  • Want to turn your track Miata into a rallycross monster in no time? Do you have a track-ready Exocet that just needs - NEEDS! - to sling mud? Check out the easy-to-install 3" lift kit from Paco Motorsports, available through Flyin' Miata. Includes a walk-through of the parts as well as some very dirty footage of the lift kit installed on a turbo Exocet along with 30" tires. Just plain stupid fun.
    Available through Flyin' Miata: www.flyinmiata.com/lift-kit.html
    Note: There have been some improvements to the design of the parts shown in this video, so they look a bit different now.

    Great video.
    That 3" lift is now on my "must have" list.
    First I will be swapping in a 1.9L ALH.

    i want to see an install video for the lift on that blue miata. I also would like to see how it looks with the current tire rim combo.

    The Exocet is cool and all, but I just want to know what it would be like to put this kit on my 01 with your Tokicos and lowering springs already on it. I have some spare stock 16's with dry-rotted tires on them... I have read that the cheapest way to go rallycross is to just get some snow/ice tires and go for it. So this lift kit and some snow/ice tires should allow me to drive my 01 all 4 seasons!

      +Chilicharger665 Yup, it's an easy swap. Your car would sit 3" higher than it does now.

    Please do another video, i will lend you my stock miata and you can try to hoon in it, just trying to come up with ideas

    Cool! Does it raise the car enough such that it causes jacking forces from a raised roll center?

    • @TargaMiata
      @TargaMiata 8 років тому

      +BurnDuration The Miata's roll centers are pretty stable, but we are moving the range of motion down somewhat so it's possible that they start to move at the extremes. It's not something we've investigated, as this isn't intended to be a high performance asphalt setup.

    Question about the blue miata: What size are those oversize tires!

    • @TargaMiata
      @TargaMiata 8 років тому +1

      +Jasraj Deol They're a 195/55-15. Approximately 1" larger than stock diameter. The car's also on a high performance suspension, so it sits lower than stock.

    does this effect the alignment of the car?

    • @TargaMiata
      @TargaMiata 8 років тому +2

      Definitely. The biggest effect will be on the amount of camber. The change in alignment is due to the change in ride height. If you install and remove the lift kit without doing anything else, the alignment will be back where it started.

      We sell a lot of the parts on this car, but this particular vehicle left our fleet a few years back.

    what blowoff valve is on the exocet

    • @TargaMiata
      @TargaMiata 8 років тому

      +julian torres It's a standard FM II setup with a Turbosmart valve. I'm not sure if it's recirculated or vented to atmosphere.

    Imagine an Exocet with a turbocharged 1.8 engine, that lift kit and ALL WHEEL DRIVE.
    And maybe a set of digital gauges (I know, they're not FM-parts) just for the heck of it.

    • @Happymali10
      @Happymali10 3 роки тому

      @@MyLonewolf25 There's Swap kits to power NAs with Subaru Boxers, you could probably fab something up with the Subaru 4WD-system too.
      Or go really odd, use a VW-engine (like a 1.8T) and 4Motion with Haldex control so you can lock it.

    ever thought about making a carbon fiber flywheel, i don't know if its ever been done, but there's just no reason why it shouldn't be possible

    • @TargaMiata
      @TargaMiata 8 років тому +1

      +Jim Fastenau We've never considered it. Our steel flywheels could be lighter if we wanted, but we need a certain amount of weight to keep the engine happy. Steel also gives a nice smooth engagement, which is not necessarily true with carbon.
      What would be the goal?

    • @jimfastenau4984
      @jimfastenau4984 8 років тому

      +Keith Tanner (bear in mind: i don't have the greatest understanding of automotive Engineering haha), pros of carbon fiber flywheel: 1less weight (always a good thing ;) ) 2 not only is it less weight, its also less rotational mass so that weight removal pays out twofold (or even fourfold,don't remember exactly), less rotational mass means an increase in horsepower (and mpg haha) 3 you get faster to the higher revs where the power is 4 better throttle response. cons of carbon fiber flywheel (as far as i know) 1 the engine runs less smoothy (i guess?) 2you get a little bit to fast to redline (i guess?) (maybe this can be fixed if you want with little Taller gearing)

    • @TargaMiata
      @TargaMiata 8 років тому +1

      +Jim Fastenau We can go lighter on the steel flywheels if we want. You do want a minimum mass, that's the whole point of a flywheel. Carbon fiber can damp vibration if used correctly, so it might be interesting from that standpoint - but I think we'd have to charge Ferrari prices for Miata parts if we decided to make one.

    • @jimfastenau4984
      @jimfastenau4984 8 років тому

      +Keith Tanner ok, i understand, but there's a company that makes carbon fibre driveshafts for under 1000 dollar, then a flywheel wouldn't cost that much right? (and if you do make one, you'll have a cool exclusivity amongst other manufacturers ;) )

    • @TargaMiata
      @TargaMiata 8 років тому +1

      +Jim Fastenau Don't hold your breath. We have no plans to do this.
