Since before I’m sure lol. Nah but I agree. He’s had the skills and experience and now the resources and freedom to do stuff he enjoys. Pretty awesome addition. edit: I also love how he and Peter are proponents of Blender.
Passion about a project makes a better product than throwing large amounts of money at it for the sole purpose of advertising your streaming platform and not caring about the audience, like Paramount.
You have to remember that for this they ripped the game assets, used tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment like the mo-cap suit, and their computers used for the render farm. And Nuke is a really expensive piece of software, at around 4 thousand dollars a year to get a license. Now, this isn't to take away from the passion. Passion will always lend itself to a better product in the end and their final product looks hella cool. And I am sure you could get stuff like this done for way cheaper, I have seen that. But there's still money backing up this production, even Niko says at the end that this can only happen if they get enough financial support through the website. So, while it's important to always have passion, it's also important to not vilify money in the process, as money is still what makes a lot of things possible.

Hello, I’m a part of November Black Productions. We are real life Spartans and ODSTs. We are just wrapping up our first reveal of the suits used in our short film. We’ll be sending you all what we are working on. Cheers!
Almost nothing out of the big studios over the last 5 years (maybe even decade) has made me feel anything other then the urge to pick up a book because it's the only way I will be entertained by something resembling a good story and characters. On the up side, there have been some killer indy/low budget movies to enjoy as a result.
I dont think ive ever wanted a fan project to succeed so much in my life. THIS is what halo has always needed and needs now more than ever. ODST's being at the forefront is the cherry on top for me.
Fan Films like this inspires people who haven't ever played Halo (or other fan-films in other franchises) to get interested in great stories. Quality work like this NEEDS to be made because it directs the companies who own the rights to these franchises to see what the fans actually want. It's direct market feedback at its finest. PLEASE MAKE THE FULL VERSION!
As someone who saw the rise of Halo, but never played any of the games, I have an immense respect for the franchise. All the music, all the fan-made projects both physical and digital, so much stuff over the years! I've been with Playstation from the beginning, but there's been many times I wished I had an Xbox instead. Still kinda do, actually. The fan made stuff is mostly my favorite. Plus, that iconic music always gets me hyped despite not having played the games.
Looks AMAZING! Almost no-one in CGI films goes for photo realism, to truly feel REAL, & you SMASHED IT. I would DEFINITELY watch a full movie if you made it that realistic & immersive, & would tell all my friends it's a MUST SEE! Please keep at it, there is a huge hole in the market for convincing CGI movies!
That way of thinking is scarily stupid. These guys made a VFX of 1 minute. + some extra cuts that was not added perhaps. They did not make 500 minutes. They did not do marketing. They did not hire a crew. So stop comparing. It's just childish.
13:30 Niko's "yeah!" sounded so defeated lol It's probably an extreme financial risk they are taking doing a full episode with that quality. Will be very interesting to see what they can do in the next 12 months. Good luck and let's all hope those Puget PCs render out all these beautiful scenes as quickly as possible 🙏
The moment I heard "My Motion Tracker reads Friendly Movement" in a base that looks abandoned I knew immidiately. The reveal of the Flood was very well done. I actually got chills waiting for the buildup to the reveal.
I loved it. The dirtied frame reminded me of Reeve's The Batman. One note I will give is to make the ODSTs visually distinctive, just for our benefit as the audience, since we can't see their faces. Great work, so cool to see that this is the kind of thing you guys can put together in your spare time. Hope you get all the time and money you need to make an awesome project!
I think that's a really good note, and furthermore in a finished product it would be nice to have a little more subtle motion of the head to coincide with the dialog being spoken. Even if characters are visually distinct, when more than one is on screen it's difficult to clock which is speaking when the heads are all static. I absolutely get that in something like this trailer that's asking far too much, and they really did some amazing work here. Just in a final product it will make a huge difference to the viewing experience. I wish them all the best in this project and can't wait to see the result!
Yeah that's one thing that H3: ODST did really right from a character design perspective. While the whole cast all had the same baseline suit as a starting point to give them cohesion as a unified group, each ODST had different colored trim on their plating, extra dongles that broke up their silhouette in distinct ways, equipment strapped to their bodies that made them visually distinct from each other, and even a nameplate stamped across their chest armor if all else failed to be enough. You could look at that cast and say "Yeah, that one's Romeo, that one's Dutch, and that's the Rookie" just by looking at their accessories but you could also look at the whole group shot and say "Yeah, these guys are ODSTs." A lot of people also knock H3:ODST's animations for being "goofy" and "overacted" - and I won't really dispute that - because of how exaggerated every look, head-tilt, shrug, etc. is. But a large part of that is really trying to convey *who* is talking during cutscenes. A lot of the shots have them wearing their helmets, so it's not visually obvious who would be speaking when their face is covered, but Bungie made sure that any conversation that was full-helmeted was accompanied by very obvious body language as well so it's *very* clear who is talking at any given point in time.
That project is still going, right? I often see WIP clips. Don't watch them because I don't want to spoil myself when it's finally done. I'm a fan of their work.
They technically can't without the vid potentially getting a copyright strike based on intellectual property. They can get away with it in a long form video such as this because the actual footage depicting Halo characters and stories is less than 10% of the total run time of the vid.

Myself and a small group are working on a live action ODST short film. Myself and another artist have created 4 ODST armor kits from urethane rubber (stunt suits). We would absolutely love to work on something with the legendary Corridor crew!
This might be my favorite Corridor Crew video ever. Everything about it was so good, not only the incredible trailer. The script, editing, concept, explanations. Absolute gem
I've always known about Corridor Digitals website and the ability to greenlight what they should work on. Much respect to Son of a Dungeon but this may be the first time I actually sign up and fund a project. That trailer got me so hyped for the future, I wanna go back and play ODST now! Good job Fenner and Jonah!
Bruh this is miles better than anything the TV show had. Amazing what passion for a project has on the end result. I really, really, reeeeally hope you guys get to make more of this!
Watching this video gives me an idea. Every vfx company should schedule at least 30-45 minutes per day for their employees to have "play time", during which they can use company assets to produce stuff they can pitch to the company.
This was absolutely amazing! Any time Fenner gets to make a video, it's an absolute gift blast to watch. Fenner, Jordan and Jonah are such amazing additions to the Corridor Family!
@@BlueTeam-John-Fred-Linda-Kelly I strongly disagree their is lots of cool elements in the show. Hopefully they keep making it. I understand maybe it's not the halo show you hoped for but to say it's that bad is ridiculous and you are not trying to look for any positives at all.

This echoes so well to what the crew said on the last "animators react" about fan films. Fan films aren't made by dudes in their bedroom, some are made by professionnals and this one is definitely amazingly done !
When I saw that trailer, I compleyely forgot this was a corridor video... Great props for the quality of work here. I pray this will become a thing. Itll outshine anything majoy studios put out nowadays by a long shot
Unreal 10/10. I would pay to watch this as a full movie in a cinema, probably more than once! Your trailer shows more care, and thought than the multi millions that has been used to destroy Halo in the TV show! Congrats guys hope this becomes a thing!
That trailer has got to be one of the most dope pro level vfx/cgi things I've ever seen coming from Corridor. Fenner is an absolute beast! I could not get over those film effects ontop of the rendering, like how? PLEASE have funner dive into nuke on a functional filmmaking episode
It’s become clear that the only hope for a decent halo cinema is going to come from extremely talented fans like you guys. I’m already way more invested in this trailer than I ever was for the official show.
What the halo show missed completely were 2 simple things. 1. Respect to the past and source material for a loved franchise 2. Passionate creativity You had both here. I will always support material like this.
I been on the edge of getting the CD web sub for awhile and you know what, this pushed me to finally do it so I can see all the awesome stuff there. Year sub has been completed. Fenner get your Halo on you glorious bastard!
Awh man, this is exactly the kind of thing i love to see you guys do, feels like true Corridor ya know? I've been watching you for around 13 years and Ngl i kinda fell off corridor for the past year or so, haven't been subbed to the website for a while. But THIS, really reminded me of why I started watching you guys in the first place ~ seeing a few guys work hard to hone their craft to make something they're really passionate about. Can't wait to see where this goes/watch how it develops.
I really hope this short film is still happening. I remember first seeing this video and being so excited and happy to have someone who is actually so passionate about the halo universe and lore.
You've given me hope and my halo geek nerves are going like crazy! Please, please, PLEEEASE make this happen guys! I'm definitely following you and I'll try to donate money to see our beloved Halo franchise recover
as a massive halo fan, any halo animation makes me so happy - since the rvb days - and this super high quality movement of them but it still has the charm of them being bulky walking tanks
This was an absolutely amazing trailer. Well done! The theme music coming on in the pelican shot was perfect. It gave me serious chills. I don't just want this to stay as a trailer. Please make the film a reality.
Watching what they already have, gave me chills, and made me feel like I was watching a continuation of previously done fan film, ads, etc. Not the current TV show. I was hit so hard with nostalgia, excitement, and wonder. As if i was back in the halo universe again. Seeing this makes me happy and hopeful. Maybe the TV producers will reach out to you guys and see what really needs to happen to make a good Halo..... anything! Movie, TV show, mini series, etc. Thank you, I'm about to cry after seeing that. Thank you.
2 VFX bois made a trailer that directly competes with basically any multimillion-dollar trailer that has come out recently. This shows the power one holds when they deeply care about what they do, and we need more of this in the digital industries. Excellent job!
Sam and Niko have been bringing on some of the most talented artists in the vfx game, and what I love the most is each brings a different perspective in the world of vfx and CG. I've learned so many different things from each of the crew, from the equipment, to the software, and the whole filmmaking process. I'm extremely elated for stumbling onto their channel and webpage. It's because of their format and awesome crew that I continue to tune in every chance I get and is my usual go to when I'm looking to learn new stuff. Thank you guys, and LET'S GO FENNAHHH!!!
God yes finally someone else says they loved odst. I would love a band of brothers style show for odst that would be cool af. I am all for this and I can't wait till yall produce this and hopefully you make a long running thing out of it. This is something the community needs right now.
I didn't realize it at the time, but I also loved ODST as well, for many of the same reasons. no specific flagship characters, no destroying entire covenant cruisers or anything, just an ODST that has to find and fight his way back to his team, one way or another. also funny story. I played ODST a couple years ago with my brother, and as we were in that one underground segment with all the brutes, my split screen glitched and it was showing green outlines of my brother's screen on mine on and off. The 3D effect applied, so if something was outlined towards the side or further forwards, it would be hidden behind my own environment. My brother was pretty far ahead because he was mainly taking out big threats and progressing as I cleaned up after him with the less threatening enemies. at one point, I was focused on my screen, so I wasn't paying attention to his. Within about a second, my screen did the glitch, and at that exact moment, my brother was rushing up to a brute that was facing him, and let me tell you, seeing a ghostly green brute face suddenly appear right in front of you and rush towards you is both terrifying and (afterwards) hilarious.
ODST was the first halo I ever played and I was terrified of it. Then years later, I suddenly realized it was absolutely the best storytelling halo game that I've played.
Lads that is insanely good, the fact it was done with just two of you proves how good and passionate you are on this. Would be amazing to see what you could do with the crew at your back with the things they are brilliant at too.
Wow. I have... no words. I feel like Fenner is an easily overlooked member of the team, but.... wow. This was amazing. Keep him!!!!! Never let him go!!!
This is the quality that fans needed, and I can't wait to see you guys pull it off. That Pelican shot in the smoky rubble... *chef's kiss*. I may not be able to support it on the website, but I'd be more than happy to give it an epic music score!
This really could be some of the best work you guys have ever put out. The trailer alone blew me away (unintentional Halo reference), I can’t wait to see the finished project!
I prefer motion capture than just animating the entire thing for a few reasons. 1, it’s much easier, faster, and efficient. 2, it makes the body language of the characters feel more natural and organic
Awesome awesome job! This actually looks sick, and if THIS was a show, i'd be glued to it. The only thing perhaps would be physical props so the hand spinning the barrel at 10:10 would meet heavy resistance to show and tell how big and heavy this equipment is. That could be a really impactful wide shot in telling the story of "regular grunts", which is an angle i 100% love you for choosing. i LOVE this, PLEASE make more
Nice. Let me help your crew with the singing however. And lose the slide whistle.
Thank you for the soul of one of my favourite game series.

Honestly, their clip wasn’t at the same spot as Blur Studios, in Blur Studios animation you could see Thel Vadam Lizard skin being reflecting by the golden Sun! on Corridors clip the only skin that was visible was someones real Skin, so there where no real Skin animated here
@@SPARTAN.JEROME-092 of course It's not, it's just a little project of a youtube channel and not a profesional studio with a budget, the mere fact that you can compare it to blur studios tells you how talented people at corridor crew are.
@Jerome 092 the Spartan-II it wasn't but the style looked similar to the anniversary cut scenes. May not be same quality but it looked similar. This "trailer" looked fucking great
Those got me in tears back in the day. When they recall fighting with the chief
Would love a feature length film and would go to the cinema for this
The creation of the Spartan and first contact would be epic
Myself and a small group are working on a live action ODST short film. Myself and another artist have created 4 ODST armor kits from urethane rubber (stunt suits). We would absolutely love to work on something with the legendary Corridor crew!
We all in here thinking alike
Hope this happens.
It’s been 3 months we still want this corridor DONT FORGET we want this STILL ❤️
ODST was such a nice break from the Halo Series. it has so much potential.
Passion is all there is. No passion, no love. No love, no fun. No fun, no movie.
Watching this video gives me an idea. Every vfx company should schedule at least 30-45 minutes per day for their employees to have "play time", during which they can use company assets to produce stuff they can pitch to the company.
This looks insane, if Marty gets involved with the project as well then this could be an absolutely incredible work of art once it's done.
This was absolutely amazing! Any time Fenner gets to make a video, it's an absolute gift blast to watch. Fenner, Jordan and Jonah are such amazing additions to the Corridor Family!
Wow, seeing Corridor do actual game films again would so, so refreshing.
what would indeed be level-up again
The ODST vibe definitely got me excited, reminded me of the actual ODST Halo game. The moodiness and film noir feel. Great job guys!
I got literal chills down my spine watching that trailer.
This is already better that the Halo TV series
I enjoy the halo series personally. Set designs and atmosphere is really cool.
You could film rats eating out of a dumpster for an hour it would be better than the Paramount show.
@@Resin311 I think you should the watch E:R review. He does a great breakdown on why the Paramount show is bad from the ground up without any previous context on Halo, like playing the games reading the books.
@@BlueTeam-John-Fred-Linda-Kelly I don't need somone to think for me and give me reasons why I shouldn't like or like the show. I have watched it and enjoy it. That being said I always watched picard before hand so halo was always a breathe of fresh air from that
6:10 He’s casually quoting Lord Hood from Halo 3. Some of you Halo fans might have missed it and everyone else certainly did.
I think you underestimate the Halo fanbase
Using one of the most widely quoted moments in Halo is not that hard to miss.
Is the timestamp right? I can't say he's quouting anything
@@PureRushXevus "one final effort is all that remains" is whats being referenced. maybe 10 seconds after
When both you and Walter love superdukes and Corridor Crew.
What’s great about Corridor is they treat the staff well and help them follow their dreams to be the best they can be.
This echoes so well to what the crew said on the last "animators react" about fan films. Fan films aren't made by dudes in their bedroom, some are made by professionnals and this one is definitely amazingly done !
I love everyone at Corridor. But Fenner and Jonah KILLED THIS 🔥
This looks better than most stuff coming out currently! And I'm deep in the industry. Stunning! Great job!
Guys, this must be done.. this would be amazing to watch as a full short film someday. Kudos.
When I saw that trailer, I compleyely forgot this was a corridor video... Great props for the quality of work here. I pray this will become a thing. Itll outshine anything majoy studios put out nowadays by a long shot

This is the kind of raw Halo content we've been needing. I'd be so excited for a project like this.
The trailer looks visually stunning! Amazing work, Fenner and Jonah! Hope we all get to see more of this! 🙌
yo, it's my favourite UA-cam art instructor! What up son?
@@josiahfennell Hi there! XD
Unreal 10/10. I would pay to watch this as a full movie in a cinema, probably more than once!
Your trailer shows more care, and thought than the multi millions that has been used to destroy Halo in the TV show! Congrats guys hope this becomes a thing!
That genuinely gave me chills! feels so much like the old live action bungie adverts and captured the vibes perfectly
that Flute at 8:54 fits perfectly with the current state of this franchise
Facts hahaha
Maybe a kazoo
@@redbloodcell4047 This comment, while brilliant... Will never get the recognition it deserves.
That’s a slide whistle, but yes it does fit the series perfectly
😂
That trailer has got to be one of the most dope pro level vfx/cgi things I've ever seen coming from Corridor. Fenner is an absolute beast! I could not get over those film effects ontop of the rendering, like how? PLEASE have funner dive into nuke on a functional filmmaking episode
It’s become clear that the only hope for a decent halo cinema is going to come from extremely talented fans like you guys. I’m already way more invested in this trailer than I ever was for the official show.
What the halo show missed completely were 2 simple things.
1. Respect to the past and source material for a loved franchise
2. Passionate creativity
You had both here.
Can't wait to see where this goes/watch how it develops.
what up dog
Everything they do feels like true Corridor because they are Corridor and have never stopped.
I really hope this short film is still happening. I remember first seeing this video and being so excited and happy to have someone who is actually so passionate about the halo universe and lore.
This guy is a seriously talented compositor! I was well surprised by just how cinematic this looked
Can we take a moment to appreciate Jordan's voice over in this? Like those few lines she had were so well delivered.
Was about to write that. We already knew she got some acting chops but her voice acting was on point.

6:19 "ONE FINAL EFFORT" mmyes i see what you did there my man. and i like it.
Please drop this trailer by itself, this was so cool!!! Was blown away by how emotionally invested I got in such a short trailer.
This is awesome! You guys should totally release the trailer on its own!
This looks amazing, I teared up a little at how beautiful this is.
My heart rate and breathing sped up and my pupils dilated
Watching what they already have, gave me chills, and made me feel like I was watching a continuation of previously done fan film, ads, etc. Not the current TV show. I was hit so hard with nostalgia, excitement, and wonder. As if i was back in the halo universe again. Seeing this makes me happy and hopeful. Maybe the TV producers will reach out to you guys and see what really needs to happen to make a good Halo..... anything! Movie, TV show, mini series, etc. Thank you, I'm about to cry after seeing that. Thank you.
the fact the flood wasnt mentioned until the actual trailer made this so damn good. got goosebumps
2 VFX bois made a trailer that directly competes with basically any multimillion-dollar trailer that has come out recently. This shows the power one holds when they deeply care about what they do, and we need more of this in the digital industries. Excellent job!
now picture how polished it would have been if they had more time to work on it
True story.
@@irikuchitharnaby1219 I hope they will get that time and help.
I literally got goosebumps during the trailer!!!!
Safe to say you were not the only one
Yup same. And I don't get goosebumps often from videos. You guys have my axe (money)
So cool to see fenner doing these big projects and pushing what corridor can do
Sam and Niko have been bringing on some of the most talented artists in the vfx game, and what I love the most is each brings a different perspective in the world of vfx and CG.
2 guys made a trailer that outshined an entire tv production with a massive budget. Let that sink in
Love this, the cinematography is just incredible. And the fact that you guys did this in Blender is just amazing!
This is legit one of the most impressive projects you guys have done
WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS COME OUT
It's going to be a *MASSIVE* hit, can absolutely promise you this
Goosebumps guys. Goosebumps! That was an awesome trailer and I would love to see more!! The halo project the fans really want!!
I’d love to see this turning into an actual short film. Great job corridor.
Lads that is insanely good, the fact it was done with just two of you proves how good and passionate you are on this. Would be amazing to see what you could do with the crew at your back with the things they are brilliant at too.
I’ve never wanted to see a Halo film more.
Wow. I have...
THIS. IS. AMAZING! I REALLY WANT TO SEE THIS BECOME A FULL FLEDGED MOVIE! IT WILL BE EPIC!
Please make this a full movie. Finally something the fans deserve.
7:04 right there is why you should never skip a corridor sponsored segment.
Matt's slide whistle was flames
Sponsor segment lasted 1:17. What a reference.
Masterpiece - blockbuster level.
The Crew singing the halo theme in unison is all I needed today
Don't know if I'd consider that unison lol but I loved it all the same
I prefer motion capture than just animating the entire thing for a few reasons.
