Excellent interview! This got me to go through their extensive collection and choose 17 tracks that now reside in our core rotation here at Prog Radio, including their new single of course, from the upcoming album. (No small feat, btw, with all those names needing pronouncing! =) Huge Lord of the Rings fan boy here, so that's where I found my head going with many of their songs. Their music definitely takes you away!
I ran into Tusmorke about a year ago, and so far have been able to get my hands on 6 of their CDs. I have 3 which haven’t been mentioned here: ‘Leker For Bath, Ritualer For Voksne’, ‘Bydyra’ and ‘Inetnet’. 2 of them sound like weird renditions of Children’s Songs! I sure will preorder the new one and try to get hold of the other CDs I’m missing!
What an incredibly beautiful country and a rich history in progressive music Scot. Great interview , heard a lot of good things about Tusmorke , and I'll be listening a whole lot more. Excellent. 😍🎵🎵🤘
Man great show Scot. Everyone I meet and hear from Norway seems super cool. One of my Norwegian friends is from the village of Skeie. Looking forward to hearing this band. Of course in the States we have our version of weird, which is The Residents. Cheers.
Combining Norway, prog and a discussion of the mechanics of wierdness... what's not to like? fwiw wierd is a norse derived word/concept that doesnt mean strange so much as meeting fate so that's why trying too hard to be "weird" rather than simply being one's odd self doesnt ring true. Writing a press release (kinda a drudge) while listening to this just makes sense. my kind of people...
After seeing this episode earlier, I was enticed to listen to these guys. I’d never heard of them until today but I looked up their “ Hinsides “ album and it blew my mind. Particularly the last track “ Sankt Sebastians Alter “. That song is just an epic beast !! It reminded me of Wobbler’s “ In Taberna “ only much darker. And I can definitely hear some Van Der Graaf going on here and there 😈. I must track down that album. Thanks Scot for this entertaining video !
What a treat! Discovered these guys in March and have been listening pretty much nonstop. Being from Sweden and understanding the lyrics 80% adds a dimension of enchantment that is unexplainable.
hahahah Way Cool Scot !!! Nice to see these two crazies up here !!!! I first met them in 2004 or 5 when they had a hip hop band, using samples by Black Widow and shit !!!!!! Thanks Scot !!!
@@TheProgCorner Kjempene på Dovrefjell, Vardøger, Fredløs and Dans , dans Olav Liljekrans are all great. Also, check out the two albums by Kong Lavring. Simply stunning.
It's more in the line of "something up one's sleeve", only that it's something nasty, a threat of punishment. I am familiar with the sword of Damocles, it doesn't mean quite the same thing as "riset bak speilet", even though we refer to the sword in the lyrics. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
Kinda like "an iron fist in a velvet glove", a power you obey without question because of the potential violent consequences or punishment. The song is an ode to just growing old and not growing up
@@benediktmomrak1704 "Iron fist in a velvet glove" means more that someone carries themselves with grace or is demure and soft-spoken, but has inner strength or a strong character beneath their gentle exterior.
Ja dette var bra gutta! This was great guys 😄 Ris bak speilet, unwanted consequences from ones actions? Love it og takk igjen Benediktator! Cheers from Morten
Okay Scot, I'm hooked. I've been sorta rooting around and checking them out. Hmm...up my alley for sure. I'm putting them in my library. I get the same vibe from that Swedish band Goat. Man, what a live double header that would be! So, thanks again Scot for turning us on to more excellent music. Damn you Kiss!!!
@@ilabelle1 We actually played in Tillburg the same night as Goat at the Incubate festival 10 years ago, but couldn't get into their show cuz they were really trendy then. Would have been a good splitgig! We went to see Current 93 instead, awesome band.
@@benediktmomrak1704 Hey! Good to hear from you. It wouldn’t surprise me if you were on a bill with Goat. You share the same freaky psychedelic vibes. Very cool indeed. Greetings from Vancouver 🇨🇦✌️🇳🇴
This band deserve merit for having a member called Benediktator! I like their fashion sense, too...better than the boring Status Quo / Ramones / Nirvana look.
Saw their Roadburn performance. Entertaining concert but didn't watch the whole show. Talks were funny but a bit too much for my taste. Did pick up their split with Spectral Haze and really like that one.

Very cool video but I found a even weirder band. That band is Koenji hyakkei

Some of their best tracks are found on EPs, like "En verden av i går" and "Reptilhjernen vet". Great band!
