Unstoppable, Unbeatable or Undroppable - which would you choose?
XT
🤣🤣🤣@@ThunderStruckMTB
XTR?@@ThunderStruckMTB
Nah, that R costs money and is meant for racing.@@bikeradar
I prefer Unaffordable.
I built up a GRX gravel bike last month and was impressed by the ride. I'm 75 years old, by the way. Then I decided to go for a spin on m y '91 Ritchey Ascent Comp. Full XT. Is the gravel bike any better than the 30 year old Ritchey? Not really. I love Shimano but somebody needs to get them to calm down. All this innovation....it's about marketing, not performance.
Where are the ethics?
Or is it all about the money?
I'm waiting for a 12 speed di2 GRX groupset. Don't know why they haven't released one yet.
2 yrs behind sram.. Unbelievable
There's a split market - many gravel riders want mechanical shifting for simplicity and reliability.
Given gravel is the fastest growing market, I suspect Shimano are working on the basis of capturing the (slightly) more affordable part of the market to capture the audience.
That's been their strategy in the past.
If they released GRX di2 with a 10-51t range everyone would then expect MTB di2 for non-ebikes too. Perhaps they will be released at the same time. Just like how 12 speed mechanical 105 was released alongside mechanical 12-speed GRX etc.
Shimano told me that over 70% of gravel groupset sales are mechanical, so I guess I see their logic. Plus when they led with Di2 for 105, we all shouted at them for not having mechanical 😂 Liam
The fact it’s mechanical is what sold it to me. Electric gears suck…
What this group said be considered a high-end gravel group set? what would be considered a mid-level or entry level group set for gravel?
What dt swiss converter does it need for slx/xt 10-51 D cassette?
Man I love this. I'm already running full grx11 and I've just bought the 822 rd. Not sure if I'll go full upgrade or just just it to run a 11-51
What's your cleats shoes you were wearing during the vlog?
Sounds like the ticket for me. If you want even further range add the eThirteen mtb cassette. It’s 9-52T!!! Wow. It requires a different hub body though and the cassette alone is $350 (I think). And you might have to add a derailleur hanger extension.
I'm having trouble finding gravel wheels that are compatible with the Microspline driver. What am I missing here?
Look for DT Swiss hubs. Or OEM that use DT internals.
Hi I'm just a newb when it comes to bikes, but I'm wondering if you can just put an 11-51 11 speed cassette onto the old GRX 810s or if you need to change out other components if I were to change to a 11-51 cassette
It’s 10-51 and u need the micro splin hub drive
You can use a 11-51 with grx 822 rd and leave everything else the same
It's about time! Finally, Shimano has made a mechanical dropbar shifter for a wide range 1x (500% or more range, 10-51) cassette. Why did this take so long? Sram will follow soon!
I did not wait - simply changed 11-42 cassette to 11-51t last year in my RX-812 and works well.
@@chriskros885811 gears? What make? Same dereilleur?
Any flat bar options with 11-51 1 BY?
@@elachichai Yes 11 gears, I am riding in mountain region so I must have 40/51t gearing. Originally GRX 812 comes with 11-42t casette - it was too hard for long uphils on my gravel bike and lagguage so I changed for another.
@@chriskros8858 Yes. A strong reason to choose gravel bike over road bike even when riding only on road - is the lower gearing! Hope these are all customizable at purchase time!
What i wanna see is microshift sword!
Pull ratio compatible? Which RD can it pull? RX812? M8120?
Same as 11s
They don't rival SRAM. Sram already introduced (although I can't find it for sale) a mechanical 12 speed. It can work in a mullet setup to use with up to a 10-52 or their gravel with 10-44. And you know this. You covered it on June 15.
Holy molly that naming scheme is stupid. I hope they will finally offer grx cranks in shorter crank lengths at least 160mm.
Yea we started cringing a month ago and haven't stopped
Lol the updates on the brakes.. changing fasteners from hex bolt and flathead screw to Allen key as a highlight? What is this, the 1930s?
I'm also frustrated that the derailleur is basically a MTB model, however GRX does not have MTB compatible pull ratios.
That plus the shift to microspline. The bike industry has really decended into a web of incompatible standards.
Overall, cool that the gear ranges are slightly expanded. This generation seems like a mild iteration, nothing groundbreaking.
SRAM should not be worried. They took far too long to bring out 12 speed GRX and road. Too expensive for mechanical and you’ll run into issues switching certain wheels to microspline. This morning I purchased Rival AXS shifters and brakes, Eagle GX AXS, 10-50 cassette and a Rival crankset for £850! I had to shop around for sales and buy things separate. Currently this SRAM Mullet build is cheaper and available compared to GRX 12 speed.
you seem cold
Will there be a 2x12 speed GRX (2.0)?
2:42 looks like the Undroppable setup in 2x
@@darthjohn0 ty. I typed that while watching the beginning and then saw it right after.
Really wish we'd been able to get all 3 versions of GRX in for review as it can get quite confusing. Hopefully we'll have Undroppable and Unbeatable in soon.
"Cringy"? Those "cringy" names for the groupsets are great! They intuatively describe the cassette sizing for each groupset.. Come to real gravel country.. Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah.. and get some sun on your skin and insight into avid gravel riders' thinking.
If you build a SRAM mullet with a ratio 12 speed conversion kit and a GX eagle derailleur and, say, a force 1x crankset, it would be much cheaper. Or you could combine the apex derailleur and shifters with a lighter crank and still have a cheaper option. A SRAM AXS mullet setup still is cheaper and lighter. Why is this good value for money??
No power meter. Oh no! Me totally not being sarcastic.
Oh no! Anyways...
Is that poop? 1:00
GRX power meter?🤦🤣
the best mechanical 12 speed gravel groupset? lol, how about the only one.
Aren’t the SRAM Eagle mechanical 12 speed?
@@stephenitano8806 they are technically MTB and not gravel, except maybe apex
I’m not sure how you’re glossing over SRAM Apex 1x12 or Campy Ekar 1x13 as though they weren’t there first.
This new GRX group is overpriced nonsense. I converted my GRX 812 2x11 from 11-32 to 11-42 with an SLX cassette. I have the RD GRX 812 rear derailleur with a medium cage. At the front I have a gradation from 31 to 48. The Wolftooth adapter for the rear derailleur and the cassette including chain only cost me €110. And it works perfectly. This combination is unbeatable, especially when traveling up mountains with luggage. It's just another scam to make money again, nothing else. And with a little skill, the new GRX shifter also works with an XT, SLX or Deore M 6100 12-speed rear derailleur.
I run the 810 GRX 2x 31/48 up front with an 11-40 XT cassette at the back. The 810 rear mech works fine by itself and no Wolftooth is required. Just can make enough adjustment with the B screw and also use a longer chain. Been running it like this for 2 years. Shifts perfectly and no problems at all.
this fork is the ugliest known to me...
..or Icelandic finesse engineering
Why would I buy this over SRAM?
Some prefers one over the other and no one is forced to buy either.
HG+ shifting and potentially better shifter ergonomics
Compromised cognitive function due to excessive alcohol consumption would be one reason 🙃
I rode the sram rival system.. crappy brakes in that particular groupset, but it shifted very smoothly on its more limiting 11 to 42 11 speed cassette.. Just sayin'
What a lazy update.
I'll stick with Ekar but thanks anyway.
Oh look, a 12 speed with the same range as a 8-9 speed and no mechanical brake option. :) Thank you Shimano for showing a very aero middle finger to non dentists.
Don't think there's much aero about this... 🤷♂️
Would never buy it with such stupid names. I'll stick with SRAM.
Yeah Shimano GRX is a stupid name 😃
I love the groupset names ..intuative naming referring to the size cassette in each groupset... unstoppable, unbeatable and undroppable. i like the names as do many i have asked here in Colorado, Kansas, Wyoming area.,. real gravel country..
