So first notice when he’s pressing on the glass it stays in place. It’s not “detached” this is why this kit works. Had a solara where the window was truly detached and it’s almost impossible to do with those clips and whatever he’s using there. You’ve got this cavity to fill behind the glass, have to some how get it to stay in place while you glue, it will slide etc. eventually just took it to an expert window installer.
I found this kit on ebay. It's selling for $118 for one set (2 tubes that are mixed) of epoxy and 4 clamps. To get enough clamps to do what is done in this video, you would have to buy 6-7 kits ($700 - 800 +). I think you would need a minimum of 2 kits ($236) to do get enough epoxy to do the repair demonstrated in the video, but then I believe you would have to repair it in 40 cm / 16 inch sections and wait for each section to cure before moving the clamps and doing the next section because you would only have 8 clamps. It doesn't say how long the cure time is, but it would spread out the repair time significantly. It seems like a good quality kit but very overpriced for what you get in my opinion. I could MAYBE justify paying the $236 for 2 sets of epoxy needed to do this video if it came with 24 clamps instead of 8, but even then, only because I understand there is not a huge market for this product so you have to mark it up enough to make it worthwhile to produce and sell and make some money. To spend $800+ to do the repair as it is done in this video though??? Just no. There are significantly cheaper alternatives.
The kit only has 5 clamps. Do you start in the center or do sides on at a time and then the center? Also is there a temperature range for the cure period?
+steven dart ... here a little working help to the Kit: First close the roof complete and mark the middle on screen and canvas... Second would be starting at the top in the middle... get the top fixed then the bottom also starting in the middle... Wenn top and bottom is fixed up then you can start with the sides... Don´t forget that the glue need round about 12hrs for drying!!! There is no real temperature range, BUT i would keep the car in a room temperatured garage or so.
You showed the kit like we could just order it , Maybe you should think about investing in that idea? I bet it would land you a good amount of extra cash. Especially if it holds as well as it looks. Thanks for the video. Great work.
