    Nice video contest, Is it possible for you to do some salary survey discussion in Canadian job market for someone starting in VFX industry as HR Coordinator up to HR manager or senior level. What kind of salary they should expect or negotiate in Canadian Job market. thank you.

      Sorry but I'm not too familiar with the Canadian job market as I'm based in the UK. Though I've hired in Canada, it hasn't been too often or for HR roles

    Isn't Tip 2 valid for the first interview more than for the final one?

    I've heard that you should not negotiate until after you receive the offer. Because by then, they already want you. If you start negotiating or talking about money before getting an offer, that could make the interviewer hesitant.
    I really like the last bit, telling them you really want the job. if you have the guts to tell them, you really do want the job :D

      Hi Ben! It's true that you can negotiate once you receive an offer as you know at that point you're wanted. But, not bringing up compensation until the end of the process means you run the risk of not getting the offer you want. Set those expectations as soon as you can.

      @@JoeBurridge agree! In my case, it was on my initial interview that the compensation was talked about and it was the interviewer who discussed it to me and I didn't even ask him about it, however not all companies are like that so it's really good to bring up the compensation specially if the interviewer would say "do you have any questions or clarifications?"

    what happens if you told your potential new employer that you made 100k during the hiring interview but you actually make 95k. If they check for previous salary, do you think this could be a reason for decline? Is there a way to get around it if they question this discrepancy?

    • @JoeBurridge
      @JoeBurridge  3 роки тому +4

      Hi Valmir, thanks for your question. I have two thoughts here. Firstly, I doubt employers will check your personal finances and ask for proof of your current or previous earnings. But also secondly, you can avoid that by not telling them your current earnings and instead focus on what you're looking for. You're not obliged to reveal personal information like that in the interview process in some countries or areas it's now illegal.
