Marta, you are just so inspiring, informative, and a sweet friend to chit chat with!!! I loved your this video of these products. I have the Brusho set of 12 for a year now and I love their vibrant pigmented colors - I use very, very, little of them and get some great results. I have just started using the Magical Shakers and I love, love, love them too especially for my vintage or chic or muted backgrounds if I am using flowers etc. Each product is fun in its own style!!! OH YES to your possible Brusho or Magical background tutorial!!!! Big Hugs
Love your total honesty in your videos since you are a Lindy's Brand Ambassador. I always got tired of watching youtube review videos only ever reviewing the products of companies they represented. Yet another delightful video, your videos are always a treat to me Marta! I will be sticking to Lindy's magicals, because I value their ability to mix better and prefer the more abstract color look than the heavily pigmented Brushos. I think depending on the project one would definitely make more sense over the other. Oh, and I always love having more color options! That's always a win in my book since I love to collect art supplies haha!
I too have both Brusho's and have just ordered Lindy's Sprays and shakers, so I was so happy to see a comparison of the two! I think you did a great job comparing the two. I felt even though Brusho's have a stronger pigment base, Magicals has something special, something more blended maybe even 'magical'! Thanks for doing this test.
The reason you poke a hole in the top is because you need very little brusho, the comparison looked to me that they are the same. But I work with brusho and I know if I get to much on it can make a big difference. Where as with the magical I don't get that. I do like the brush dose last a lot longer if used by poking the hole. Not with a pin but something more substantial like a paper piercer.
Thank you for doing this comparison! It really does help to see the two side by side. I agree that the Brusho powders are more pigmented. I could see using Busho for certain projects, and Magical for others, so both are very useful. Thank you again for making this video and all of your videos showing different product. They will help me make better choices, and keep from buying things just out of curiosity because I don't know how they will perform. I already have too many things I 'm trying to use up.
Ty Marta for doing this comparing, i havent heard of either of them , only seen in your videos...i def LOVE the magicals alot more, will be purchasing soon....
Yes you are right. Magicals gives artistic shading and thus more mystical feel while Brushos is strong and bright in a primary basic way. I already have the Brushos and am waiting for my Magicals Shaker. I think I will love them both too!
All the results are awesome but I like the way the magicals blend better!! And there are so many more colors. I would love to see what you do with the tissues. I have some gorgeous paper towels from mopping up my lindys sprays that I just can't throw away. So would love to see what I can use them for. Thanks Marta!!
I love this video with the comparisons. The only powders I own are Paper Artsy Infusions Colored Stains which I love. I purchased those over the Brushos because they aren't a solid color, each of them have a few brown flecks in them giving a lovely affect. I love the magicals from your videos. Brushos can also be purchased individually. The individual jars have more colors available than in the sets. Thank you for all of your inspirations. ♥
PLEEEAAAASE show us what you do with your tissues! They're so pretty and I absolutely LOVE the idea of not wasting a thing! Love all of your videos, and I simply adore you and your art
I just started using the Brusho but I must say that I like the Magical crystal effects. They are more subtle but also have some amazing colors as they blend. Great honest demo comparison 👍
Love your videos and you too! Techniques and comparisons are all great. Would very much like to see how you use leftover wet wipes from cleaning. Goodness knows we all use tons of them and it would be wonderful to make something from them as well.
Thank you for these video, it was interesting to see this comparison. It would be of further interest to now compare them both to Ken Oliver colourburst which is another similar product. Love all the colours in the magicals.
Thank you for taking the time to show the difference of these products, and giving your honest opinions. Yes I would love to see you making a video using your tissues! It should be exciting to see the outcome. Thank you for your creativity and inspiration. We learn so much from you, and your art is always so beautiful. Take Care and until next time. Hugs, Lenora
I love that you did this! In all honesty, I bought Brushos last year, and I have been buying Magicals for a few years now and I cannot help but be totally bias towards the Magicals.. the Brushos are nice, but truthfully I find them so hard to work with, whereas the Magicals are so easy to work with. I completely agree with your determination that the Magicals are more artistic and spread better and easier, and more than that, they blend better. Not to mention the shimmers in most of the Magicals really make the effect in the end. It's kind of like the 13 arts Rainbow Colors.. which I must admit, I do love, but still not as much as my Magicals. The Rainbow Colors, which are a labeled as a watercolor powder, are powder based but also have chunkier crystals mixed in, to me the Rainbow Colors are more so compared to the Brushos, but truly still a better product. I just can't help that I end up steering toward Lindy's products, they really can't be beat. I have bought Primary Elements from ColourArte as well, and have a pretty large collection from them, and if I don't find a color in my Magicals, I can find one in my Primary's. Those would for sure be my two go-to's 😉 Thank you for sharing your comparison with us 🎀
Thank you Martha, that's it, I will go for the new shakers .... at first, and complete with a few magical. This video was very instructive 😊 You do a great work. Bye from Montreal !
I had never heard of Brushos. Interesting comparison. I just got my first set of Lindy's Magicals in the mail yesterday and I can't wait to try them out! I also got a couple of the Magical Shakers, and I'll be trying those, too.
thanks for sharing the comparison. I have a version of Brushos that Stampin' Up sold a couple of years ago. I just bought a couple colors of the Magical shakers from Spectrum Art's sale. I need to play with all of my paint mediums more. Creative Blessings!
Great to see if these are worth getting, I shall keep an eye out for them in my local store. Beautiful work from both of you, Emily you are fabulous xxx
Love the magical powders. Ones that I have are old ones with no color labels. So yeah I think I need to get them out now and use them up just so I can order the shakers 😃. Okay no more hoarding them!
Thank you for this.I have brought a set of brusho, and set of magicals, and tried both on my dragonfly card in group 😊.The magicals I used on background and were shimmery, then I mixed the brusho with water and used as a watercolour paint on my dragon.I loved the effect of the two together 😄,so I think I will use both,in different ways 😊...I would like the new shakers to! 😂 X
I’m just recently trying to learn how to use water colors, I just bought my first set of Brushosso this was extremely helpful to me. I liked two ideas you had, #1 making a color swatch for the lid of the brushos and the second was to make a shaker top. I’m binge watching your videos right now so that’s why you are seeing so many comments and questions from me. Thank you agai and for recommending CeeCee
Brusho is wonderful when you shake the pigment onto wet paper. Thank you for your honest opinion. I have never heard of the magical shakers but I'm interested now. ☺
Until yesterday, when I found your channel, I had never heard of Lindy's products. I'm a little surprised, because the company is located just a few cities away from me, and I pass it every time I go to visit my daughter. Maybe they need to do a little more advertising? I think they are positively beautiful. I'm very glad that you did this test, because I have really wanted to try some pigment powders, and after watching your comparisons, I think I like the sprinkle jars of the Lindy's the best. The Brushos, while positively beautiful, seemed to remain in a granular form even after water was applied. And if that is the look the artist wants, then it would be perfect. The Lindy's tests reminded me of the fireworks displays, with variations in colors within the same bottle. I like the subtle shimmer too. The few videos I've watched from you have been really informative, and heartwarming when the two of you work together. :) I look forward to more! Thank you!!
Hi Marta, I LOVE your videos. The comparison of these products was very interesting. I learn so much from you. Could you do one on the various mediums ie gesso, modeling paste and others? It's hard to know when to use what product and what do I really need? Thank you. And LOVE when Emily helps😄
I know this is an old video, but I just got a good deal on the 24 set of Brusho 🎉 The other brands are more expensive... I will be looking at all of them for expanding my collection in the future. Thanks so much,Marta ❤
I'm not familiar with any of those products (other than what I've seen you do in your videos)... I've never used any of them... But Thank you for this comparison. =) and They all look like cool products to work with. =) WOW! those ARE beautiful wipes, I look forward to seeing what you do with them. =)
I think I like the magical shakers the best. Not that much colours yet. You can see the colours that is in the bottle and I like the cap, with the two shaker options!
What a helpful video. Thank you very much. I have Brushos and I like them as well as Nuvos Shimmer Powders. I was very surprised to see these differences. The Magicals are also very beautiful. First of all, I thought, the brushos are better, because of their pigments, but now I am not sure anymore. The results with the magicals are also great. Good to know these Differences. Thanks a lot for your video. ❤
Watching you put the pigment down on the last test, it seem the Brushos went down heavier and that is why they look so much brighter then the magicals. You always do such a great Video Marta and I appreciate all the time you put in to show everyone the comparison. I am a Lindy girl!!!
HI Marta than you for such a good host and through review. I have used both and they both have a lot of wonderful beautiful colour. some of the brushes that are multiple colour crystals that combine to make the end colour you can do techniques with that you just can't with anything else in my opinion, like a firework effect, the sea green is one for an example, try dropping them onto a wet page
When i used sprays, magicals, brushos... I use the tissues as background of my canvas. I want To see how you uses them!!! I love all your videos, you know!! You see that you are a great person, and above all very generous to share your time and your knowledge. You know it's like this, I'm not saying it to make you the ball!
Brusho are about 60 years old and made for artists, Magicals are new and made for crafters. That is the difference. Do a fine art painting for a gallery with each and then you will have a fair comparison.
I love this video. I've always wanted to see these two compared. I think I will get some brusho just to have some powder that's like magicals but no shimmer so when I don't want any shimmer (which isn't often, but there are those times) I will have some. I absolutely adore all of lindys products. Thank you for doing this xoxo❤
Thank you for doing a comparison. And also for talking throughout the video. I've seen many Lindy's Stamp Gang videos and they only play background music. I wish they would talk and describe what they are doing and which products they are using. TFS !
Great comparison video! I have Brushos, Bisters, Color Bursts, and Nuance color crystals as well as a very few Magicals. All, with the exception of Bisters, are fairly similar products. The Bisters are much more earth toned and I think, of the group, the ones that have been around the longest. I find the main difference in the others is the color palette. As someone else commented, the different colors within each Brusho color will show up if you use less of the product. And not all of the colors react like that. The Color Bursts are a U.S. product from Ken Oliver Crafts. They come in small bottles with a nozzle on top to disperse the crystals. Some of the colors work better with this system than others. I think, as you found with the Brushos, certain colors are more grainy than others, some are super fine, and that affects how easily they come out of the bottle. The Nuance color crystals are by Magenta (I believe it is a Canadian company) and, while similar to the Brushos, have a slightly different palette. One thing I really like about the Nuance is that they are packaged in clear plastic canisters so that you can see the color that's inside. It seems like every time I look, there are more and more products coming out. Thanks to you and Lindsay Weirich for all of the fair comparison videos you make. I should start watching first and buying second, lol!! Thanks again.
That was really interesting. Yes, Brusho was more intense and heavily pigmented, lovely colors. However, I can see why the Lindy's are called Magicals. They do magical things when you add water. They spread out and flow into the other colors, creating new shades and shapes. On the textured paper, Brusho stood out a little more, but the Magicals were more subtle. So, I felt they were both good, just different. On the plain paper, I thought the Magicals, both kinds, were more exquisite. I have not used these before, and I will be more likely to select the Magicals.
I have never used magicals, but bought a 12 pack set of brushos a few years back, a little bit goes a long way. I like using brusho's like a wash, because of the heavy pigment contents. I have been thinking of mixing with gesso just to give it some color on background.
I like the Brusho sprinkled onto prewet paper so the different pigment colours in the bottle land and spread rather than being pushed by spray. The magical are beautiful too, but don't contain as many different pigments in a single bottle.
The brushos look pretty good but I think magicals win for me because their colours are more delicate and interesting. You don't get anything like standard primary colours. They are so nice and I would use for vintage style where the brushos might be something I use on a brighter project. Thanks for this video.
Magical definitely have more movement, which is better in terms of mixed media. Brusho’s give a true color palette and that is a little stiff and unimaginative.
Interesting comparisons Marta. I have about 10 Brushos and the others I have are Infusions which I got free when I subscribed to a magazine. Maybe I should compare them to see the difference . I haven't used either of them properly so will give them both a trial. Thanks for doing this video appreciate it very much especially as you are so busy with work etc. Xxxxx
Great video I look forward to seeing the video on the wipes especially how to use them I have been saving mine for awhile now and some of them are a real work of accidental art 🙄😉 keep up the good work TFS.
Hi Matha. I think the Brusho's have brighter, more intense colours, but the powder is coarser (as you said and it can cause some granuals on the page unless you add a lot of water or very little powder). The Brusho's just brought out 9 new colours. The Magical Shakers look great - I wish I had some, but I already have 2 sets of the Brusho's. Thanks for the comparison video. Yes, please make a video on all the things you can do with the clean-up tissues/baby wipes. I have stacks of them! xx
Thanks to ur wonderful videos, Marta, i have just ordered my first Lindy's Magicals on Amazon.ca. Can't wait for them to arrive. :) I also checked Brushos and unfortunately, they cost about twice as much as Magicals, and being on a fixed budget, Magicals will be my go-to colour powders. :D Thanks for all ur hard work, Marta! Keep the videos coming!!
I have recently ordered Cosmic Shimmer's Pixie Powders which is similar to Brusho's but with mica powder so the colours are shiny when dry. I saw a review of Brusho's and Ken Oliver's Color Bursts and Color Bursts seemed more intense than Brusho's. I'm looking forward to try my Pixie Powders when they arrive. Thank you for your comparison. I think I prefer the Magicals colour range.
Hi. This is a really informative video, so thanks for sharing. I'm very new to using the powders but having recently bought sets of Magicals and Brushos, I would agree that the Brusho powders are definitely more pigmented and as someone has previously commented, you need to use a lot less of the Brusho. For this reason, I would say Magicals are more subtle and of course, some have the shimmer as well. As I also have other brands of shimmer powders, I will be experimenting with mixing those with Brusho. For me, being resident in the U.K., Brushos are more readily available and much better value for money. I think both products are great and I particularly enjoy seeing the powders reacting when water is sprayed. I find that Brushos come into their own on watercolour paper. ,
That was a great comparision, very non biased so that was great. The difference between them also is that Brushos are not fine powders, they are crystals so they give you those explosions of colors. You will have yellow in green and red in the black, etc. so they are not inteded to be a fine powder like the magicals. I was so glad to see that though because I was going to get magicals some time ago but because of finances I went with nuance magentas to get a bigger color palette. I already had bursho's and love them but with only the 12 color set I wanted more colors. That's why I went with the Nuance. I also did notice that the magicals seemed to give a little nicer blend of color though. Otherwise, to look at the both sides I couldn't see much difference between the two. You did a great job on getting the colors as closely matched as you did.
I saw on IG you were going to do this - Yay! Such an honest opinion! I have a few Magicals (honestly haven't played with them yet) but no Brusho. I do have and played with Ken Oliver's Color Bursts. It seems that they're basically the same. Brusho has more colors than Color Bursts and Magicals have more than Brusho. But I think there are more options with the Magicals (shimmer or flat). TFS!
Love the comparison! I'm wondering, are the Brushos more like color shots and flat shots from Lindy's? I don't know if the brushos have shimmer? Great video Marta!
You already swatched your brushos just by what you did. I punched out circles and glued them to the top of the jars so I could see the colors. I actually swatch everything because you never know what your water supply has in it. The minerals can affect your colors until you use distilled water for all your painting. Just a thought. thanks as always for sharing.
I understand your frustration with not being able to see the colors of the Brushos in the containers, but wouldn't it be easy to just put a white circle sticker on the lid of the Brushos and quickly swatch it or swipe it after you try the color out? It would require buying a pack of circle stickers at the office supply store, but they often come in handy. (I say this even though I have a new resolution not to buy any art supply organizers that aren't clear, because if I can't see what's inside the organizer, I tend to forget it's there.) Still, I think the Magicals had a bit more subtlety, which was nice.
I bought brusho's and I had used color bursts. I have to say that I love color burst because the colors are more vivid. I saw a video comparing the two and they agreed with my statement and also said that Brusho's were more artistic. I prefer the magicals vs brusho's, just my opinion
Brushos contain crystals that don't dissolve in the same manner, hence the gritty texture. Also you barely need any brusho powder, you should barely be able to see it on page. That's why it's better to shake from a small hole in lid, as you started to do. Brushos also loads cheaper than magical and can be bought individually xxx
Love your test however, I love the brushos much better than the magicals... you get more shades in one color... the pigment is stronger and each color has different flecks of color which I love and also you get more than double the amount of color in the brushos which i love :) But thank you for your comparison!
But i do love that they came out with the magical shakers... that makes it more comparable in size and I do plan on getting some of the shakers in the magicals! So I love that about the magicals!! :)
also, if you get the 8 pack of brushos, they are completely different colors than the 24 pack of brushos so technically there are 32 of the brushos but yes, there are more colors and different colors in the magicals. Now if they would only come out with the shakers in all the colors they have in magicals, that would be awesome!
When I got my Brushos I copied the enclosed leaflet on my laser printer then cut out each colour and stuck it to the top of the pottle before I made a small hole in the top with a push pin which is left as a permanent stopper. When I open my storage container I can choose my colour without taking them all out.
I use Brusho and just personally thought you used far too many crystals, especially in the ‘all colour mix’ experiment. You may use less [therefore more economic] and get a better/nicer result. But great to see the difference.
Whaaat?! No PINK? But I love pink! And purple! So I think it will be Lindy's for me. Besides, I love that Lindy's has so many products that match in color! Thanks Marta, this was a very informative video.🦋
Just started exploring in these products. Thank you for doing this. Are Colorbursts in this category? If so, I would have loved there to be a third product in this comparison. I think their color selection is limited as well. But it would compete with the Magicals Shakers since it is in a squeeze bottle.
I liked the review because I learned something. It's very hard to do this type of test with a great deal of accuracy. There isn't any way to determine if you are using the same amount of product; even just a little bit more will have the effect of increasing the intensity. Also, there is no same color comparison, for instance, the blues are different blues; some may have a preference just based on which blue they think is the prettiest . I think the products are very similar in the way they work; I can't speak for the intensity, except to say it was good in both, it looked at times that more Brusho was being used. That may be because you had a harder time picking it up and went back to the pot. Thanks for the review.
Thank you for the comparison Marta! I have to admit, I love my Brusho's but I'm so very tempted to get a few Magicals, in pinks/purples.

thank you a lot !!!
The colors are so pretty. I like the magicals and than Lindys are really nice also. thanks for showing us.

I am so happy to see your comparison :) So many times I struggle with what products to use given my limited funds!! This is SO HELPFUL!! Thank You ;)
You did a perfect job comparing these products I agree with you that they are all very good and similar to eachother! Tea!

you do the most thorough reviews. I bought 4 magical pigments recently to try, and I can't wait to play with them a little bit.
Thank you for this comparison. It was extremely helpful!

Wonderful comparison. I think I like Magicals best....AND YES, YES, YES, please do the tissue video!!
wow they look so awesome.. now i really want the magicals shakers..
I have both but haven't used them yet. the brushos are nice but I love the effect magicals give. this comparison was awesome. Thanks Marta!

Thank you again Marta for so much information about some products you use. It always makes it easier for me to choose what to put on my wishlist.
I really like the shakers. Hope they come to Australia soon.
I just love love love you!!! You are so positive and happy! I also love when your daughter is part of your videos:).
Thank you for the fab comparison.I love the Magicals and will always choose those.I would love some of the new magical shakers ,they look great.xx

WOW! those ARE beautiful wipes, I look forward to seeing what you do with them. =)
I think I like the magical shakers the best. Not that much colours yet. You can see the colours that is in the bottle and I like the cap, with the two shaker options!
so beautiful colours....like them all.... :-)
Thank you for doing the comparison. I have Color Bursts and some Brushos. It would be fun to see what you do with the baby wipes. 😁
Helpful video :-) Would love to see you using the tissues/babywipes!
You know it's like this, I'm not saying it to make you the ball!
both. I want it all!
Brusho are about 60 years old and made for artists, Magicals are new and made for crafters. That is the difference. Do a fine art painting for a gallery with each and then you will have a fair comparison.
really nice comparison. I think the main difference is that the Brusho is more pigmented, which I prefer, but others may prefer the more faded look.

Someone may have mentioned it below, but Brushos come in two sizes. Box sets all have the smaller size, I believe.
I have stacks of them! xx
Very nice comparison Marta ! i have some brusho and i love them
Thanks to ur wonderful videos, Marta, i have just ordered my first Lindy's Magicals on Amazon.ca.
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful review!!!
Love both! Use them alot
I find that Brushos come into their own on watercolour paper.
,
Aww I just love your voice💗
TFS!
Oh even a video about tissues you can make sooo interesting that I will lock for hours ****hugs***
Thank you !!!!
Great video Marta!! Thanks for sharing the info! xx
thank you for your work and the video :-)
I bought brusho's and I had used color bursts. I have to say that I love color burst because the colors are more vivid. I saw a video comparing the two and they agreed with my statement and also said that Brusho's were more artistic. I prefer the magicals vs brusho's, just my opinion
I do love the Magicals ,but do think that the Brusho really will have a place as well
Marta Love you Loads, thank for sharing with us I believe I would purchase the Magical Shakers verses the Brushos
Thank you for replying!!! God Bless you and your Family!!! You are such a sweet natured Girl!!!
Love love love the info
what type of paper do you use in this video? I really like the comparison and the colors are fabulous. thank you for you hard work
watercolour
Super! Thanks!
Are both of these products permanent? Or do they need to be sealed? Thank you. Love your channel BTW 💗
I think the Brusho had a more pure color for the yellow...
I use Brusho and just personally thought you used far too many crystals, especially in the ‘all colour mix’ experiment. You may use less [therefore more economic] and get a better/nicer result. But great to see the difference.
Hi - I have joining the Facebook group, but I can't seem to join. Is there a problem with the page? Thanks.
I just accepted your request, enjoy the group !
Whaaat?! No PINK? But I love pink! And purple! So I think it will be Lindy's for me. Besides, I love that Lindy's has so many products that match in color! Thanks Marta, this was a very informative video.🦋
Ha, ha, ha, my first shipment of Magicals arrived a few minutes ago. Me thinks the craft fairy has been at work....
Thanks for the review.
both are gorgeous but brush is my favorite . . 😎 😎 😎
yes..the shaker made a difference . . it is better it beat out the magical .
Brusho is clearly superior in every test. The pigmentation cannot be denied.
