A wonderful year of gaming indeed. So much fun playing with loved ones! And thanks for everything you’ve shared with us this year - happy holidays to you both!
Grand Austria Hotel is my all-time favourite game. It's so tight in every way and you can quite easily dig yourself into a hole if you don't keep your options open... but when you pull off an incredible chain combo in spite of all of that it feels 😍 That's why I love it.
Thanks for your list! For me, the three standout games my group played are: A Message From the Stars, The Morrison Game Factory, and Oathsworn. Good times! I would like to give Dead Cells a try at some point, but I didn't back it, so who knows? Keep warm with those great sweaters! :D
I love your channel! Thanks so much! Thanks for being authentic souls and not after the internet fame or the internet money whatever. In the jungle or hundreds of meaningless channels, I feel the passion and soul in all your reviews and videos! Keep the great work up! You are awesome! Thanks a lot!!
Never heard of sweetlands. Going to check it out now, thanks. I am in favour of the flexibilty of your top 10 of 2024 list, including prototypes is actually very handy for my purchasing and thats why I watch the best game of year lists ultimately.
Really enjoyed the video! My number#1 board game that I played in 2024 is Hegemony. I believe everyone who likes medium to heavy games should try it at least once. Hegemony is a milestone game that shows how much board games have evolved
Thanks for sharing your top picks. Off the top of my head, my top new-to-me games this year are: Andromeda's Edge, Scholars of the South Tigris, Dune: Uprising, Cosmoctopus, Frosthaven, Revive, Oathsworn, Wondrous Creatures, Sleeping Gods, and Rolling Realms. I really like Wyrmspan and Ironwood as well, and I'm looking forward to Callisto as my first Undaunted game.
Just out of interest why didn't you think Arcs would be so high? Also, we kinda rated Arcs based upon its own merits, not in combination with Blighted Reach for this list so that didn't factor in.
@ if I remember correctly you were reviewing it in a separate video back when it was starting its shipping to the markets, and for me it looked like it was too cutthroat for you (based on your review). But maybe I understood incorrectly
@@antonkosse2777 Ah I see! I think it's that we expressed how cutthroat it is so people are aware of that before they buy it and take it into consideration. We generally play both sides because it's a review and focus on what people may or may not like. The cutthroat part doesn't bother us in any way, we are mean mean people.
I found it pretty hilarious (in an awesome way) that Just One made it on to either of your lists. Mainly because you are very much heavy euro gamers. I have played it a few times this year and think it is a great party style game. Possibly one of the best I have played. I will definitely check out pampero. Thanks for the video, love your channel❤
Thanks so much for watching! It seems that one word game always sneaks on the list...there's something to be said about games you can play with anyone!
Now I'm on the lookout for Sweet Lands coming to market. Funny how the economy sounds a little like Race for the Galaxy - you pay cards to play things.
My game of the year is A gest of Robin Hood - 2-player head to head and very cutthroat but with (for me) a richer theme than Ironwood, and a much prettier board. Definitely share the Arcs love but it's hard to get the campaign to the table.Condolences for Gran as well
I've heard mixed things about Caverna in comparison to Argicola, but of course would like to try it out - will have to maybe take a look at a board game cafe.
So glad I caught this in time for Christmas shipping, great recommendations as always! Curious whether you've played Slay the Spire and how you think it stacks up against Dead Cells if so (ordered the former this morning and wondering if I can justify adding the latter 😂)?
Please put the box cover on the corner of the screen when you're talking about the game... sometimes i switch to work come back to you guys and have no idea what game you're talking about 😞
Hey guys, thanks for the top 10 list! Can I suggest a more zoomed in video. When watching this at 1.5x zoom the composition is much improved. Just a thought 🙏
How do I keep coming back to this channel? Oh yeah, you two like medium to heavy games. You’ve earned my subscription, thank you!
Oh boy do we! Thanks so much for subscribing, we'll be sure to cover big heavy games as much as possible.

Love the sweaters! Great vid! Gotta check out the reskinned undaunted now 😅
Cheers!
Thank you for the kind words about Dead Cells! Best wishes!
Cheers!

I've heard such mixed things about A Message From the Stars, but I do love deduction! Need to get back to Oathsworn too.
I love your channel! Thanks so much!

Wow, very very kind words! Thank you so much!
Great video. My favourite game of the year isn’t a new one. It’s search for Planet X. Merry Christmas to you both. 🎄👍 🥃
Cheers! That's a game that's been on our to try list for years...
Never heard of sweetlands. Going to check it out now, thanks.

Thanks for sharing your input! Really helpful for making these types of video in the future.

Would love to play Hegemony, I think it would be our kind of thing. Was hoping to get a review copy but it didn't materialise.

We've got Scholars on the shelf! Would also very much like to play Revive. Thanks for sharing!
Also love these videos from you two! My tastes are very similar to yours.
Love your Root content! I think I saw you had a hand in designing one of the new expansion boards? Cannot wait! Frogs for the win.
@ Awh thank you ❤️ yes the Gorge map is my design. I’m stoked for the new factions, frogs are shaping up AMAZING.
@@LordoftheBoard Amazing, can't wait to try it out! I'm not sure anything can beat the Lizards, but the Frogs would be the ones to do it.
Absolutely liked the video. Didn’t expect Arcs to be so high.
So, after all you did like the Arcs Blighted Reach with its’ storytelling?
Just out of interest why didn't you think Arcs would be so high? Also, we kinda rated Arcs based upon its own merits, not in combination with Blighted Reach for this list so that didn't factor in.

I plan on buying Captain's Chair for Solo. It is Star Trek themed Impeium
Yea we've heard a bit about this hear and there, will be interesting
Thank you for the BG content in 2024!
You are most welcome!

RftG is still on our list to play!

Thanks for sharing! That Arcs Campaign is a beast...
Great lists, greater sweaters!
Love the love for the sweaters!
I haven't played Agricola, but Caverna is one of my top games and is something of a sequel to Agricola.
I've heard mixed things about Caverna in comparison to Argicola, but of course would like to try it out - will have to maybe take a look at a board game cafe.

We have not! Certainly interested to, but just haven't gotten around to it yet - a few people have asked so seems like a task for the new year!
Love the video! Those sweaters are spectacular too!!
Plenty more where that came from! Cheers!
Agreed, your holiday jumpers are rad! Well played, @BoardOfItReviews. ❄☃
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
couldn't back the campaign- do we know if sweetlands will retails?
I am not sure - maybe to a limited extent? I think the kickstarter did quite well, so some stores likely picked it up.
Hoping Andromeda's Edge/Arcs make it up the list. Curious if Fractured Sky, Ironwood, and Rebirth make the cut. Hitting play now!
Honestly, most of those we haven't played, but the ones we have...
Fractured Sky is such a dud. Arcs however oh my!
