- How we made the 1959 Emory Outlaw RHD Coupe in GT Silver
This is the inaugural installment of a class of videos we call “walk arounds” to give our friends and fans an inside look at how we do what we do.
Beautiful images of our finished cars frequently make the rounds in the media, but rarely does one see what it took to achieve the standards of car building that we set.
This 1959 Porsche 356 Coupe is a case study in the concours-quality restoration we do, but also in the modifications we make to improve what was already a well-engineered car.

How I wish I could've done an apprentiseship in your shop years ago...these old 356s smile when they leave your shop and they LIVE the life they were designed for....🤩
Love watching this video every so often. Very motivational.
Please please please do more videos like this. Love your work.
Amen
The shot of the painted shell before assembly is pure art. Beautiful lines.
Yes! More more....those of us who can only dream, live vicariously through videos like this and gorge on the details like hungry wolves...thanks
Each time one of these gets back on the road, it's time for a celebration. A thank you, for restoring these pieces of car history and bringing them to a point where the next generations can enjoy them again.
The 356 has been my dream to own since I was a senior in high school (1962). I was blessed to drive one as a reward for helping a Navy pilot with a broken leg move into his new apartment in Honolulu. Still haven't owned one but truly respect what Rod Emory does. If I am ever blessed to own one before I die, I would want his 'touch' to be upon it.
The craftsmanship and attention to detail are stunning.
Thank you, Ed.
Hi Rod,
Just love your family story with 356's and your passion for working on them. I would love one but sadly I don't have the finances yet. Once I do I will be over to the states to see you, but I will need a ride hand drive as I live in NZ. Cheers Mike
Great upload to UA-cam ! Nicely narrated and just the right kind of length and detail. Thanks so much.
Perfect u build them as right drivers to. I’ve started saving 🤩
Very well done
I have coveted this particular car for a while. I have pics of it saved on my phone🙂. It is one of the most attractive cars ive ever seen. Im partial to porsche anyway, but if i could own any classic porsche i wanted it would be this one.
Thank You, Rod.
Hi Rod, I love all the details of your work and especially the more aerodynamic shape this car has without the front bumper.
My favorite touch is the external deck hinges. Fantastic.
Art on wheels...thanks Rod! Beautiful as always.
OMG the way those rear wheels sit in the fenders- WOW and WOW!!
Great Video Cheers Rod

So spectacular! Great video Rod.
Awesome car and build!
love it!!!
Unique cars for unique people that have a stile of life, were the only propose is enjoy driving!
Love everything about this car other than the leather hood straps but I could live with them :)
I work on these cars every day and one thing I've found out is there's pretty much no more decent cars left any more, just about every one of them is a ground up resto. The cool thing is it's easier to let yourself customize these Swiss cheese cars and appreciate the really good specimens.
Thanks for creating this series, it is great to see the details and the progression of the build. Are corks popped when the build is finished and the Outlaw emblem affixed?
Thanks Harvey. We've been known to crack a Pellegrino or two. :-)
Bravo
Perfect job, congrats. An early v-shape sunroof would be nice too.
Your a legend.
I just love all what you do on these really amazing cars already. What size are those wheels (width, off set and diameter) and tires? They look just perfect the way the back tires just fit inside the wheel wells with a paper thin space between. I love the stance and look you put on these cars.
man i love these cars so much but I can only get a kitcar on shortened vw chassis, who would you say is the best bodyshell? Thanks
Beautiful car ! What would one pay for this RHD ? roughly ? would love to get one
So question; I have 2 356s. Unrestored. One numbers matching the other not. Similar to the videos build.
What approximate price range can one expect for a similar built car?
They're so nice, I'll take one over any other car.
Right hand drive, oh now I remember.
I love 356s...
WOW
My dream is to own one of these
Amazing but would love to watch it in motion with sound ..
Love it . Can you send me some more detailed info if I email you? I still working on my64c coupe.i love your work!
does anyone make similar alloy wheels to fit 64 vw beetle thanks

Now I understand why these cars take a year to build. Still hoping to see that NH car bombing around. Guess I don't hang in the right circles.
Thanks, Bob. Anything worth doing takes time and these cars take a lot of it.
I keep telling myself one day…. 😞
Very interesting, but it would be great to do videos of the work being done rather than using a series of stills.
Car porn.
Kinda goofy to convert to RHD. Gay IMO. Not you, the customer.
