Stats often show movies that star A list male actors (LEAD ROLES) bring in far more box office return (and we all know that in business that's all that matters in the end) than movies that star A list female actors. This is nothing new to the motion picture industry, and has been this way for years. I am not saying it's right or wrong, I'm simply stating facts. Is it changing and evolving? Yes of course. But we are also no longer in the day and age (by and large) where people are rushing out to the theater to see a specific star. 25 or 30 years ago, you went to the movies specifically because of Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger or Bruce Willis, or because it was a Steven Spielberg film. Now? Today's younger A list talent? Not so much. In other words, the star doesn't automatically = box office success like it did (by and large) so many years ago. If you're an A list female actress today (because every movie you're in is a critical success), but your movies statistically are not box office success, and the probability of a massive return is not very good, your salary will often be lower than a male counterpart who's almost guaranteed a massive box office return. And today (by and large) there are more A list male stars who have bigger box office returns than female A list stars. It's always about money. This is a business.

Considering Oscar winners are determined through politics, and not merit, I'd say winning an Oscar is not worth anything at all.
