@xavius000 Some arcade cabinets cannot be opened from the back. The top part that you popped off is there so you can gain access to the monitor. Cabinets like this usually have the parts mounted to a shelf that's attached to the control panel. If you open up the control panel, you might see some latches on either side holding the shelf in place. Undo those latches to pull the shelf out so you can work on the game. Please listen to episode 21 of our podcast for more thoughts on your question.
Thanks for showing me where the power switch can be! I just picked up my first arcade cabinet (sharpshooter 1998) and I had no idea how to turn it off properly!
19kfox, We agree with MrAnimeGuru. The JAMMA pinouts and kick harness are the same between CPS-2 games. This means that it's pretty much a plug-and-play swap of the A board to get it working. We have also featured your question on episode 6 of our Q&A podcast. Please listen to it for more of our thoughts on your question. Thank you for your question and stay tuned for more videos and podcasts.
Hi, do you have a little guide for starters? I just picked up some 90ies cabinet with a not working Jamma Platine and want to transform it to a Hyper Spin MAME cabinet. Need little tips and tricks what to do and what parts to change etc.
do you have a video showing how to use a power switch? I'm wanting to build a MAME machine, so it isn't connecting to a normal game motherboard, but perhaps a way to trigger the PC to power on with an outside switch? Thanks
I have an " Astro Blaster " 1981 Gremlin/Sega, The fire button works most of the time , but will not fire later in the game, at around five minutes. Is this a malfunction of the game play or is it something else? I am not even a novice when it comes to classic arcade games, so I need a lot of helpful hints and instruction on this matter. Please help me if you can. Thank you. Matt
Hey there, can you please do a video or assembly and take down of Sega Super GT Twin/Scud. I took mine down 6 months ago an then got super busy now I’m not so sure about all connectors and screws. Thank you!!!
Sure, we have some great content on the topic. Check out our posts/videos on Installing A Push Button and Wiring A Push Button for some information on the process. Please let us know if you need additional help. Also, just wanted to let you know that we will be covering your question on our Live Show Episode 72 on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 5:30 PM CT. Here's a link to the episode if you want to watch it: ua-cam.com/video/geNrWcKD0yk/v-deo.html. Thank you for your question and good luck with your future repairs.
You might try to trace the wires from the speaker back to the game board. If there is a volume potentiometer in between, it may have gone bad. In this case, replace the potentiometer to see if it helps the issue. Also, be sure to see our post/video on Troubleshooting Games With Sound Issues for more information: www.arcaderepairtips.com/2015/01/28/troubleshooting-games-with-sound-issues/ Hope that helps.
So I bought an arcade game from the coinopstore back in 2016. Apparently now they are being charged with selling fake games. Anyways, the game worked great, has over 64 games and I really enjoyed it. Last week, I moved it from 1 room to another and now nothing displays on the monitor. The games start up and you can hear the noise of the game, but cannot see anything on the monitor. Any suggestions.?
So, it sounds like something may have come unplugged when you moved the game. While it's possible that your monitor may have gone out during the move, this would be a rare occurrence in our experience. Open up the back of the cabinet and see if you can find any unhooked and/or broken connections. If all the connections look good, then it's possible that your monitor did indeed go out. You can check out our post/video on Troubleshooting Games That Are Playing Blind for more information on that issue. Also, just wanted to let you know that we will be covering your question on our Live Show Episode 48 on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 5:30 PM CT. HI, I have a pacman cabinet and i want to ask you about the coin door, i wanted to replace the 2 metal coin return buttons, is that easy? some games u have to push the 25 cent but this has to buttons below them.
I bought a retro simpsons game , I need to remove control panel off is it just a latch that needs to be flipped like u did?... need to get cabinet through my door
Yes. On 4 player arcade cabinets, there are usually latches that are located just inside the control panel on the right and left sides that can be accessed through the coin door just as we show in our video. If you need additional help locating these latches, we will be discussing your question on our Live Show Episode 62 which can be found at the following link: ua-cam.com/video/Onv5doEWgSg/v-deo.html
Question for any of you, id like to go about purchasing my first arcade cabinet, perhaps even a broken one to fix up myself. Now....I know of a machine close by, that is certainly broken. Its at a hotel where they have put the poor thing in next to the pool for hell knows how long. Its very humid in the room and it certainly may have been splashed over the years. When you plug it in, it turns on, but its only static. Does this sound fixable? or is it probably beyond hope?
Sounds like a classic case of playing blind. Check out our post on Troubleshooting Games That Are Playing Blind (www.arcaderepairtips.com/2012/05/14/troubleshooting-games-that-are-playing-blind/) for more info on the repair. Just bought Raiden and I'm having trouble getting it to turn on. Looked for power switch and can not find one. There is nothing on the top of the game where some of the older game have it. The person would bought it from turned it on. We drove 20 miles and are having troubles. Any hints, possible the extension cord is the wrong kind, going to buy a voltage tester today to see if there is voltage going through. Thank you
Check around the sides and bottom for the power switch. Make sure that all of the interlock switches in your cabinet and engaged as well. Great idea picking up a voltage tester. That will help you to trace the power coming in from the plug and going to the rest of the cabinet. How does the bottom of the back door stay one if only secured from the top?
There's usually another piece of word on the bottom of the one you pull out making it look like an L. Just put that piece in first and close it
Have you ever done this before and had someone put the back on to scare someone when you pop out? 4:35
You should do a prank sometime where you pop out of the back of an empty game and scare someone
