June 20th 2024 Long Island Metro Fishing Report with Matthew Broderick

We officially kick off summer with the news of sea bass season opening here in New York this Sunday, the 23rd. The bag limit for this portion of the season will be 3 fish per person, and a 16-½ size limit. The South Shore and Montauk wrecks and reefs, rock piles and North Shore structures should be loaded right out of the gate. Bluefin are also on the move along the South Shore and a bite is developing 20 miles out and even closer on the eastern end of the island. According to sources, trolling has been the best way to connect. Fluke fishing is picking up inside the bays as well with fish to nearly 12 pounds being weighed in. The North Shore flattie bite continues to produce, too, with the presence of sand eels on that side. Stripers to 50 plus pounds are still on those South Shore bunkers pods and slowly moving to the eastern end of the island.

16.5 on seabass is dumb bc sooooo many are gonna die on the way back. it's very counterproductive 😢

Agreed that 16.5 is too long; however , I use a venting needle on seabass I catch in deeper water and they always swim back safely

@vitaignis5594 yes, u do. But 90% of ppl do not, and don't really care tbh. Mad seabass are dying that's that.
