This is in the top 10 for One Takes in my opinion. This is such a sick build and excellent review.
Congrats Zack, you've nailed Matt's rapid-fire "This is ________ amazing!" laugh and made it all your own! Dope car, dope owner, dope review.
Can we just take a second to appreciate the Jaguar XK8 at the 1:40 mark using its teeny tiny back seat to carry a way too big box? Peak practicality
I miss my 2002 XKR. Had so much leg room, I now have an F-Type and suffer a little bit LOL
“It’s like someone gave meth to an MG” 🤣
For non-imperials.. 748 kilograms. ( awesome video as usual )
Thing is you could get a MX5 to almost the same weight without looking like Turd.
Not getting invited to family reunions is the best part of being a car enthusiast lol.
The only v6 Camaro I'd buy
“I’m very gentle with it...WHEELSPIN!” Good job Zach. I smiled a lot watching this one. Looks like a super fun track toy👍
Exocet remains my dream weekend car. Probably with a supercharged K20 if we're getting specific.
I started my Miata project with the dreams of doing a V6 swap and an Exocet chassis...realized I was biting off far more than I could chew and have wound up with a Miata with a rebuilt stock motor lol. Props to the guys who are making V6s work in Miatas (love it!) and to the guys who are making Exocets work (love them too!) V6 Exocet is the sploogiest! The owner/builder knows what he's talking about, sharp guy :)
What stopped you from doing your exocet project? I'm just discovering them today and I want to do it to my miata now.
4:47 - 1965 Chevrolet - Nice! Emissions exempt.
Seriously though, I hate auto laws. I can't change seats to get more headroom, because that would mean removing airbags, but this is okay, and there's a lawyer in Dover driving an old NASCAR around, and that's okay.
As i person who comes from Europe, after watching Motortrends Roadkill, i can only say one thing: in 'Murica everything is street-legal.
Man that Chevy 3.6 sounds great for a 6.
@@TheSmokingTire I had heard a video of the Camaro V6 with the optional exhaust and loved it, but had totally forgotten. Such a great V6 note.
@@kmac720 There's a greek guy on youtube who's done the LFX swap on a mx-5 and takes it to the ring. I honestly think its the best combination of weight, power, reliability and torque you can get on an mx-5 - the rocketeer is a better supported/sold mod, but frankly I'd rather have a GM v6 than a Jag V6 just for parts availability and reliability.
Zack’s laugh says it all 😂👌🏻
Good Matt Farrah impersonation at 6:29 where he would just be talking then do a pull and laugh , hahaha
That cliffside...jesus.
Yeah. I wasn't expecting it either. "Oh ok, don't crash or we die and definitely start a wildfire." ZK
@@TheSmokingTire I was getting anxiety watching this video lol. All I could imagine was going off the cliff watching this haha
The best One Take I've seen thus far hands down! Keep doing your thing fella!!
Great chemistry here! Zack coming into his own
Daniel is a great guy, met him at a car show. I expressed interest in building one of these. He let me sit in his Exocet, answered all of my questions about the build, and because I was so excited about it, he even offered to let me drive it. Really cool to see true car enthusiasts out there willing to share their hard work with others. THANKS AGAIN Daniel!!
Zack- what a great episode. The car was entertaining on its own, but your wit and enthusiasm for the car really made it. Keep at it man, this one was fantastic.
10/10 on sound it being a v6 , kinda sounds like a 370z engine but a bit more subtle
Fryingpan I thought the same thing when it pulled out early in the video. Kind of a VQ ish sound but a little less trumpety
@@justinturner4850 now that you said that, VQ's do sound kind of like a trumpet lol. Still one of the better sounding v6's imo
y Bratton a lot of people hate on the sound of the vq but I like it too. I like how distinctive it is. You can hear one coming down the street and know what kind of car it is before you see it. Kinda like the EJ in the subarus.
@@justinturner4850 exactly. And I think they're pretty stout engines. I've heard they go through a lot of oil but they love making power
This was an awesome video man. Please keep bringing these unique builds!
Zack...you are a true master of analogies. I don't know how you think of some of the things you say...but I appreciate it greatly...lol.
LOL California, where an Exocet is road legal with a V6 but not a full-bodied Miata.
Sounds so amazing. Too many hours went into that build. Can't wait to see the bodykit. Brave man, to let zack klapman shred through the backroads of livermore.
Zack's coming into his own with this one. This is right up there with the superbike-powered N600, Karl Puth's LS Jag, etc. Great drive, great owner, hilarious commentary, fucking mental car. More of this please!
Terrific build!! I have race chassis #247. These things are the most fun you can have for the money.
Fantastic one take! Great car and cool owner. One of the top one takes for me.
That thing looks like an absolute riot!
This build gives me motivation to work on my own exocet which has been sitting in the garage untouched for 2 years :(.
I don't have a fancy Camaro V6 in the garage, though, just a regular NA motor.
So many questions about choices he made, he's located in same are as me, maybe I'll look him up or something. I'm surprised I don't see him on the Exocet FB group.
This thing is so fucking awesome with that 300hp V6, glorious build. Will be much more fun than the 120 or whatever I have in mine, and even that is enough to cook the tires through 2nd gear.
Amazing. Great one take, Zack! The car is like Tom Cruise meets Gary Busey. As it turns out, so is the owner.
I love this guy a true mad lad. Cant wait to see you out at Sonoma. Currently saving for my exocet
That’s awesome! I’d love to see it on the track!
People say Miatas are go karts for the street- I think this is
I wonder if this could be done with with ecoboost from the mustang. The 10sp would be stupid fast, obviously the stick would be more fun.
Matt’s new stunt Stig? Its nice to see somebody use that engine . I would bet the auto wreckers sell them cheap . A manual steering rack will drop another 20lbs.
Very cool. If I could pick and choose I would want an ecoboost from a wrecked mustang. 310 - 330 hp 4cyl turbo. Yeah, that's my jam.
the act says vehicles built using sb-100 are not for resale....but if you will remove the serial number... and go to dmv... and tell them its newly built....would that work?
Great vid, crazy car! Thanks guys.
Someone found my secret filming spot. Great video, great car, and great location!
TheSmokingTire that’s awesome, gotta check out the vids. Give me a holler next time you’re up this way, it would be cool getting to meet you guys!
I liked how you talked about the car before driving it instead of while driving it. It always seems like both you and the owner are so distracted by driving the car that the conversation is just awkward.
Some people get mad when we don't get to the driving fast enough, some like it. I don't know what to do, lol.
that's were you shine dude! drive stuff you like it shows
Awesome project!
Didn't know that a Camaro 3.6 sounded that good uncorked like that.
Back in the late 80's I had a local race shop put a V-6 in my Opel GT. Not gonna lie, that was a fun car. I asked if it was something they thought they could do and the guy laughed at me. He said we put a 454 in one, I think we can fit a V-6. I wante a rotory engine but they refused to do it. And he gave me a list of reasons why I wouldn't want to anyway that made sense. He said trust us, a V-6 will work better, be cheaper and we will make it look like it came that way. He was right. Cost me like 2 grand to have it done. And don't panic, it wasn't a nice Opel. I paid 600 bucks for it and it had issues where it couldn't be restored. Like for startes the interior was trashed and you really couldn't get the parts to fix it. Wish I could have kept it but I got married and we know how that goes lol.
V6 sounds beautiful.
Does it come with Apple Car Play?
Yes. You just have to hold your phone up and use the screen on the phone.
This seems way better than the Ariel atom Doug reviewed a couple weeks ago
Got to love this!!!
oh yeah yeah
I luv this thing~ ....Awesome!
...this is hilarious at the 5:minute mark!
Cheers Zack, mad.....in a good way. :)
That's probably the lightest 3.6L 1965 Chevrolet ever!
@@TheSmokingTire Zack you do a great job with these reviews, but this one reminds me of Matt in the Lamborghini almost getting logged. Keep up the good work!
Noble m10 or m12. It was light, had a slick body, went 180mph , handled AWESOME, and 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds
This sounds like a 350z with a Tomei exhaust
Sounds like my G35
Thanks dude.
I still like the other exocet Matt reviewed better. The turbo sounds in that are amazing, go check it out!
That laugh when he accelerates 🤣
Well if we go over that clif we have lots of room ✋🤣👍
Id like to run against this in my goblin see the comparison we are similar numbers and weight
Now for the main question Exocet first or SLC?
Nephew of Tyler Hoover? :)
What road was this in nor cal?
Mines road south of Livermore. Right by Lake Del Valle. Sweet road + you can loop over Mt Hamilton...
@@GA10TV Thanks for the share, I just moved to Fairfield and excited to check out some roads.
I have an lsx exocet. That windshield is hideous.lol
That’s the first thing I said. Remind me of glasses issued in USMC bootcamp
That is the engine sound a car like this should make
That windshield is.......from a boat?
Hm can't remember where he got it. He normally runs a smaller one but was worried about wind noise. But I think it's from a car. ZK
This is awesome
Giggles giggles ! Hah
Great video
What road is this in NorCal?
If it's not Mines Rd southeast of Livermore, CA, then it's a similar road nearby. There are better roads around the Bay, but Mines is pretty good.
Definitely Mines Road in Livermore. Great road but lots of bicyclists if you go at the wrong time so be careful.
I heard 15k?!? That’s a price anyone can appreciate.
No way. I have a race chassis with the Miata 1.8L. 15K for the kit, coilovers, tires and seats maybe. Having said that, even at 25 grand this is a freaking steal.
I would love to see this with an 3.5l ecoboost V6 and a 6 speed manual. This is a beast already. I miss my 99 miata (325 RWHP).
Have you never been in a dune buggy or sand rail? I mean come on! It’s the same experience but on dirt
I drove an electric buggy but the weight balance was different, and the steering was super heavy because the control arms were a few feet long. I'd say it was a very different experience, but scaffolding and power is a real good time, no matter the surface you're on. ZK
Funny, I’m not seeing any “Zach sucks where is Matt” comments here. Zach has always been great, I wonder what finally changed their minds...?
I used to listen to TheSmokingTire Podcast years ago. Zack always made me chuckle with his clever jokes and tends to know his stuff; Matt, however, when drunk - which he regularly was - constantly laughed out loud at his own jokes and was arrogant & interruptive as fuck towards his team and some guests. I must have listened to 80 podcasts or so; it was informative, and a hilarious podcast at times, but Matt being just too overbearing is what veered me away. That said, Matt's professionalism on the YT platform is/was excellent. I just hope Zack gets the attention and love that he deserves -- he's a humble, intelligent and hilarious motherfucker.
Scroll up. :) There's always some, but what are you gonna do? You can never please the whole internet all the time. ZK
I...FUCKING...LOVE...THIS...
Its too bad its real hard to find shorter gears for that rear end.
The 4.3 big diff torsen was in the 1600 NB in Japan if it helps. Fit that with the 6-speed and the gears are quite short.
Badass.
This is why I drive a miata pure fun
worms garage 17 cool story bro your car is for 16yr old girls im sure its a monster
Its a dune buggy with street suspension.
Fuck that V6 sounds good.
Only in California you can do this, but can't modify a Miata. CA is such a stupid state.
K swap VTEC
Formula SAE car for the road!
Call me crazy, but I feel like this calls out for a Subaru 6 cylinder boxer engine - you could get the weight lower and they are known to be very reliable.
Corvette smashed into an extremely lightened Miata
What can go wrong 😅
Weed's legal in Cali, obviously.
Wouldnt be road legal here in uk, without mudguards. Not sure about the rest.
It's a nice engine, but I think a VQ37 would have been a better engine if it would fit and mate easy enough. Awesome car! I love "go-kart" type cars.
Do want.
what happened to matt?
0:15 "This is a ladder that fell on a bear and now the bear is really mad"
The coffee I was trying to drink is in my sinuses now...
Thanks for another great video!
Same exact shit here. There is now coffee all over my shirt.
My work here is done. *Attempts to fly. Falls off desk. Cuddles with Top Ramen packet.* ZK
I was like what the fuck did this guy just say
@@TheSmokingTire the lader and the bear....lmao and mannnn i honestly believe i had a bigger smile than you did every time you punched this angry bear. I honestly felt your fun transmit to me. Im defenetly a subscriber from now on. Great job dude!
