I think it's so wild that when, even as a ghost writer, lovecraft manages not at all subtly to put his signature and aspects of his mythos all over these stories.
Of all the audio versions of this I keep coming back to this one. It's my favorite Lovecraft story but because of being ghost written I rarely see it, even in "Complete" editions. Lovecraft takes the very basic premise of "guy is dared to stay in a wax museum overnight" and creates a genuinely unsettling story of nameless horror nestled neatly within his own mythos.
Orabona is easily one of Lovecraft's/Heald's most amusing characters. And if what Rogers said is true, he may have destroyed one of the key components for Cthulhu's return.

I love your Dulcet tones. Like silk on my ears my man. Thank you so much for the passion and effort you put into these works. You've really helped bring Lovecrafts worlds to life in my mind.
This would make an amazing movie. I love Orobana! He freaking killed a lovecraftian monster and made into a wax piece. I wish there were more stories on him.
@@maxredjasper55 right, it would lighten that whole rase issue too that ppl make out about lovecraft. I mean he has two white educated guys come out as crazy or ignorant. Bona is smart, classy, brave, and best of all for these stories foreboding. He should be played by Lance Reddick.
@Pornhub XHamster I mean not as a massive block buster type hit, but as a small lowbudget movie, it could be possible, you need 3 scenes, a "museum" (just a gallery space), a weird hole (easy to set up) and a street to run away. I think the most expensive thing would be to set up all the pieces of art necessary to give the museum its feel. "the color out of space" was reimagine and I'll be honest, it's a pretty great movie
@Vampiric Academia 1 I’m pretty far left, and I’m a massive Lovecraft fan. The guy’s profound racism doesn’t diminish his contributions to the artistic medium. Also, he was taking a strong interest in socialism and easing up on the weird reactionary bullshit shortly before his untimely death. I know tons of left wingers who are Lovecraft fans. Hbomberguy did an excellent video on it.
@@joeyst-pierre6139 Never really got why people liked that film. It just seemed like typical crazy nic cage lol. The monsters were nice but it didn’t have the same scare that the book had at the end
I actually got scared for a minute. There's a huge desert windstorm going on outside tonight while I listened. There were so many bumps and crazy grinding noises coinciding with the story. 😂 Absolutely perfect. I haven't been scared by a creature since Jaws... Perfect narration makes this possible. Thank you. Now I can't sleep. 😂😂❤
I will buy that skin! Go collect it for me Jensen. Oh it's you..I treasure this output from the left Lovecraft. Your rendition Sir is as always excellent, on point.
It really helps when there's some unnerving music in the background. Not that Ians voice isn't suitable by himself for the role he plays in Horror stories.
Honestly, it was silly to have Rogers be revealed as so wildly unhinged so early. He's ranting about sacrificing things to his new god while showing off a horribly mutilated dog carcasses and speaking ominously about worse things to happen soon, yet Jones is somehow just totally cool with the whole "stay overnight at the museum" plan? It's absurd.
In a lot of Lovecraft stories, the skepticism of some of the characters become borderline delusional and contrived, but I think it's plausible that if your super talented best friend was acting crazy you might try to help him by debunking his delusions.
I have all but stopped listening to any other narrators since I have found this channel, and if you could do more scary sea stories would escalate my dedication for this channel to no end.
