    Look Warren, your boss just called for the third time. He says he doesn't give a heck if you are dead, he wants you in the office and working by 9am or you're fired. You've used up all your vacation and personal days and, he says being dead is no excuse.

    It is the perfect length, too. Not too long, not too short, but perfect.
    Thanks!

    I had nightmares as a child of a shadowy figure in a coat and fedora. I had always thought it was from the neighborhood watch logo, but now I'm not too sure.

    • @BrianNineTails
      @BrianNineTails Місяць тому

      It's strange you say so. I just woke up from what might be called a nightmare, if I hadn't become lucid during it. That makes me wonder about this reality though, because although I realized I was dreaming, It didn't REALLY feel that way to me. It was more of an intuition than an obvious truth.
      So all that's left to do now is listen to Ian. It would be too jarring not to go from one nightmare to another. I can always just wake up if I need to.

      As a child were you a rich plutocrat with a footloose teenage daughter, and a son in law with ties to organised crime?

    • @evelanpatton
      @evelanpatton Місяць тому

      @@tamlandipper29🗣️👀😵‍💫
      “As a child…” & “have a
      (MARRIED) daughter” just do not co-exist. The word child is defined by a human being BEFORE the age of puberty, or before the age of maturity. No being before puberty can even have a child- hence the word pre-pubescent. While someone MAY have a child before maturity [!], there is NO CASE where a “child” could have a child themselves above the age to be married- unless you live in a draconian patriarchy that forces children to marry.
      At least this is not the normal political or citizen stance in any civil or tribal societies; this would be an EXTREME EXCEPTION to a just & fair environment. In MOST places IF this WAS the case, “child-sex enslavement” is what that situation would be called.
      This is a peculiar comment.
      One wonders: do you need a dictionary & civil course, or a moral readjustment?

    The stories you pick open up the imagination! For example, a story about a monster with duck feet and a black stick, or a ghost that enjoys roofing are bizarre themes I wouldn't have thought of! Having said that, it would inspire me, or even a classroom of writers to choose random unrelated objects or scenarios and make a horror story about it-fun!
    I know I'm going to enjoy these, but first ..... popcorn!
    Edit: now that I think about it, reminiscent of Ray Bradberry!
    (thank you for the video!)

      They do have a box game for writers (for individual or collective use) that have prompts on cards. These prompts often create random, sometimes unusual, written pieces. The idea is to “play” with the craft. I bought it thinking I would one day put pen to paper, live around a community of crafty creatives who love to engage in communal games of intellectual challenges, or use in a vibrant counseling consultation.
      Rather fun actually. 🎉

    Not bad for half a novel.

    • @evelanpatton
      @evelanpatton Місяць тому

      Plot of the other half: stealthily he awaits the body stolen by the Mars animal-thing, so that he may kill his friend’s body & free humankind from the vampiric Mars telepathic transference. His first shot is precisely aimed at the body’s brain stem, then two in the chest, & for good measure, and as a tribute to his friend (an Army buddy who inherited a million dollars from his uncle) he completes the job with one aimed lastly at the heart. He gives himself to the law. While awaiting his own death sentence, he contacts three old army buddies, one in Secret Service detail to the President, the other a security guard at the SpaceXyZ Program, & another lobby’s Congress for a Veteran’s Comprehensive Pension Package (equal to Congress) & Lifetime Health Insurance Coverage (equal to Congressional “Veterans”). All three vow allegiance to the World Flag to protect & serve humanity. This leaves the novel open to serial potential whereby we follow each of those three men in their successful alliance against further visitor infestation. Novel hits NYT’s Best Seller list. The final book ends with the book being read on the Mars Colony as a historical non-fiction T series that tells the history of EarthMars colonization & resource alliance. Of course, the Treaty makes “body snatching” a crime punishable by deportation & death, but we all know rules are really made to be broken.
      Which leads me to the spin-off series of a Martian serial killer, who was originally in love with a human male being who left him for another human, so he runs around finding similar body types to his first love, takes their bodies, then proceeds in having plastic surgery to look exactly like his lost love- of course this habit is how he is finally found out because of all these dead look-a-like bodies start showing up in morgues across the Canada, all dying from heart failure due to complications post surgery. This jump-off series doesn’t do so well in book form, but becomes a CLASSIC CULT FILM 25years from the original publishing date.*
      Note:
      A True Crime novel is also published based on a real life serial killer in Australia who beds, weds, gets his partners to all have plastic surgery to look like his first love, the surgeries all go well but he kills them when he realizes that just because they look like his (dead from cancer) first love does not mean they are anything like his first love’s personality; so, he kills them, continuing on with his scheme hoping someday his “true love” will come back to him. This book’s title is THE COMPLETE PACKAGE. Obsession begins to break down his own personality, until when he doesn’t recognize himself at all, he turns himself into the police. The book is a bit of a “tell all”, straight from the killer’s confessions and a morality/values question as to why he could murder so many young queer homeless boys without anyone knowing what was going on.**
      Note**: the marriages were all legal guardianship certifications (& not real marriages) which is why he could parentally pursue their transformation into his first love….his SON.***
      Note****: sexual abuse within this “real crime” novel was published under the understanding that the views & actions of the criminally insane within the book does not reflect the condoning of
      mental, physical, & sexual abuse of human beings, especially not vulnerable homeless, queer minors. All proceeds from the publishing of this book were donated to a Foundation to give vulnerable, queer minors safe housing, counseling, & support.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Suggestions of this comment were based solely on the expansion potential of this short story, a bit of social irony, & does not reflect any consent to historical accuracy by the real world.
      Thank you.
