It's not illegal to buy cars off Facebook. It can just sketchy, so you need to do your own research, run a vehicle history report, get your own insurance, and registration immediately.

Well here in Georgia, there are people that get cars from auctions and sell them at home. They’re just regular Dealers.. but here they also have a very specific tag (all red w DL at the beginning of the plate number)
it’s actually not unusual to sell cars from auditions from your house cause if you buy like 2 cars they can just sit in your drive way whatchu need a whole lot for 2 cars lmaoo & i think she honest tbh even if not it’s a mf license plate she can get a new one

How do you know it wasn't legit? People do buy from auctions and sell them on as a small business. They use their home address, not a car lot so have no overheads. All you need is a little knowledge on cars and you can get bargins like repo's ect ...
It's a good judgement call by the officer. As an officer I run into these at times where they don't have a driver's licence and no bill of sale or transfer title and no proof of insurance which turns to be multiple violations issued and impounding of the vehicle and subject to arrest if license suspended. There are many people out there with dealer license that buy and sell cars from auctions and out of their homes which is ok but important is to make sure you have the right transfer title from them to you and register that vehicle thru your local DMV as they will give a temporary registration, new plates and put your own insurance immediately before taking that vehicle from their lot.

I live in Germany and had a case, where my insurance was suspended, because of mailing issues and I was not aware of that, since I was not getting any mail. So I was driving without insurance and registration for like 6 months, without knowing. Got pulled over while parking in front of my house, because the where already looking for the car. It's not possible to just cut a brake like that, in Germany, but the police officer helped me to file a believable report/explanation to the judge and also made an involved officer note, that he thought, my story was true. In the end I got a fine for driving an uninsured vehicle, without any further records and the case of "fraud", which would have ruined everything, even my banking history etc., was dropped.
