im an fc barcelona die hard fan, watched rivaldo/ronaldinho and still watching messi, they r immense and phenomenal talents but my first love in football was R BAGGIO #10 pure genius+magic+huge talent and intelligence and vision combined in one player..i remember how big and famous he was in the nineties, at one point him and michael jackson both was so famous and loved by fans all over the world, there was Arnold schwarzenegger and tom cruise and bruce willis in hollywood, michael jackson in the world of music and then R Baggio in sports and football..italia was not a favorite in the 94 world cup but he took the team as far as he could and was so close to the dream, and to be honest football was not fair with a big legend like him but i guess u cant win it all in football, ppl who watched him play knows how good he was, nowadays ppl or kids would watch one or two videos abt him on utube and say oh hes ok..but the man really produced an outstanding extraordinary world class top quality of football, each game he had two to three defenders marking him, he was that dangerous and opponents always knew that once he had the ball in his feet its going to be lethal, he was so very important and dangerous with and without the ball, he had many invisible roles as his visible roles....greatest italian footballer period!
Roberto Baggio is probably not the best player to play the game. But he is definitely the player that will make you fall in love with the game. He was just absolute magic. His passion and love for the game, his creativity and resilience. He is the embodiment of the love of football to me, and it will be hard for someone to come close to that. And frankly, him missing the 94 penalty, though heartbreaking, only made me love him more and be fascinated with the magic of the game more. Absolute magician. Not a lot like Baggio, if any.
