The biggest disappointment would be if S2 wasn't backwards compatible so all those switch games that ran poorly on release stayed trapped there.
I'm honestly so damn scared of that. For once I really do hope Nintendo does the pedestrian thing and just makes it the Switch 2.

Nintendo seems to be good about backwards compatibility only changing that with completely new gen stuff (wii playing GC stuff, wii u playing wii stuff)

That makes no sense. The whole point of having so many studios is to release games from each different studio in a way that fulls in the blanks from each studio
@@finnrogers4466 Both microsoft and sony desire a monopoly in this sector of entertainment, and part of that entails buying up smaller studios so the most major competitor can't. It's not at all profit driven. If sony and microsoft weren't so hell-bent on being the only game developers, console developers and distributors we wouldn't have this issue, and most of those studios would have remained independent.
There is no point in trying to play ball with these companies. Hi Fi Rush did EVERYTHING right and the devs still got shuttered.
Im absolutely livid. I encourage people to support indies as much as possible because its obvious that getting in the big leagues is reliant on pure luck and and whatever mood the higher ups are in. I hope the industry collapses.

director left during development, the studio had no direction (for new IP) AFTER the game got released. Plus the game got SHADOW DROPPED completely by microsoft, first time they've done that in YEARS.

This is so insane to me it's like microsoft is still living in the 2012 "this needs to do CALL OF DUTY NUMBERS" era.
To be fair so is Sony. Even after 10 million units sold Spider-Man 2 just barely made its money back. Current “AAA” game development is wildly expensive to the point where selling even 3-5 million just isn’t enough for a decent profit anymore.

They really should just scale back. Graphics isn't selling anymore. Spider man 2's graphics look mid and with all that effort and money it'll be outdated in a few years time. Silent Hill 3, a game from 2003 on the ps2, looks fantastic to this day. Art direction is key and I'm sure High Fi Rush is going to look great for years. Too bad Microsoft don't see it that way.
Tl:DR - this graphics obsession when they peaked at PS4 anyways is just a money sink.

The fact that Nintendo never fixed their shitty broken Joycon sticks in 7 years does not give me confidence for the Switch 2's build quality.
Is that still a thing? I stopped hearing about that forever ago and mine have never once had a problem. I'm wondering if I just tuned out and also got a lucky pull.
To be fair, you could just send your joycon to them and they would fix it for free, that's what I did.

Microsoft is also fully in on the "Replacing Humans with AI" train. They are forcing some of their sub-studios to replace people with AI technology for art, animations, coding, and even business operations. My own personal guess is that they shut down Tango either because they refused to use AI, or just out of spite. It's dystopian stuff.
The best part is that the exec that says you should tip 70 dollar games also said that Microsoft wants more games like Hi-Fi RUSH. The next day. Even the now jobless director/writer had to respond with utter confusion

Personally I'm at a point where I'm just not interested in dropping money on new consoles for new games anymore, so the biggest decider whether I consider getting a Switch 2 is if it's compatible with previous Switch games and software. Upgrading to a 3DS was great because you could still play all the DS games.

The average gamer won’t emulate, doesn’t matter how easy it is, it is simply too sketchy and difficult for most people.
Even if it comes out next year I'll wait until it has an exclusive I want to play. If anything, I just get scared thinking how fast 9 years have passed...

I would really enjoy if Vinny did a Prey playthrough, I feel like Arkane Austin deserves some credit for the best immersive sim in recent years
The thing I'd want for a smaller Zelda game would be a new take on the Oracle games to jump off of the Link's Awakening remake, but with more of a Link Between Worlds approach of being a not-remake that still hews similar to the originals. Ideally, there'd be a single game with three different "stories"/lands to save (so Farore can get her own this time), and then you'd get the final Ganon showdown after finishing all three plotlines. It's a pipe dream, but I really would like the Oracle games to be revisited, and I think it'd be cool to do so in a way where the devs have more freedom and can implement stuff that had been intended for the originals.

3:00 i feel like the problem with the game is it launched on gamepass, and everyone on the internet recommended making a new microsoft account, and getting a free month of gamepass, and grind the game that way.
Unless a game is chugging or hampered because of hardware limitations idc if it's on an old system. I just want Nintendo to make a Switch with better specs that I can port my old Switch library to. They really don't need to reinvent the wheel this time. If they wanna do gimmicks, it can plug in via USB or Bluetooth, we just need a stronger console.

The AAA game industry (especially in the West) is on the brink of collapse. I think it's gonna hit its breakpoint before GTAVI comes out, surely Microsoft will be the first and maybe not even the only company to pull out of the console business.
I learned a long time ago there was no point in working in the mainstream games industry purely on how they treated their developers. Now people are learning there is no point in working in the AAA game industry because they'll be punished for not making a flop.

They’re so shortsighted and it’s going to blow up in their face. So much bad PR recently that nobody is going to apply for jobs in the mainstream industry anymore. Who’s going to want to work somewhere they’re almost certainly going to be laid off from, regardless of performance? Morale is at its lowest it’s ever been and hopefully they’ll eventually see that saving some money isn’t sustainable.

I don’t think Microsoft could make worse decisions if they tried. I feel for all the studios they acquired, anything can be on the chopping block, for any reason. It’s crazy to think that only a short time ago, people were actively cheering about Xbox buying up companies.

Probably the most baffling thing to me with this situation is that Xbox was in such a good place this gen, considering how badly they flopped with the Xbox One, and how badly PlayStation is doing this current gen. They had every opportunity to put themselves on top, and they fucked it up.

I really hope for a new Tomodachi Life and a actual Mii sports game taking place in Wuhu Island again. I know, Switch Sports sold pretty well but it still was a disappointment regardless (and not only because of replacing Wuhu Island and these sportsmates)

I hope so, I think Nintendo are one of the few companies that wouldn't jsut throw more and more hardware at the problem, and would try to make actually compelling games. Although with their lax view of how well games should run, I'm not sure if their own hardware would be up to the task

The entire AAA industry could collapse and I wouldn't care at all. The only AAA game I've been interested in for about a decade is FFVII remake. On the other hand, the indie industry is literally in a golden age and the best-sellers are consistently from companies I've never heard of. I have enjoyed GAMING in the past two years so much the only comparison I have is the 360 era, and everything I've enjoyed has been indie.

Well, I mean... yeah. I didn't buy a Switch because of its hardware or third-party titles I could play on anything else, and even the form factor was always more of a bonus than a selling point. I got it for games like Smash Bros. and Metroid.

I don’t even like the switch to begin with, sure the games are cool, but it fails on both fronts as a hybrid console, battery isn’t good enough to actually be a viable handheld, and the performance isn’t good enough to be a dedicated home console. Also the joycon issue.
The news of a switch 2, instead of 2 new separate consoles, one being a handheld and one being a home console, is just greatly disappointing to me

As much as i agree, its just not that compatible with the modern market nowadays. I miss the old days of dedicated handhelds and consoles myself but nowadays you either stream your console to your phone and plug some controller bits in or the console itself is the portable. I think unfort people would rather just carry their phones around and not an additional handheld unless its rly substantial and versatile. Its a damn shame tbh but at the same time i get it.
I wish for the same thing tho. I want an actual reason to buy a nintendo console beyond novelty. Only a few games on the switch ever held my interest and the versatility never did much for me personally. I would love to have like another attempt at a gamecube. Cutting edge, affordable, actually compatible with lots of games unlike the gamecube and able to rly punch above its weight

@@lucyfer_the_bat fr they are way to uncomfortable in general, I would play MK8 for like 50-60 minutes and I would have an imprint of the A button on my thumb, they take a weirdly high amount of force to press and over such a small area too
