Yes photoreal VFX is easy when using high quality assets that someone else made and a photo that covers 90% of the final image ;) Having that said about the clickbaity title and thumbnail it's still a good tutorial for integrating objects into a photo!
Actually you do need it because the texture can still cause bounce light. If the material was white then the light would bounce off of the white plane and the camera would have white highlights at the bottom. Also it helps with getting reflections of the real world on the object. Setting it as shadow catcher basically puts the object as indirect only but still allows shadow to be shown so you still have to treat it as an indirect object that affects others in the scene
Because it's always important to have the correct scale for objects. This is mainly because accurate lighting and depth. The field would be affected and it's always better to scale up the camera instead of an object.

Greetings from Brasil. Incredible video. Very handy and easy to follow. Thanks a lot.
Instead of adding empty you can select 3d cursor to be scaling center 😎
Didn’t know that I’ll try it out!
If you have used a shaddow catcher there is no need for that complicated texter for the base plane

why we create empty & parent camera because we can direct 3d model select and scale it

If we can scale the object directly, would there have been problems with depth and lighting?
