If you've been following this journey for a while now, you probably have seen me going back and forth between braids and twists. Which one do you prefer?

I've been doing 12 twists sometimes 14 since 2018 and basically always wearing a head wrap or scarf through winter and spring. The longer my hair gets the less enthused I am to wear it out often and detangle it. In the summer, I don't really want to wrap my hair up (too hot) so I end up wearing it out more. I've been thinking of ways to style my twists without having to do mini twists. I am a lazy natural for sure and that just seems like.....no. I too am not skilled in the laying of edges and all of that. My edges don't like to be molested. I'm going to miss my quarantine twist lifestyle! My twists don't stay as plump as yours do for as long but they are quick to redo if I maintain them weekly. I'll try the braids out and see if I prefer that!

Last year I was on a one year mini braids journey and my hair grew so much and the longer my hair has gotten the harder doing braids has been, so this year I'm trying mini twists and it's so easy and my hair looks Fuller but my hair tangles easil after a wash day with twists (I don't like that)
Ooooo yeah that can be difficult. I’ve never liked doing minis only because it takes such a long time! How long would you keep them in?
Usually keep them in a month
How about making the braids a little bigger?
I agree 💯 with your take on braids versus twists .I am team braids though; less detangling, less shrinkage and more longevity. However, as you said it has its cons . To me, braids are the lesser ' evil' lol. It would be great if a method could be devised to get the best of both worlds 😂
Lol I know, right?! That’s why every week it comes out to however I’m feeling after I finish washing my hair

a combination of both tbh. I thought twists weren’t for me, but I tried a new method (braid the first part, then 3 strand twist till I can’t no more, and lastly 2 strand) it works the best for me! I also started doing my own box braids or added hair styles, bc natural hair is honestly tiring and sometimes you want a new look 😂
What a cool method! I’ve never heard of it, and honestly I never learned how to 3 strand twist😅 but I’m happy you found something that works for you!!
This method is amazing except I do it with regular twists! They give me a "passion twist" look and it prevents my roots from tangling and looking trash when left alone or when I wash my hair. Ugh it's just perfect

I've never tried mini braids....or bigger braids coz I feel like I would look like i have 5 hairs sticking out of my head since my hair is fine😂. At the moment I'm rocking mini twists. Just trying to find the courage to actually try braids
Braids can be fun and I often like to cover them with a scarf or wear them in a high bun.
My first week of wash day l do 4 braids and wear my slap cap. The next week l take my braids down and l do buns with headbands.

This was really helpful. I'm at the end a 3 month twist challenge and I have issues detangling. I retwist every 2 weeks and it is time consuming. I think I'll try braids next.

@@SimplyJuliaLauren Hiyyy...the braids didn't really work well for me because I really love my hair full. So I'm back to twists 😂😂 but braids are really good when I am swamped with school work.

I truly like both braids and twists.
Twists make my hair shrink...and they don't last. Also bc my hair is short I don't like how twists look on me. Also i never lay my edges. I just leave ny edges alone
I had started waiting till my hair is stretched and then doing 3 strand twists, it works like a charm !!

To me the twits hold onto moisture longer and that’s a plus, plus, plus. Easier to manipulate and to get done.
But honestly I interchange them at times as well but deep down I’m a twist baby.
Lol I usually do twists over braids, but if I had the patience, I would do only braids instead of twists.
