is dark for easy tucking.

They also said they scraped the captaincy update in yr1 of the game and yet hear we are with the update for captaincy a lot of people my self included kinda got screwed with the s1 pass I hit level 97 three times in that pass because It failed to update the progress kinda like the Golden glory we can they have where you get a bunch of stuff you don’t get any rep for it I fully believe they will put in back in the game they really mucked it by making it a level 100 item why not make it a curse for idk the highest commendation and title for the Athena‘s fortune company
There’s also the 6th curse, merchant alliance, they all have poor eyesight and need glasses

I'm not a big fan for limited time rewards like the plunder pass or seasonal rewards. It's a system that punishes you for not playing the game rather than reward you for playing it.

To be honest, i think that all battle pass items should never come back because thats just how i feel on them but with the legendary curse, it feels a little cheap, every other curse is out there able to get they should tie it to being a legend again. outside of the curse itself i dont really care to see anything else make a come back xD

Everyone keeps saying they should bring the pl curse and other exclusives back, but it's a really bad idea. It makes grinding for items in the future pointless. If you've been loyal enough to play from the beginning, you should be able to have your exclusive items. I've played since pre-release, and there's no reason why someone who downloaded the game 2 hours ago should be able to get those exclusive items. They didn't participate or earn them in any way. If you missed it, then you just missed it, that's the way life works. You can't show up at a movie theater halfway through a movie expecting everyone to be okay with starting the movie over for you. The game has been out for years, and even been on gamepass etc. so don't blame the older players for having things you can't get. We were here and we earned them, it's that simple. When someone sees my pl curse, I want them to know I got it from season 1, not yesterday. It's like when they re-released the day one eye of reach on day 1000. It made every single day one eye of reach completely worthless, because now all the new players were running around with them. All they're doing is robbing their most loyal and dedicated players of their achievements.

I don’t know which game started it, but I believe fortnite popularized it, it being giving games seasons with exclusive content that you can’t get if you just didn’t play the game in a 3 month span. And I hate it. I hate seasons in games. Like sorry the game was barren or broken or just unfun for 6 months and I didn’t play during that, but I still want the cool hat so let me beat some challenge so I can get that hat. I can understand promotional content like tf2 locking hats or something behind buying and playing another game on steam, because it’s a promotion and that other game won’t last forever, but seasons are awful in games. Just make amazing cosmetic content and then lock it because I didn’t play between March 12th 2021 and may 6th 2021, amazing, woo
