I’m doing well and wanted to say hello and thank you so much to everyone’s questions comments, concerns and feedback.
I would love to get more into the nitty-gritty, but my technical difficulties seem to be hindering that. I just want you to know that you are seen and heard And I very much am grateful for all of your interactions. I honestly wish you all a happy new year and hope that there are some peace and pain-free days in the next days and weeks and years ahead for you I will try to do better at getting more specific videos going. I just had a bit of a journey recently, but hopefully my light will come back and I’ll interact a little bit more.
Thank you so much for being a part of my world

I am 3 month post 4level ACDF , I was complaining about how things hurt and I wasn’t satisfied, but after listening to a lot of people here I realized I came out of it very well and I’m blessed so the community certainly helped me appreciate what I had, and it made me realize it certainly could’ve been worse, update 5/19/24 , still doing PT Next still sore at the end of the day numbness in hand, still gets bad at the end of the day other than that steadily improving, hope this helps someone !

Hi Kim, I'm three weeks into my recovery (c5-t1) and I'm incredibly thankful for all of your videos. I dealt with the nerve and muscular pain for a few months leading up to my procedure and now that I've had the surgery, I'm much better but still deal with the numbness/tingliness/blahblahblah as you described before, in my left hand. Thank you so much for your honesty and constant reminders to do the little things. I've been horrible about bending over, picking stuff up, twisting, etc., but your videos have put me back in the right headspace. I'm also drinking the heck out of protein shakes thanks to you. My heart breaks to hear how you're still dealing with the nerve pain but prayers that you'll continue to find relief from the pain. Maybe also another physician that will further help you :/ Hang in there! Thanks again for your channel :)

Hi. Fellow congenital spinal stenosis pt. here (cervical and lumbar). Great to hear you are doing well. What ever you do, keep you neck and core (TVA, rectus) strong. Even if you have no symptoms, keep up your neck strengthening exercises and limit your neck flexion activities, such as looking down at a smartphone. Hold it up high or just avoid scrolling altogether. Pilates is excellent and the stronger your paraspinal muscles are, the better you will do in later life. You don't have to have an accident to have a spinal disk problem; many times it is due to poor posture and weak muscles, but a narrow spinal canal certainly doesn't help. You facets and uncovertebral joints will take a lot of wear and the picture you show of the central cut of the spine (Saggital, showing laminae) will not show this; off to the side is often where the real problems relating to arm pain, occur. Good luck and keep up the good work.

I am 8 weeks post op on my 63rd birthday, same surgery. I have none of these issues from surgery because I watched your videos. Yours is a cautionary tale. For me, those first few weeks were brutally boring. I only removed my vista collar to change the wet pads after an infrequent shower. I cried out of fright the first time. Not going to sugarcoat it, this surgery sucks. But being paralyzed sucks even more. That's where I was headed and could be again. I have AS. Please follow your doctor's orders, it's worth it. I promise. The only prescription meds I am on are muscle relaxers and I have cut back on those because I am able to resume walking. Admittedly, I grow and roll my own, so, ... whatever works and to each their own. If you are getting this surgery, recovering from this surgery, or contemplating it, I am sending some healing vibes your way.

10/11/2024 will be the 2 year anniversary since my C5-C7 ACDR surgery. Four days after surgery, I asked my girlfriend to leave since she wasn’t helping. Recovery has been good, BUT I still have muscle weakness / lack of endurance in just my triceps. My surgeon has referred me to the Mayo Clinic for further evaluation.

Hi Kim! I suffer from stenosis myself I'm 36 a mother, I ended up in a surgery like yours but instead it was posterior C3-C6 which failed a year after, and it put me in severe kyphosis with screws out the bone... I had to find a new doctor to help me.... I had a revision surgery, I now sit posterior C2-C7 and anterior C3-C7 total of 27 pieces of titanium in my neck, my T1 was saved it was supposed to go in to T1, I'm almost two years out of that surgery, I suffer with so much swelling to my thoracic and standing up for periods of time, my heart goes out to you and everyone going threw something of this!!!!

Hi Kim and friends, I had a CDF in January 2023 and then when I went for my six month check up my doctor said it didn’t fuse so I had posterior laminectomy infusion done in November 2023 and now I am like 2 1/2 months of healing from that and I feel good. My neck doesn’t bother me at all. It’s just still my hands and my right hand is worse than my left and I can’t bend my fingers all the way and I have very little sensitivity feeling in my fingertips and up to my palm, anyway, I appreciate you guys. Thanks for sharing.

I've been watching your videos today and feel no one should continue to suffer after this kind of surgery in 2024. There's a doctor in NY who only deals with cervical surgeries. Dr. Riew and I will be consulting with him if this last cortisone shot I'm getting on Tuesday doesn't work.

I don't know whats going on in the world but so many people are going through so much😢 From dealing with anxiety, pain, depression, loss. I am 3 weeks almost post surgery c4-c6. My only issue has been swallowing and thungs feeling stuck and will start p/t. I'm just trying to get my life back and closer to God. I've been experiencing anxiety and it sucks. I don't want to start any meds because in the past meds didn't work for anxiety and maybe I haven't found the right one yet. Life has been a but much the last 3-4 years for me. Praying for everyone experiencing something.

No matter what time of day anxiety starts ; for myself its 3 am or when waking... I take Lemon Balm and Ashwagandha in an 8 ounce of water. I buy mine from Sprouts but you can find on the internet. It eases my mind and helps me feel calm and focused. I also was told that i might have swallowing issues after surgery. I was at St. Jude and they brought in a specialist for swallowing. Just to be sure, they kept me on a soft food diet the 7 days in hospital. Please give yourself time and patience for your body to heal.

Two years since my laminectomy and discectomy and fusion cervical 6-7 ...I hope I'm correct ...3 plates and 12 scews in my neck. I was hopeful and painful the first year. Second year my spirits started to dwindle. I started physical therapy and the fact that they understand this emotional rollercoaster says a lot. Its physical therapy with counceling is how I look at it. They understand the pain and frustration. I look forward to therapy every week. I too feel like I've come to terms with the numbness and imbalance for me. I'm using a walker still after 2 years. What I'm feeling positive about it the encouragement and seeing tiny results everytime I see the physical therapist. Hope this helps
