  • Last year I shared some new years intentions (not quite goals or resolutions, but just things I'm trying to focus more on), and I wanted to revisit them to see how well we did throughout the year. I also am looking forward to this new year with anticipation of adding several more areas of life that I wanted to focus on too!

I just discovered your channel and just the couple videos I’ve watched have been SO helpful 🥲 We just started homeschooling 4 months ago. I feel like I am grasping now what is working for our boys and what isn’t.
It was so validating to hear your goals and reflecting on your previous year! I did a lot of decluttering too. But now that I am 29 weeks pregnant, it has been hard to keep up with a lot of housework so I am trying to remember that I am not operating at full strength capacity while I am growing a baby!
Our nighttime scriptures were a big fail last year, too. I think by the end of the day I am just so burned out and tired! I wish our bedtime routine was more fulfilling. Sometimes it’s a miracle that all the kids brush their teeth before bed 🥴 But we do try to do a prayer and a lullaby/ song every night.
Upon homeschooling we switched out scripture reading to the morning before homeschooling starts, just 5 min devotional, and that has been so much better to start off our day with that.
I really, really need to focus on getting one-on-one time with each kid this year. Even just 10 minutes a day, every other day would be so good to fill their cup. My seven year old son REALLY needs it. He behaves so much better when he gets that time with me. It looks different for each child, too. For my 3 yo daughter, we play in her dollhouse or with her toys, or read books together in a rocking chair. For my 5 & 9 yo sons, it’s watching them build something STEM related or listening to them tell me a story they made up or hearing about their favorite things. I told my husband that is my big goal this year. I know I will be so busy with a new baby but I can’t let my other kids fall through the cracks emotionally even though I am taking care of their physical needs.

Thank you for sharing! I have the same goal: 1:1 time with each child. I‘ll reserve some time in the late afternoon and rotate between the children. My oldest is 12 but he still needs to be seen and heard. With little ones needing so much attention, I don’t want him to fall through the cracks.

I do UA-cam workouts with my kids every morning!!! It’s so good for all of us :) We like that postpartum channel too they have lots of kids videos as well. Also PE with Mr G and lots of kids yoga and beginner strength 10 min classes. Such a smart idea!

Thank you for sharing. As a single-parent homeschool director, this gives me a lot of encouragement. As you know, my boys are in middle school and high school so they have a lot more activities scheduled that I do not have to be at, but I really need to be more intentional on their diets and activity. Also, being realistic as to what our daily schedule looks like. I am the sole provider and still have to work as I get no other financial support so it is a hard thing to balance, but we are figuring it out together. I would love to collaborate sometime.

Please pray for us. We have been in a serious car accident on Christmas Day night. My husband Kenny is having debilitating headaches and is in brain surgery today (shunt). I broke my back in two places and have to step away from homeschooling for the next season.
