Rod Emory’s Porsche 356 RSR: The Outlaw’s Outlaw
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 жов 2019
- Rod Emory’s parents brought him home from the hospital in a hot-rodded short wheelbase 911, which says all you need to know about the influence cars had in his childhood. Growing up in a household that was very well-versed in custom automobiles (especially Porsches), Rod proved that he didn’t fall far from the familial tree when he started modifying examples of the company’s first sports car at just 14 years old-to the chagrin of purists and delight of everyone else.
The work that followed would more or less define what an Outlaw 356 should aspire to, and now, decades later, Rod, his wife Amy, and the rest of the team at Emory Motorsports have created their magnum opus: They call it the 356 RSR. A far cry from a quaint and cute factory-spec 356, this one is blended with a 964 chassis and packs a 2.4L twin-turbo flat-four that provides the featherweight package with a few horsepower shy of 400. Join the ride as Rod takes us through his story and makes good use of that excellent power-to-weight ratio in the mountains outside of Los Angeles.

Looks like something from an alternate history where the 911 was never made and the 356 continued to be developed into the 70s.
@Aryan1 ever heard of the Mandela effect?
@@bertg74 That has nothing to do with it
@@AlbertoDsign happy with his solid knowledge in everything
That would be an interesting art project.
Alternate history car designs. What would a Triumph TR-6 look like if it was still in production?
The backend of this thing is a masterpiece!
Dude the back looks like the back end of the new 935!!! I freaked out when I saw the back end he made...that whale-tail...amazing job mate
it’s Darth Vader
I am not sure if I like the backend.
@@ananddullabh Probably more inspired by the original 935 lol
Yes, especially compared to the ugly asses of today's so called "exotic" cars which some have borrowed neon lights from Las Vegas as tail lights.
When you combine resto mod, hot rod, and Porsche, something really special happens
It is clearly a SoCal car
💯
That’s one amazing Porsche! Master class.
I love how it looks from the back, stunning.
sentinal from matrix
To each their own. I hate the back.
@@joetacchino4470 to each their own indeed..I don't like the front at all, it looks dated to me...
love the back though :)
@@Shiva108 You don't like a vintage car because it looks dated? I'll admit I haven't heard that one before
@@FieldTestedSemenKun Indeed. A truly great design looks timeless. This one looks véry dated. Almost like from a 50ies b-movie. Immature.
I think one of the most beautiful things about these videos is that you guys actually show people who love their jobs and what they do. You rarely see that on any other car show or channel.
Rod is the real deal. Accessible, friendly, total Porsche maniac and deserving of the spotlight. Great video.
Wooooowwww, just find the ultimate 356 I've searched for years !! love the 356 more than the 911, and Emory did it, this outlaw is the king of the game !! Thanx so much man, thousand of thank you so much! long life petrolicious...
As always. Beautifully done video. It was nice to see Rod's story. Thanks for your hard work. We love 356 and the joy it brings to us. I can't imagine life without one. Heidi
Love your Porsche vids too!
This guy is a Legend.....thanks for letting us here and see his passion!
Great story of a great car built by a man so humble to say "...building something regardless what others think..." Oh man, there lies a soul in it.
I now know that this is the most beautiful car that I will ever lay eyes on. Well done, Rod Emory!
Amazing love the raw look it surely does put the focus on the machine
Rod, I met you at DRT in Miami this year, the car was amazing and you could not have been cooler, Great to meet you!
I love everything about this car. How it looks like a works race project from Porsche themselves. The strong level of aggression balanced perfectly with form and beauty.
I want one.
This is a spectacular car! Build with some much enthusiasm, love, passion and loyalty... a true masters masterpiece
This is one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen.
It is truly an outstanding vehicle. You've definitely done something that would make any Porsche enthusiast look at with eyes wide open... Thank you...
Big fan of Rod Emory, he makes some beautiful cars... strangely aesthetically this is my least favourite of all his builds, but this needed to be made nevertheless. I prefer the more classic builds. Great story and film as always!
Yes. He does lovely work. This car was at Luftgekuhlt this year (2019) and I found it kind of interesting. It really is a departure from the work he has done to this point in time. To get 400 horse power of an air cooled flat four is a challenging problem from the standpoint of heat-removal. Rod has completely revamped those engines. Moving along to disk brakes was kind of inevitable. And the Momo wheels of course. I wonder if Rod has considered building his own monocoque chassis, out of carbon fiber and aluminum. It would be a logical kind of extension for him.
I agree, this is my least favorite Emory build of all his builds. I love the retro, cafe racer, "outlaw" style that Rod Emory popularized on the 356's, but this one definitely does not do it for me. The 1970's 935 styling works on all the 911 variants but in my opinion doesn't "back date" well to the 356's.
Agreed. I think it's the front clip mesh holes that's really cheapening it.
This is hands down, THE coolest Porsche I've ever seen
Have you seen bisimotos 911?
Such a great story, thank you for sharing. Pure inspiration!
A true labour of love. Thank you for sharing this vision with the world.
Amazing machine. Beautifully designed with such a raw race concept. Really special car
Rolling art. Great to see the American craftsman is not dead after all. Beautiful work!!
I knew Rod's Dad, Gary. when I needed a part for my 356 and the Aase Brothers didn't have it, Gary was the Man....This car, being "of Emory", doesn't surprise me at all....Keep the Legend alive Rod.........
Yes you are truly blessed Mr. The 356 is one stylish icon. Like yourself Ferry Porsche was a man of foresight. Keep what your doing and enjoy your RSR 356 😀🥰
That car looks like it would be absolutely terrifying at speed, and I love it!!
Hopefully it inspires more people to build this gen. Amazing.
certainly a one of a kind car, more art than a vehicle. Amazing! Porsches are automotive Aristocracy and this takes it to new levels.
That is one of the most beautiful Porsches I've ever seen.
Just perfect the imperfections. Great philosophy and craftsmanship. Thank you
2:00 What a fantastic car... but this one looks awesome!
Yea. It stole the show.
What type of 356 is that porsche?
@@IsraelSocial I'm afraid i can't answer to your question, i'm not sure :/
That is a very handsome 356!
Are you talking about the grey car with the rally lights, the roof rack, and the Talbot mirrors? Yes. I think that is one of his best.
You sir are a gem. God bless you.
Luv the way the rear ended looks with the turbochargers sticking out... so cool!
Beautiful cars. What a craftsman. It breaks my heart that I will never be able to afford one !!!!!!
damn.....i had to stop and just say..... the viewing this in 4k was a total DREAM come true!! Such an amazing thing!
Porsche has really inspired designs that get people inspired. Beautiful job Rod Emory
Amazing masterpieces. If only this was a production car. Wow
Soo much love in this car, love it..respect🤙
I've seen this car up close and it's an amazing machine!
Certainly love the look of how the rear looks like it ate a 356 just like the 935, k3’s harkens to the beautiful race cars that always looked like they swallowed a 911. Even forward to the the newly re-bodied GT2 RS. It’s just awesome!
looking through the evolution of 911 GT1, yep, certainly love that
Der Thilo Thanks for that, I knew I was missing a few!
400bhp!
Stunning creation, utterly ridiculously stunning.
The 356 in it's pure form is a truly amazing car! There are some videos on UA-cam showing them in a totally unkept but mechanically reliable. The Emory cars cars are definitely at the top of the food chain! Albeit, I love all forms of the 356!
A complete masterpiece!! ❤️
I’m not usually a fan of customised cars, but this one is just fab! Especially that tail. Also, the little peek at the ACTUAL 1951 Le Mans winner in the background is pretty cool...
"If I had to name one thing thats nice about it.. its the whole thing"
4:59 I have never seen the back of a car so beautiful in my life!
Unlike a mullet, this car is sexy in the front and all business in the back! The party is in the drivers seat. This is just a marvel of engineering from retro looks to modern standards.
This is one gorgeous Porche. Kudos to you sir, for putting together a stunning beauty.
That looks like a lot of fun to drive. Cool stuff
Impressive car.Thanks for the video!
When I buy a 356, you will build it for me. I worked for a Gentlemen by the name of Rick Norris, and wonderful Wife Penny Norris. They owned RPS Automotive witch started out in Los Angeles,CA on La Brea. He then moved to the West LA area. He owned a black on black 911. One of the most beautiful Porsche you can lay your eyes on. I truly wish I would know whom owns it now so I could buy it and keep it. The cars name was “Mad Rick”. To me Rick was one of the most amazing Porsche mechanics I could have ever met. He took me on his wing and thought me what building a car was all about. At 19-20 years old kid,I tell you I will forever thank Rick for being a mentor and such a huge big Brother. I wish he would still have his shop. He would still be building some of the most amazing Porches to date. You truly remind me of him. Keep up that amp passion for Porsche’s.
imagine if the makers of the this porsche back then could see what youve done to their design........i think they'd shed a tear of joy of how amazing their concept came out to be.
what a great story. well produced. looks like a great business. seems like a nice guy. congrats!
Wow Rod... just wow. Very impressive to say the least.
Rod Emory rules. Awesome video.
You were born at the right time for this right car. I AM JEALOUS
Beautiful 356 monster!
Emery is just plain awesome car builder, if I ever had the money
Great, the best looking 356 I ever seen. The Stock looks good, but this thing is amazing. High End Class. My Respekt... Greetings from Germany...
just in awe of such passion 😯😲👋👏
literally no words.. art
Honestly man-
Its a Sema showpiece to me!
You done a great job!
Better yet this is a masterpiece.. i tip my hat to you.
Most amazing vehicle I've ever seen.

I think this just turned into my favorite porsche
Amazing work

Romulo y Remo 🧿
First impression... Sinister 🔥
Exquisitely raw
Rod Emory = Car Hero 😎👌
Impressive job. It's a hot Rod by emory. Cheers from France
Always enjoy your videos!
One of a kind masterpiece.
the rear looks like Darth Vader's helmet.
It's an homage to the rear of the 935 "Moby Dick", I think.
@@Porkycheun True, I can see the resamblence, but if you take a closer look and use imagination it's more like DV's mouth piece.
@@robertfayette4877 I didn't say you were wrong! ^^
@@Porkycheun I'm kool, but only Rod can resolve this dispute by admitting where his inspiration came from. Bet, he's giving you the credit :)
@@natef4240 Sure, Rod wanted it to look like an early RSR and/or the 935. It's a Frankenstein and he did a great job welding all the pieces together into a performance car. Still, if you love the 356 there's not much room for a 917 or 959's sleekness and to me the rather raw look of the rear end comes from cartoon-like fantasy.
In a car like this: it's a necessity.
Pure Driving Pleasure!
Love the video and love the car. Rod is the master at what he does, but I can't help thinking that if it was painted in an early Momo livery it would capture more of the feeling they were going for.
Definitely a Master Piece!
Simple beautiful love your passion sir thanks for the inspiration
Wow!!! Rod Emery is an artist love my bathtub Porsche's (356, 356b'scoupes) amazing, this is a step up!
Beautiful custom
Great Video and a Great Porsche Fan. Respect this is Enthusiasm.
Just amazing
This has to be the prettiest Porsche I've EVER SEEN. I could look at her rear end all dam day. So pretty man. Amazing build. I bet it drives like a Porsche on roids.
absolutely beautiful, older German engineering is incredible.
I would put 1000 likes if i could, utmost respect.
Awesome masterpiece!!!
Congratulations. You built the coolest car I have ever seen!
Gorgeous car....well done sir.
FANTASTIC!
a work of art
This car should be in a movie sometime in the near future!
Beautiful ride...👍🏾

After i saw this video i like more this car. When i first saw picture of it i thought why would you do that to a 356. Now i love it
