The “danger” of werewolves is barely explained in the movie. They’re called “Bloodthirsty monsters who roam these woods, feasting on innocent cheerleaders.” But they aren’t much of a danger. They don’t physically attack anyone. They also look human. All they do is howl, show off their glowing yellow eyes and sharp teeth and live in the “Forbidden Forest”. The only illegal thing they do is to sneak into school at night, which has no consequence, and no one seems to know about it.
I don’t think we can call them “werewolves” they just have claws and pointy ears and also uh uh uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah that’s pretty much it

I like how Danny points out the werewolves hardly being creature-like as being bizarre as if this isn't the same franchise that depicts zombies as just people with green hair
To be fair, at least Zombies generally look like humans even if they're decaying. Werewolves on the other hand turn into wolves during the full moon, and the werewolves in this movie don't even do that.
Addison clearly should have realized she wasn’t a werewolf because her name doesn’t start with a W. The rules of this universe dictates that she must be something that starts with an A. Cue Zombies 3
I came here to inform everybody, that there will be, in fact, a Zombies 4: ZOMBIES 4- The Dawn of The Vampires. I can’t wait to see the movie, with- Not just Outdoor teens- Not just Zombies- Not just Aliens- But also, now, Vampires.
the weirdest thing about this is the fact that they're HORRIFIED at the sight of werewolves but welcome man eating zombies with open arms💀 and the fact that the zombies are also freaked even though they were just allowed to be around humans like 6 months ago lmao
It's a commentary about how those who have less status in society might turn against a more vulnerable group to protect their 'in-group' status. E.g. how so many working class people in UK will be anti-immigrant or how there's a whole subset of women or gay people who oppose trans rights despite literally having to fight the same battle against the same oppression
youd think that the zombies, having been oppressed by the humans, would recognise similar treatment towards the werewolves and treat them with more empathy
Addison keeps talking about how she “doesn’t fit in” when she’s the most popular and accepted person in the entire school if not town. The cheerleading team even elect her to be the cheer captain. She doesn’t seem to struggle with anything except her hair not matching her eyebrows.
Addison is basically one of those white girls who finds out that her great-great-great-great-great-grandmother might have had a cousin who could have possibly been 0.001% Native American and proceeds to make that her entire personality.
shes the americans who finds out theyre 5% irish from a family member shes never met and proceed to say they're just SO connected to ireland (they dont know the difference between ireland and northern ireland)
I hope they keep making sequels that tease explaining Addison’s hair color but always turn out to be a red herring. 1st movie: Grandfather bitten by a zombie, implies she has zombie in her 2nd movie: thinks she’s an alpha werewolf 3rd movie: aliens 4th movie: her dad is actually Zeus 5th movie: she’s a ghost
it's amazing how every teen movie with werewolves in it comes off as pro colonization. Like the "settlers" were attacked by the "wild werewolves" and "defended against the beasts"
It’s so funny if you think about the context. You settled on their land, without their permission, stole their resources, And they attacked you. What’d you expect 😭
I'm curious what other teen werewolf movies you're thinking of? All I can think of is the movie Teen Wolf, starring Michael J. Fox, which has different racial overtones. Edit: actually I just thought about twilight and their werewolves, so there's at least a couple.
@@nootnewt9323 omg this reminds me of when people were memeing the movie “Tall Girl” “I have to wear a size 13 Nike, in MENS” “ *i was born without arms.* “
@donovanfaust3227 I was mostly just thinking about twilight and winging it from there, mostly because "we tried to set up home in nature but people already living there didn't want us?!?!? What the heck?!?!" Is a theme used in a couple of things iirc
I’m used to Disney movies having some pretty mild bullying but shredding a cheerleader's love letters and using them to make Pom poms used in cheerleading is sadistic
Addisons entire motivation throughout these movies is “I’m not like other girls cause I have slightly blonder hair” I think Alex Meyers says it best in his review of the movies
It's soooo stupid from a writing perspective but from a character perspective... to be fair in the first movie she said she would get bullied for it and she was right. People deadass do not fuck with the white hair lol
16:35 “HE WANTS TO EAT ME HE IS TRYING TO FUCKING EAT ME!” THAT GOT ME ROLLING ON THE FLOOR 😭😭😭 Edit: Holy shit I DIDNT REALISE THAT I HAD THIS MANY LIKES
I was going insane during that scene when I first watched the movie I was SO hoping Danny would say something 😭 He didn’t swerve or brake or anything heading straight for that kid in the middle of the road. It’s just all so ridiculously unsafe and they never acknowledge what the heck is going on with the mascot 💀
I was in shock when I first watched this movie and how insane the racial stereotypes were! Referring to them as "savages," the pack mentality of the werewolves, the wearing of furs and feathers, the no werewolves signs in store windows (comparable to the no dogs no natives signs), and having the natives as being werewolves. As an AK native is was laughable how obvious it was!
Someone was like “how do we make the werewolves from twilight even more racist” and they came up with native coded werewolves. It’s wild bc in the third movie they make aliens a metaphor for undocumented immigrants lmao
It's hilarious to me that the main zombie guy says "it's hard to believe there was a time when people were afraid of zombies" when the time gap between the two movies can't be more than like a year or two at most. "Do you guys remember when we beat zombie racism like 6 weeks ago? That was so long ago, I can barely remember the systemic oppression I lived under for my entire un-life..."😂
I also love that shes not even completely wrong 😂 Like in this universe of ZOMBIES and WEREWOLVES people still somehow kinda bully Addison for...having very light hair😂
My best friend's little sister as a kid was obsessed with the Z.O.M.B.I.E.S series, and when the second one came out, she hosted a party themed as Z.O.M.B.I.E.S (That is such an annoyance to type) and I very vividly remember her playing the "We're wolves, we own the night" song and just kind of jumping around on all fours and acting like a wolf awkwardly while the guests just watched
Dude, when they started talking about prawn and panned over to a prawn driving the bus, I almost died laughing. My sister and I had to pause it for like five minutes to lose it.
zombies was my literal childhood. i forced all my friends to learn the songs and dances, and my older cousin and best friend rewatch the movies with me and make references because now that i’ve grown up i can see how horrible it is, so it’s our inside joke 😭
i love how it took the zombies so many years and advanced technology to finally be allowed at the high school and for the outdoor teens it was just "well they live in the school district!"
Can we appreciate how Danny played every character in the movies? It’s crazy he wrote, directed, edited, and acted in zombies 1 and 2, it’s crazy it was just him!, drew.
After the aliens I think they also have potential to include vampires. Like a major astrological event happens and awakens an entire generation of forgotten vampires.
There’s a series of shorts attached to these movie which have both vampires and mermaids. Honestly, this movie would better with mermaids, as there would have been a much more valid reason to never see their. Mermaid form
@@cureidolsmile9820and then there will be sirens which will be considered as outcasts or just the way the humans there look at zombies. Danny please finish this, we need the last zombies movie. I need it danny, I’m in physical pain every day I don’t see YOU make a video about the last zombies mocie
Addison really is that kid we all knew in high school who every few months discovered some new identity and claimed without a moment's hindsight that she was that thing now and forever.
I like that the werewolves always walk around in that weird arms spread out, very tense and uncomfortable stance. Really tells us that theyre Werewolves
I like how they brought back the anti-monster laws, but didn't change anything about them to combat the "new threat", like just find and replace zombie to werewolf.
I thought this movie had an actual good shot at exploring other sides of racial conflicts because you see the way SeaBrook dealt with the werewolves wasn’t like how they dealt with the zombies, they were actually very receptive and nice to them and the werewolves were the ones who were aggressive and mean to them because they thought they were better than them, if they had acknowledged that the werewolves could have gotten the MoonStone peacefully from the start if they just told the truth to them they could have had a message that being a minority or a victim of oppression doesn’t give you a pass to be mean to others, but the movie not only doesn’t acknowledge that but it also says that the humans (and occasionally the zombies) are always on the wrong and the werewolves are always on the right
@@lauracerqueiramachado8979 That's...interesting. What I thought could have happened was they were going to show the zombies, despite experiencing oppression from humans, will now work with the humans to oppress the werewolves since the werewolves don't fit their standards of an "acclimated monster". Like how pick me women are anti-feminist to get validation from men despite experiencing misogyny from said men.
It amazes me that all of the child audience in zombies supports Addison the whole time. She finds a way to insert herself into everything in every possible way. She makes literally everything about her.
There are 3 movies, 2 what I can only consider to be weird png animated shorts series and one ordinary shorts series (I think it's a shorts series, I don't know because I haven't watched it) and no one *once* thought to give her some *real* character development
I mean to be fair, it's accurate to child/teenagerhood for a lot of people. A lot of folks go through a stage where they feel like they dont fit in or they dint have an identity and then try way too hard to find something they can concretely say is "them". Sometimes it's really cringe, bc.... They're young and their brains are still developing lmao.
I feel like it’s so crazy that even though this whole movie is supposed to be about the werewolves, the writers put absolutely no thought into their lore or what it means for them to start being apart of society and now they’re just… all in highschool now because Addison said so
As someone who used to work at a Disney Store when these movies were popular and had to listen to some of these terrible songs on repeat while dealing with annoying customers, these videos have been very cathartic for me.
Addison's main trait being forcing herself into marginalized groups is so strong I swear there was official Pride 2023 art for disney channel with her in it along side /actual/ lgbt animated characters like its insane we do not claim her. OR was her relationship also supposed to be an allegory for same sex couples??!!
She seems like the person who tries to set up her queer friend with somebody who’s “just their type!!” But the only thing they have in common is *being queer.*
the funny thing about that is there are at least two canon lgbt characters in the zombies universe. one of the aliens in zombies 3 has a crush on willa (one of the werewolves) and strictly uses they/them pronouns. willa reciprocates the crush on the alien. they could have used either one of them if they really wanted to include a zombies character on their pride art.
And I honestly think the worst thing they did with this series is end it with her being part alien, because it really feels like they're *encouraging* hormonal teenagers to force themselves into other cultures because "you never know when something's going to stick!"
I find it really interesting that Seabrook basically decided to make racism legal again after hearing about the existence of werewolves. And the "anti-monster laws" only affect the ability for Zombies to go to the Prom (which is called the "prawn" cause that's funny)
The laws were made to effect specifically Zombies of course they dont do anything to werewolves. Its like bringing back Jim Crow laws and wondering why it isnt stopping Aliens.
I once saw someone say that the movies would have been a lot better on Addison's part if she had either green hair or some zombies had white hair to make her struggles actually mean something and not be so shallow And I gotta say to whoever wrote that, I 100% agree Edit: I also would like to add that Addison having weirdly strong ties to the cheerleaders in the first movie as opposed to the LITERALLY oppressed zombies would have made more sense if Bucky knew her secret and manipulated her into siding with the cheerleaders by threatening to expose her secret (that is of course if she looked similar to a zombie and there was actually something to fear in the first place)
I mean monsters ARE second class citizens in this, when you consider laws are already ON THE BOOK (albeit suspended) which are blatantly discriminatory to them
As someone who has fried my hair with bleach to get it as platinum as Addison's, Addison saying "it's still white AND WELL CONDITIONED" is definitely shade at all of us dry fake blondes lol Also just absolutely dying that Addison being perfectly platinum is supposed to be freakish and gross, like literally NEVER 😂
idk i remember people making the argument that "if young people have white hair how do we tell how old they are?!?!? Therefore white hair = bad" so there definitely are some of those types out there
I had a gf who had to sleep with her neck propped up because her hair was so brittle. It upset her when it was touched, so no arm over the shoulder etc. Talk about fried!
I have black hair, I bleached it myself when I was a teenager so I could dye my hair crazy colors, but the best I could do was a yellowish color before it looked like it was about to fall out. I did manage to dye it red, but blue was not gonna work. My hair was trashed for ages
you can get bullied for anything, especially as a kid. but it doesn't show her get bullied . it doesn't show her being cast out. she's with her pack all the time the cheerleaders/friends. her parents don't oppress her. for example, wanting to send her away to boarding school. and bringing people from different ways of life who have barbaric traditional things that are part of them that you dont agree with like honor killings and female genital mutilation, forced marriage, etc, would absolutely be seen as ''monstrous''. its only when those people repress/stop doing of all that problematic stuff about their kind, that we can all get along. dangerous propaganda as people will not change a part of their culture that you deem as unacceptable.
The funny thing is if they actually decided Addison's flaw to be something more significant than hair colour, it could've been a much more interesting plot. Her and Zed could bond over being different, and she could actually have a proper reason to not feel like she fits in.
provided she’s the only person with that kind of hair, that would absolutely be a “flaw” like albinism. A much easier to do flaw. Think Fantasy, orcs and dwarves and elves often have the most flaws which are pretty much just birth defects that affect them aesthetically. If the hair colour is considered a flaw, then people would look down on her regardless of if she also had albinism, short stature or whatever.
@@Toothydeere Having white hair is no where near as serious as facing systematic oppression. Adisson groups herself in with every minority despite being a rich, pretty white girl with loving family and friends. Being a Zombie or a Wherewolf isn't anywhere near being a human with a different hair colour. So, I'm saying she needs something that would actually make her an oppressed minority.
i would just like to add how whenever baby Ariel talks or does anything everyone just gets quiet and stares at her. i think this makes her the most valid representation for outdoor teenagers because it’s fair if she’s lived in the woods for like 16 years
13:25 idk if anyone else has mentioned this but the reason the werewolves all look like teenagers is bc they ARE all teenagers, since the necklaces arent as powerful as they used to be the older werewolf population is much weaker so the younger ones take it upon themselves to find and protect the moonstone, thats why the one they consider pack alpha is a teenage girl and not a fully grown werewolf (though i cant remember seeing an adult werewolf in the third movie either now that i think about it lmao)
right. im at a loss because its got like 4.7 on google reviews and 100% on rotten tomatoes. reading the google reviews though, nobody over the age of 11 reviewed this.
Another detail im suprised you didn't mention is that there was a scene where Addison asked zed to keep the moonstone safe but it gets stuck to his z-band and drained all the power from the Moonstone, it overloaded his z-band with power and he turned into a wrinkly zombie so the Moonstone wouldn't have worked even if she was a werewolf and they didn't even address it
I still can't get over how Addison's hair literally isn't white💀 Zombies literally tried to gaslight us into thinking it was platinum blonde the whole time in the first movie, & THAT was the problem. Like what even-
@@blueismylove3128 First movie, the entire issue with her was that her hair was white. Like snow white, which is why she was so different. In this one it's like 3 shades darker than white, then gets a little lighter when she becomes a werewolf.
@@ms.blooddiamond3857 I mean it's the same issue with calling Black people, black. We aren't literally black, our skin is brown, but we are still called Black. We call ginger people redheads even tho often their hair is orange. What you're talking about is a continuity error tho and the costumers forgetting what exact shade her hair was in the last movie lol.
@@blueismylove3128 Yes. My point is that a continuity error occurred. It's not even remotely the same issue though. We're talking about hair. If someone says they've got a black friend, I'm not going to envision a person with skin the colour of soot, as if they're a dementor. But if someone says their friend has black hair, I'm expecting a pretty solid, night sky sort of colour.
@@ms.blooddiamond3857 Lol yes it is the same thing 😂. When someone says they're a redhead, you don't imagine their hair literally being red either right? That's my point. You're right, when someone says Black person you DON'T imagine they have literal black skin, but you know what they mean by that. When someone says "my hair is white" usually what they mean IS platinum blonde. People with dark brown eyes, say they're black all the time. What I'm getting at is we as a society have never been exact when it comes to color. Close enough is often just that, close enough. Calling platinum blonde hair white is not unusual and a weird thing to bring up, when there are so many valid things to criticize in this movie. Again it's like being mad at a ginger haired person calling their hair red and being like "no it's actually orange 😡" 😂.

I like how Danny points out the werewolves hardly being creature-like as being bizarre as if this isn't the same franchise that depicts zombies as just people with green hair
zombies looking like normal people to the left is normal zombie media werewolves never even being wolfy is weird
At least zombies are supposed to be humanoid creatures that were just ex-humans who like eating brains. These werewolves don’t even look like wolves 😭
To be fair, at least Zombies generally look like humans even if they're decaying. Werewolves on the other hand turn into wolves during the full moon, and the werewolves in this movie don't even do that.
Their skin is pale and underneath their eyes are red so ig that's something

I think they realised zombids were jsut dead humans and they LITTERALLY PUT "LEASHES" on the zombies like the wrist bands so they could control them
It's a commentary about how those who have less status in society might turn against a more vulnerable group to protect their 'in-group' status.
E.g. how so many working class people in UK will be anti-immigrant or how there's a whole subset of women or gay people who oppose trans rights despite literally having to fight the same battle against the same oppression
youd think that the zombies, having been oppressed by the humans, would recognise similar treatment towards the werewolves and treat them with more empathy
I can explain! Werewolves only attack once every month, while zombies attack all the time every day. hope this helps! :)

So like in many real world societies then?🤷♀
I thought this movie had an actual good shot at exploring other sides of racial conflicts because you see the way SeaBrook dealt with the werewolves wasn’t like how they dealt with the zombies, they were actually very receptive and nice to them and the werewolves were the ones who were aggressive and mean to them because they thought they were better than them, if they had acknowledged that the werewolves could have gotten the MoonStone peacefully from the start if they just told the truth to them they could have had a message that being a minority or a victim of oppression doesn’t give you a pass to be mean to others, but the movie not only doesn’t acknowledge that but it also says that the humans (and occasionally the zombies) are always on the wrong and the werewolves are always on the right
It’s not even banning zombies from school or making them stay home, they just can’t go to prawn. Crisis averted.
@@lauracerqueiramachado8979 That's...interesting. What I thought could have happened was they were going to show the zombies, despite experiencing oppression from humans, will now work with the humans to oppress the werewolves since the werewolves don't fit their standards of an "acclimated monster". the funny thing about that is there are at least two canon lgbt characters in the zombies universe. one of the aliens in zombies 3 has a crush on willa (one of the werewolves) and strictly uses they/them pronouns. willa reciprocates the crush on the alien. they could have used either one of them if they really wanted to include a zombies character on their pride art.

The funny thing is if they actually decided Addison's flaw to be something more significant than hair colour, it could've been a much more interesting plot. Her and Zed could bond over being different, and she could actually have a proper reason to not feel like she fits in.

11:26 THATS WHAT THIS IS FROM ?????!!!!!!
I'm still waiting for the day that Danny confirms that he is actually a zombie but without the green hair
He kinda looks like the main zombie guy
I honestly wouldn’t be surprised
He’s got some white in his hair he’s clearly a werewolf
He dyed his hair
Didnt he have only like 25% zombie
